Just had to post. Lots about the blaak Corvette is modified, but it is a 1968 (or at least the doors are from a 1968). That is the only year of the C3 (68-82) that has a little button to open the doors. On all other years, the key goes in a flat round piece, and the door is actually opened with a flat "flapper" above the key hole.

What car is this (off the top of you head, a true car guy will know immediately).

Picture034.jpg
:

A mk III Cortina to be precise. Due to the Vinyl roof, I think it might be a Ghia or GT version. I don't recall the correct nomenclature Ford used for the enhanced models. :headscrat

I do however remember being driven in one at the tender age of 11 and can still recall how soft and unsupportive the seats were in the thing.

As an aside, Moderators could we make 'guess the car' a regular feature/sticky? Not sure how easy it might be to do. I'm thinking that the picture could be posted, we could submit our answers & a week later or whatever is decided, the answer would be added to the thread, which would then be closed to new posts and the new picture would then be added in a new thread. Closed threads would be archived after a month or so to save bandwidth etc.
Just a thought..........

Maserati MC12, 2004 or 2005, I knew the emblem immediately because I got it wrong on a car quiz years ago.

Here is a good pic from Carnut.com showing the door on a '68. I missed the door on the black one but caught the side vents. thinking it was a '69. The '70's up went with the checkerboard side vents. So I was a year off myself.

Good pic, I wasn't sure either on the black one (and I owned a '69) if it was a shadow or not, still not 100% sure I'd like to see a better picture of it.

Cool:bounce:

So, can anyone name the partially obscured red car behind it?......

I will call it Betty. It looks familiar but it also looks like about a hundred similar cars, but noting is jumping out, plus how will we know if it's the correct answer?

Oh Mickey! Come on!-It's a game & there has to be an element of trust here.....:) If you don't believe me you could always do a google image search.
I do appreciate that it might be hard for for you guys Stateside to identify some of our Euroboxes but I don't have a hope on 99% of the US market:headscrat

I'll give a clue-somewhere within the picture is the manufacturers insignia. You may have to enlarge the original but I assure you it is there.

I don't see any insignia, I think it might be a Renault 5.

These are toooo easy. Time for something obscure...

duncorvo02.jpg

Les Dunham Corvorado, actually Cadillac Eldorado easily found through the link, but I recognized it as a Caddy right away.

How about the one below, there's a guy around here that has and drives one.

The silver mess looks to have a 560 SL behind it. The Caddy, can we call it a WTF mobile? Actually, to me the silver thing looks like a Monte Carlo with some JC Whitney front end kit on it.

That's the way Elroy sees it as well

Would that be the Custom Cloud?

Monte Carlo with a Rolls Royce bumper.

Did you sign up just to post that? You're right so was Elroy, except for the year but it was based on a Monte Carlo. I found an interesting website about the car while searching of a picture of it, link. I haven't read everything there but I saw that there were only 14 made, not sure if that is correct or not, but there are at least 3 of them here in Illinois, one of them being driven on a regular basis.

I think I need to get my eyes checked, I don't see the Renault logo on the hubcap and I wasn't sure if it was a shadow or not on the Corvette, I had a '69 and that was one of the first things I looked for.

Mickey O,

Haha. No, I actually signed up last night after reading the forum regularly for a few days.

Those Custom Clouds were actually built down here in Florida. Seen a few at some auto shows, so I think there are definitely more than 14 out there.

Mickey, your eyes are fine. The logo on the 5 is partially obscured by the chrome bumper on the Kadett. It distorts big time when you enlarge the image though:shocking:

Man I hope it is the Renault logo & not a scrape of the hub cap:lol_hitti

Wow, does seeing that Custom Cloud Monte Carlo bring back memories, and not good ones....LOL I built one for a guy in KC back in 1975 or 76. I recall the parts as being real heavy, as I wrenched my back installing the trunk lid, by myself. Ended up in the hosp. in traction for a week.

Wow, that Custom Cloud is fuuuugly!

How bout this one, year, make and model

ch889364c.jpg

That's a Cheeta 1965. It looks like they chopped off the A pillar and took the top off? Powered by a 327 Chevy. I had that Hot Wheel car. It was front engined, but the engine was set so far back that it was almost a 50/50 weight distribution.
