I would just like to say that you all have ruined me for low end tools.

That being said, I have really come to love Grip On locking pliers. I just got the 3 piece Proto set from Zoro for $49 after coupon. I already had the Napa and Snapon pairs.

I just wanted to see anyone elses that felt like posting.

He threw some cash in on the deal once I explained I had a family of internet tool aficionados that recommended I pass. He threw in $175 with it so I couldn't say no.

They are by far the nicest locking pliers I have ever used.

I know Grip On made them for NAPA, Snapon, Proto, and Channellock. Any others that you can think of? Color is no issue, I just love the feel of them.

I've had my eye on a few from CAT. They sure don't like to give those away though. Only set I saw was like 190 for a 5pc set.

I know what you mean about CAT. They seem to have a cult following on Ebay. Everything CAT sells for a lot more than I would ever pay.

I'll play...pics are the day they arrived sometime last year. They've since been scattered about and I've also added a few pairs to the mix. Have the snap on set here somewhere as well. Have to agree, they're by far the nicest locking pliers I've ever used. Older vise grips are almost on par but very scarce these days, in my area anyways.

Never mind the knipex photo bombing the pic lol

Do you find the clamp attachment (to clamp the locking pliers to the edge of a desk or workbench) to be very useful? I have almost purchased one a couple times, but I am just not sure I would use it much and I don't like having tools laying around unless they serve a purpose.

It's come in handy a couple times holding small parts for soldering and whatnot but for the most part if I have to clamp something really small I use my 2" vise.

Where did you get them?

I just searched Amazon, but only found the vise-grip type.

Well I did find these sweet extra long needle nose.

I was on the snapon truck and my salesman told me I should buy the visegrip brand over these, Reasoning being that he had a set returned because they weren't the same as vise grips lol. So I took that as they weren't very good. Now im questioning if i made the right decision not buying them

Chadstoolbox has a wide variety at good prices. You can also use their site to get the part numbers and then do Google searches for specific models and/or sets and you will find other online suppliers.

Grip-on locking pliers are awesome. I've owned a couple pairs in recent years.

But, they're pretty pricey. The Blackhawk locking pliers might be a good choice for someone with a tighter budget. Made in Taiwan. And, like the Grip-on pliers, the release lever is pulled, not pushed, which is the way all locking pliers should be.

Here's a review posted over on toolguyd.

The ones in the pic came through chads toolbox. The axial set is listed on their site but the other pic is a 13 PC "workshop" set that they ordered direct from the factory for me. Other pairs I have came through ebay and a local supplier

I saw the 5 piece CAT set in a roll on ebay for literally twice what Chad's Toolbox has the GripOn set for.

Oooooooooooh I have been looking for grip on stuff.
I have a ton of their clamps but not enough.

There will never be enough!

I have been contemplating getting a pair with the clamp. I'm sure I can rustle up some use for them.

I think you got hosed man. Everybody has their own personal preference but mine is by far better than your Snappy Dealer, lol.

I hadn't ever seen the Blackhawk ones. I see they are considerably cheaper, I may have to try them out. If they are on par they have the privelage of living in the same drawer as the rest of them

If there is one thing you all have taught me, it is that the man who dies with the most tools, WINS!

In all seriousness though, I like to have one of everything I need in my box and have everything else I may need or rarely need in another.

I prefer the Blue Point brand, they're easier for me to buy and sometimes even cheaper than the Grip-on versions.

I just got the 2 piece Channellock branded version (same set shown in Travisnd's post) from a fellow team member and man, they are nice. Make regular ViceGrips (even the older Peterson, made in the USA ones) look like ****.

Only problem I have now is I need more of them but Channellock doesn't carry them anymore. I know Grip-On's are available from other sources in other colors but I have a weird OCD thing about my tools matching. Its stupid I know but I can't help it.

Are the NAPA models still available, or did they go Chinese as well?

I'll let you guys in on a little secret...check out CripeDistributing on Ebay real quick. They have a bunch of Napa branded ones for crazy cheap prices. They mostly have the specialty ones left now.

I bought the NAPA ones on Cripe. I buy something off of them almost weekly. It's ridiculous. Chad's Toolbox has the 5pc set for like $89. Might have to jump on that

I could not find the ones there I wanted. Although there was some neat ones there.

It took me till page four.
Those are the ones I am after. Good grief they are expensive, but well worth it [/opinion]
There are some other pretty wild ones on that site too.
Time to shuffle around some funds... :rocker:

My set of Grip On pliers are grey in color and branded New Holland. Got them at a New Holland dealership at a good deal. The New Holland name has rubbed off. They are good locking pliers.
