Grinder recommendation

Looking for a bench grinder to run a 6" deburring wheel. I use it for airplane parts for a kit I am building. These are often long / bulky.

I'm trying to find a grinder with the smallest diameter body, as this is often what interferes with deburring.

Any recommendations?

I have an old Delta variable speed one which works ok, but was hoping to pick up a second to use with additional wheels and wanted one that is slimmer.

If clearance is an issue, and if deburring is the primary use case, consider a buffer which has longer shafts and no guards.

Thanks. I’d thought about that but it seems like buffers (for whatever reason) are much more $$$, especially with variable speed (the fixed ones just run too fast for my use).

Any recommendations for a decent buffer?

A belt-driven pedestal grinder might work. Lots of clearance on these.

What kind of SFM are you shooting for? Dayton offers this one if both a 3450 RPM and 1750 RPM. Here's the slower speed model:

As you mentioned, the variable speed models are more expensive.

Harbor Freight has a variable speed grinder in both Bauer and Hercules flavors for pretty cheap. Not the same long shafts as a buffer but you could still remove the guards to get some more access.

My old Delta shows 2000-3400 rpm, I run it middle to low end so probably mid 2000’s. Which is right in between the dual speed options I have found.

What is it that makes a variable speed one cost >500$??

I guess I can try some different speeds and see how it works, maybe I could go with one of the slower models.
