I checked and don't think I posted this here:

I picked this hatchet up with a busted blade last summer for a buck, and converted the blade to tent stake pulling duty, so its technically a Hammer now...

One of the claws (cut open extra heavy 3/8 washer, radused off to clear the changing angle) gets the tent stake started out, and the other finishes the job if needed. Otherwise, just tug it up..

The whole thing weighs almost exactly 1 pound so maybe 13-14 oz, for the head. It's clearly lived a hard life, so this is probably a good after retirement job... :D Hammer them into the dirt, a few days later, pull them back out. (the stakes are 12 or 10 " spikes with a washer welded about an inch from the head.) I could have used open end wrench ends, or even a couple of rods welded on, but I had the washers...

After seeing a few storage solutions I decided to copy a rack after seeing a couple on here. I mocked up a simple one out of some scrap that was destined for the wood stove to see how I would like it. So far, I like the idea. I think I'm going to make one out of oak when I decide to get started on a larger, nicer, wood bench.36225ec083a85a294dafc6f15e5f320e.jpg

Just picked up this estwing 24oz ball peen and I gotta say this thing is the most balanced ball peen I ever held. Just feels right in my hand. I think it may be replacing my snappy 24oz db ball peen.

A while back, I was in Home Depot buying a few things. Tools were not on my list, but on my way from the hardware aisle to the cash register, I took a quick detour though the tool department. I saw this hammer...... well, you know how it goes.

Picked this up today and immediately thought of Outlaw! I have a lot of hammers due to this thread but this one takes the cake!

It's a chisel claw hammer made here in the USA

It's like a hammer with a mullet... business in the front and a party in the back!

Seriously, looks cool though...

I picked up this soft face hammer for a couple of bucks with barely a chip of rawhide on each side. Poured a lead slug for one side and turned a piece of delrin (with a lead insert in it) for the other. It's nice to have it when something needs to move and not get boogered up.

Are sure that is Lowe's? It looks more like our local Home depot. They always have a good selection of Estwing.

I didn't take the photo myself, but you can see a Kobalt hammer on the bottom left, so it must be Lowe's. :) Lowe's recently clearanced some of the hammer models they previously carried, to make room for this restock/refresh. The racks were half-empty when I tried (and failed, inventory count was wrong) to find a clearance Vaughan V4 or V5 at one in my area.

The low height of the rack, plus Vaughan hammers, tells me it must be some Super-Lowe's. Lowe's around here do not stock Estwing but have the low height.

The only Vaughan the local HD stocks are pry bars, and the tool aisle is on taller pallet racking.

Was just gonna post the same thing with pics ! Lowes went from a mediocre selection to one that is really impressive. Hammers (nail, drywall, ballpein, mallets, soft faced, driller, & engineering), hatchets, & prybars gallore . Purchased the 16 oz vaughan cf4p and love it.

If I remember correctly a poster from awhile back said he could not find a ballpein at lowes. Now they have a couple of Vaughan wood handles and a really tempting 16oz Estwing.

What a person at Estwing told me is that the deal to display in Home Depot only (out of the big box stores) has expired. Now let us see Vaughan in home depot as a rep of theirs told me they are pushing for it. I personally will pay for the USA hammers ! The other display is presented in two pics as I am not to hot taking pics with my phone.

Cool license plate, lol.

Here's a nice photo from EOC_Jason of a freshly-restocked hammer section at Lowe's:
attachment.php

I recently picked up the 20oz Irwin hammer (2nd row up, 3rd over) and I gotta say it has a nice feel to it. Has a fatter grip which feels good in my hands and a good balanced swing which makes my old hammer feel like a rock on a stick. I'm skeptical about whether it'll hold up to daily abuse or not, but you never know.

LOL, no it's not a Super-Lowe's, just a regular one... They *just* finished stocking it, literally the cart with the setup printout and some spare hammers was right next to me when I took it. They were re-stocking a lot throughout the store, it was a weekday morning-ish...

Another Lowe's just 10min down the street their hammer rack had like 5 hammers total. But I also saw the cart there with the pic for the new layout so I can only assume they were getting ready to re-do it too...

The low height of the rack, plus Vaughan hammers, tells me it must be some Super-Lowe's. Lowe's around here do not stock Estwing but have the low height.

I think that pic was the South Fayetteville store. I went there and to the Springdale store that day for some specific items. But yeah the Rogers & N. Bentonville store are usually total disasters.

I picked up a couple of non-marring hammers from the flea market, no faces of course, but found a decent deal on ebay for replacements which I put on the hammers today.

Cornwell PT-16 (presumably 16oz, it's got some heft)

"It was a grand weekend for outdoor art in Healdsburg.
Construction Arts and Sustainability Academy (CASA) students created a compelling and eerie temporary art installation in the West Plaza on Friday. It will be up for a month.
At the north end of town, a giant hammer, by artist Doug Unkrey, was temporarily installed at the Healdsburg Community Center. ..."

Too bad it's not permanent!

But this one a few hours away is. :)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pierson_Building_Center_giant_hammer

" Pierson Building Center, a locally-owned and operated home improvement center in Eureka, California, is home to the World’s Largest Hammer.

The hammer is a replica of a Vaughan claw hammer (No. D020) and stands 26 feet tall (30 feet overall including the concrete foundation). The octagon-shaped handle is made of real solid wood and is reinforced with a metal I-beam. The hammer's head was fabricated from 18-gauge brushed stainless steel and measures 10 feet, 3 inches in length. All dimensions of the replica are in exact proportion to the original Vaughan hammer.

The hammer was permanently mounted in front of the business on November 12, 1991. It serves as the store's symbol as well as its sign post. Store specials and information are posted on the 12 foot by 7 foot backlit sign that is built into the hammer. "
