This is how mine came:

5ff27351.jpg

You can get it into a minivan if you broke it down. Just be sure you've got a few hands for loading and unloading.

I took mine in a Chevy Astro Van with the middle seats removed. They brought it out on a lift cart. After checking the height they flipped it upside down, removed the wood crate and the cardboard lid off the bottom. Lifting it to the right height they slid it into the van upside down on it's top lid. When I got home I slid it out until the edge was lowered to the sidewalk next to the van, then with it far enough out, I rotated the top (Which is of course, the bottom) over until it was resting on its end on the walk. Then I just flipped it over onto its wheels and wheeled it up the walk. I used the same rotation method to get it up my 2 front steps, onto the porch, another step into the vestibule and another step into the living room. Now on its wheels again I removed the top lid and cardboard sides including the thin foam panels that surrounded it. The heavy cardboard lid and foam panels protected it every step of the way as long as I didn't drop it. 1 man job.

Or...before a new "company policy" declares the $349 coupons 'invalid', that's basically what happened with the 20% off coupons. The coupons were still valid, but the new 'company policy' prohibited those coupons to be used for tool box purchases.....

Exactly. They don't have to honor these past right now from what they've done in the past. Why wait around hoping to save $10? I don't see it getting a whole lot better than $349, but who knows.

Re: Couple of Cabinet Coupons!

Sure they could! :) I doubt it though. HF's marketing strategy seems to revolve around coupons.

Right, but I have a feeling very soon we will be looking back and thinking about how $349 was a killer deal. Much the same as we are doing with the $270+ price now. They start raising the prices just a bit here and there, cut some of the coupons out here and there and before you know it, $399 is the super coupon everyone wants.

I'm not saying everyone better run out and grab them, but I think it's more likely they will go up sooner than go below $349 by much.

I wonder if anyone has tried to paint this box? The finish texture sorta reminds me of Hammertone, but the flatness doesn't.

I'm painting mine this spring once it's warm enough. The plan is to sand it just enough to remove the texture.

Did you sand down the drawers? I'm just thinking of spraying over the existing texture.

That looks good, at first I thought it was just another Craftsman box.

Doing the body in a Ford Blue, then sanding and refinishing the drawers in black, then applying a big Ford Oval on a diagonal across that would look pretty sweet.

I just ruffed up the drawers with a scotch-brite pad and wiped them down with paint thinner. A couple spots I hit with 600 sandpaper to smooth it out.

When I went to HF and bought mine, they said the 13-drawer cabinet was one of their best sellers in the store. I laughed and said there's a thread on a forum that I'm on that has a ton of posts about people buying their cabinet.

Finally uncrated mine today. I actually might still buy one if the price was $500. It is as nice as everyone says. I wouldn't wait for the price to drop if you want one. I have a feeling the price will be rising not going down in the future.

Just received an e-mail flyer. 4 day sale (14th - 18th, IIRC), toolbox on sale for $359. I'll post the ad when I get home from work, if it hasn't been posted already.

I got mine tonight with a $349 coupon. I can't wait to load my tools in it tomorrow!

I'm getting mine on Saturday, I can't wait either!

What's the hurry, I've had mine since October, finally got some tools in it last week...........

What! Get that baby loaded up and post some pics :D
Price keeps going up because GJ members keep buying them :)

There will be another one bought this weekend. Already called and confirmed they have 8 in stock

I saw the same thing in my area

Coupons have already been posted for $349 a few posts up.

So can we just print the coupons out and use them?? Or will HF know? Anyone bought it with a scanned coupon?

I scour their ads and email pretty regularly, and haven't seen any for the top chest or side boxes. If I do, I'll post it on here

The bottom box is how they get you hooked. The other boxes sometimes go on sale. But I haven't seen a coupon price since I started looking for the side box.

I have a coupon for the red tool cart box for $169 and a bunch for the black tool cart box for $99. I can't decide which to get. I can get 2 of the black ones for only a $30 more than the red one but the red one seems to be much nicer. Thoughts?

The cart should be in the store for 199. Use the 20% off coupon instead so its $160. Yes it is valid on carts still. If the employees offer any resistance insist they scan the coupon to prove you wrong. Their computer will okay the sale. Carts are also not on the list of exclusions....yet.

The red cart is nicer.

I noticed the red cart has gas struts on the lid... seems kind of a nice way to go.. no lid slamming down, ive been thinking about the red cart too.

the HF in Chico CA will NOT let you use the 20% coupon on the cart... NO way NO how.. i asked them to just go ahead and scan it, just to see.... NOPE ! You cant grab the scanner away from them or force them in some other way ... if they wont do it ... they just wont.

I might give a different HF a try... if i could use the 20% on the $169 price id do it.

Not for nothing but i'd look the manager in the face and ask him if he really wants to make a fuss and lose a sale over $10. If he continues on i'd ask for the phone and call HF corporate and have THEM tell him its okay to sell it for $160, then i'd walk out without buying it.

Anyone who works in a store like that, with their $5 socket sets and $10-$20 power tools which they'll happily apply the 20% coupon to any day of the week, and then puts up a fight over a $10 difference on a $160 sale, is working in the wrong damn store in my opinion.

The HF in Grand Rapids (MI) let me use the 20% off coupon on the 7 drawer side cabinet. The lady at the register was great and ran it as an "open box" item to give me the deal. On sale for $199 plus 20% off...not a bad deal.

I did try to press my luck and asked her to do the same thing on the bottom cabinet but she wouldn't budge...oh well.

The reason the stores are so strict is because corporate demanded it. $10 is not worth hassling them about it. It's a great deal at $169. The red one is very nice but it is also bulky and tall. I have the black one and love it. Either cart is an incredible deal!
