Has anyone hung the gladiator 30" wall cabs on something other than using their gear track?

I have a brand new on sitting in the crawl space in the garage. I called Gladiator to ask the same question. If you don't plan on "loading it up" no problem. They don't have weight limits per shelf / cabinet using bolts. They claim the gear track and metal bracket spreak the load and allow for no weight capacity. I guess that makes sense.

If you are no uising the gear track, i would hit studs even if you need to tap some extra holes.

Let me know how you make out. If you need gear track and dont have it is like $ 12 per section at sears and less on ebay.

to hang 4x 30" I need 2 and a half 48" geartrack for top, and again for the bottom, so I am looking at about 5 units about $60 expense, but it's probably the best way to go. Compared to making sure to hitting a stud.

I made the mistake of not trimming the geartrack in my previous time installing these, so have 2 parallel gear track sticking out the side of the cabinets that I put hooks on to hang some extra stuff, but I really did not like the appearance!

If you are going to use the Geartrack PM me and I'll sell you a box of end caps cheap, I bought one box too many when I installed mine.

These I put on the gear track:
Only reason why is because I got three of the tracks free and then bought one... Plus the stud location was a bit odd since I wasn't mounting them right on point...

This one is straight into the studs. I actually thought it was much easier installing it right into the studs to be honest. PLUS it's easier to clean as you won't get dust and **** behind the cabinet like you will when hanging it on the tracks...

Tracks are expensive as well... too espensive for what they do in my opinion then you have to get the endcaps to make a finished look which is FINE, but they charge like $12 for something that should cost half of that...

Either or though you can't go wrong. If you plan on moving the cabinets perhaps the tracks are easier because then you can move the cabinet to different locations on the track.. But as far as mounting it on the wall it was no problems.

In our townhouse I actually just used Toggler bolts (4) of them, and had about 100lbs in the cabinet with zero issues... I feel better when it's mounted on studs though.

Hope that helps.

I had odd stud locations, so mine 30in. ones are lag bolted to 1x4s with sunken deck screws into the studs. Could also hide wiring behind the cabinets. Much cheaper.
