These I put on the gear track:
Only reason why is because I got three of the tracks free and then bought one... Plus the stud location was a bit odd since I wasn't mounting them right on point...
This one is straight into the studs. I actually thought it was much easier installing it right into the studs to be honest. PLUS it's easier to clean as you won't get dust and **** behind the cabinet like you will when hanging it on the tracks...
Tracks are expensive as well... too espensive for what they do in my opinion then you have to get the endcaps to make a finished look which is FINE, but they charge like $12 for something that should cost half of that...
Either or though you can't go wrong. If you plan on moving the cabinets perhaps the tracks are easier because then you can move the cabinet to different locations on the track.. But as far as mounting it on the wall it was no problems.
In our townhouse I actually just used Toggler bolts (4) of them, and had about 100lbs in the cabinet with zero issues... I feel better when it's mounted on studs though.
Hope that helps.
