I bought the upper and the lower chest awhile back and was totally content but knew one day I would get two of the end locker cabinet. Realizing it was my last chance to pick up matching sides I went on ahead and got them now even though I didn't have a budget for them. I'm using the two sides to hang my work shirts and coveralls so I have no use for the shelves that came with them.

If anyone is interested in buying 2 shelves with all the brackets for the side locker. Shoot me a PM.

I was just at my local HF and they now have the gloss box in stock. It looks NICE!!!!

They were also clearing out crinkle finish lockers for $135 each. They had four left.

Gus,

Which HF had them for $135? I was just at my local HF (Urbana, IL) and they had a few crinkle finish lockers left but would not sell them for $135. I'd bite for $135 but not at $199.

its up to the manager as far as what he'll mark it down to.. we have the display bottom box only left. we sold the top box today for 200.. and the 7 drawer side for 120..

the bottom box i think the store manager said he'll mark down to 300..

side lockers we're out of..

i havent seen the shiney version yet.. we have the shiney top and sides in. no bottom boxes yet..

Davenport, IA store was the store with the marked down lockers. They were sitting right by the front door.

My store sold out of the rough finish and displayed the glossy over the past weekend.
They had the side locker left from the display, but sold all of the 7-drawer cabinets at full price.

Looks like mine will be a mismatched pair. :(

Somebody else may have posted this, but with the crinkle finish, I used Dymo magnetic label tape to make drawer labels I can read from the top

Has anyone replaced the fixed casters with swivels to make it easier to maneuver? Any reason why this wouldn't be a good idea?

I searched this thread, didn't find anything...

How do you guys unload this thing? I have a truck but I have no idea how I would get it down on the ground once I got home.

Here's how I unloaded mine:

I didn't have any help with me to unload it but utilized my engine hoist and a couple of ratchet straps. Came off the truck without ANY hassle!

I'm no rigging expert and don't claim to be so proceed at your own risk if you do the same thing.

There's even an entire thread dedicated to unloading the 56" cabinet: http://garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=135527

Just got mine. For thoes who want to hear about what it is like compared to my CM (Waterloo) box, here it is:

Better paint quality on the HF box. Hands down- powde coat vs. enamel is never a fair fight ever

Drawers are sturdier than the CM- thicker steel, some drawers have 2 slides per side, smoother action.

Wheels- bearing wheels with zerk fittings versus the CM non bearing ones.

I'd put it on a par with the CM professional box, with better paint quality. Pleased with it, and I was very skeptical going in.

Two guys- me and a friend unloaded it by hand out of my Ford truck. Heavy but easy hand holds if you take off the bottom pallet.

just registered to find some info on harbor freight products, looks like im at the right place. in reference to unloading it took about 5 guys to load on truck when I got home it was my son in law and me, it was quite a task, moved a little at a time and leveraged to the ground.

I was able to slide mine off the truck by myself while still in the "crate". Well, it may have made it the last 6 inches or so on it's own. :)
Undamaged.

IIRC, my dad and I unloaded mine. It was just the cardboard box, no wood. Slid it down off the tailgate to the ground and then put it on some dolleys to roll it into the garage for unpacking.

See post #27 in this link below for some photos. I removed the crate, cardboard, and all the drawers. I had my wife and son help and it was no problem emptied like that. After we lowered it we reinstalled the drawers and rolled it into place. The wheels and casters were already installed.

When I bought mine, I got the display model from the store so it was already uncrated. My dad and I just lifted it right off the tailgate and down to the ground. Not that heavy for 2 people.

any idea if the $349 coupon works with the new part number?

The part no.(s) each coupon works for should be in the upper right hand side of the coupon.

Newer coupons should have two different box codes seperated by a slash.

The challenge now with the changeover is confirming the coupon works with both the crinkle coat box and the new gloss red box.

Keep in mind there are a few black versions of the box floating round out there (usually special order but I have been in a few HF stores that had them on display) so you really need to confirm the p/n you are looking for and then read that against the coupon p/n's.

It's an easy task once you ID the p/n's for each box. And all that info is here in GJ somewhere. :)

i understan what you are saying. i am a former H-f employee, i understand the system. let me rephrase my question. since this new $359 coupon is valid for both part numbers, has anyone tried using one of the older $349 coupons on the new part number. its a chance it may work. i am going to bring both coupons with me and see if i can get them to match it to $349

Just returned from picking up the new gloss red box and top box, used the $359 coupon. What a deal. Very nice finish, smooth drawer operation and good strong detents on the drawers (I do not like or need locks on each drawer.)
Glad I waited for the glossy red.
Uncrated right on the lowboy trailer, rolled down the ramp and into the garage by myself. Not a big deal at all.

They sell some nice drawer organizers too.

Call the store and ask if they will accept printed coupons. The worst you're out is a few minutes for a call.
