I looked at this unit this PM. I have a "good for me" set. This unit looks very nice for the $$$. If I was looking for another unit this is without doubt what I would have. I now work for Lowes previously worked for Sears, and HD. I am a home project and dirtbike rider so I have a lot of diffrent types of tools and this unit would serve me well.

I recently bought the same box from KMS Tools in Canada. Same box but with Bynford Pro name on it. Weighs about 250lbs. No problem loading it in the back of my RAV 4 flying flat on its back. Truck would have been easier though.

i went to my local HF to pick up some misc items. i rent to the back to the Clarence section and found a mint open box short side cabinet marked 181. i talked to the manager and after some haggling i walked out the door with it for $100.................

now i just need to get two of the 44" bottoms and make me a nice work bench/tool box.

I have been lurking for some time and found this place in my searching for a work bench/tool box for my garage. Figured I would share my newly acquired setup. 2 HF boxes and a Home Depot kitchen counter top... I still want to put an end cabinet on one side still... Sorry for the mess, still trying to get organized...

I'm thinking about getting 2 of these http://www.harborfreight.com/roller-cabinet-44-13-drawer-gloss-red-industrial-uality-68784.html and two of these http://www.harborfreight.com/7-drawer-red-end-cabinet-for-roller-tool-chest-68785.html to make a woodworking bench that could be connected long ways and make a 24" x 126" bench or connected back to back and have a 48" x 63" (or so... I may make them longer depending on space). So my question is? Is anyone out there a Inside Track Club member? Could I get a better deal if I become a ITC member? Keep in mind that the 20% coupon does not work for "tool storage"

Thanks for any feedback.

I'm an ITC member (was a gift) and have never seen an ITC specific coupon for the bottom chest.

Did y'all know that even part-time HF employees receive a 20% discount EVERY DAY on EVERY ITEM in the store -- unlike us with our 20% coupon?

So, if you happen to have a friend...

Well I got my 44" base cabinet and the 7 drawer side cabinet. MAN I wish I had been reading Garage Journal years ago when I bought my Husky & Craftsman tool boxes. These are NICE!!! I also got them with the "General PRO" emblem on them which is a stick on without through holes like some of the other emblems. That means I can take them off and not have to worry about what to do about the holes.

The one thing that I AM PISSED about is living in a podunck big town where none of the stores carry what the real stores do in real towns. I mean we have a population of ~200 000 people. You would think that the Lowes or O'reilly automotive stores would carry the Seymour paints that they say they carry.

Case in point. I asked somewhere on this site who made a color that matches. They said that the Seymour Safety Red was a good match. Could I find it anywhere today?!?!?! NO!!!!

The reason I'm wondering about this is that because of Garage Journal. Because of you guys, I have an idea of a set up that I want to do to change over my woodworking setup that I think will make my time out in the shop more efficient.

I'm also thinking that I will be selling all of my other toolboxes and changing over to the HF stuff.

I'll start a new thread with my build status. I think you guys will enjoy it - especially since you guys inspired it.

Congrats on the boxes, M3rl3n. They are great boxes. Switched from Craftsman myself.

You don't mention where you live (not in your profile either), but if you have a Lowes or O'Reilly, it's not really podunk. LOL.

how much/what size was the hd counter top. i need to get one for my boxes. i have an end cabinet i am putting in the middle.

Home Depot & Lowes carry 8' and 10' counter tops. They are standard in width and fit perfectly over the tops of these boxes. Unfortunately were I want to put this was only 8'. 10' would have blocked the window. I am planning on putting a lift in the garage at some point thus why it is somewhat important in the planning and placement of stuff.

I know... we have the stores, but they don't carry stuff for the "real" do it yourselfer. I live in a small town called Robins, just north of Cedar Rapids, IA. I do have to get my profile updated. I have built a lot of stuff, but that's what makes the job of filling out my profile a little daunting.

BTW 787B huh? The company that I work for has some stuff on the 787. Yours too?

The good thing is I go home to visit my family in Wisconsin and on the way I go through Madison. They have real stores there. It's just a little inconvenient to run up there for a can of paint. ;)

Picked up the 13 drawer chest and the top chest this week. Interestingly, they both had the old style stick-on "US General Pro" labels rather than the newer style with alignment pins on the back. That just made them easier to remove!!

I've been lurking on this thread for a few months and finally joined the inside track yesterday....can't wait for a coupon in the mail or email for one of these boxes! Then I can finally consolidate tool boxes (5 to be exact) into two or one with a side box... We will see. :rocker:

You guys are killin' me! This winter I took apart my old workbench to rebuild it. then changed my mind after lurking on GJ. I have it half together waiting for inspiration. In the mean time I bought a nice oak butcher block slab on sale from Menards for the top and put a few coats of poly on it.

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/stufffromthekilinskis/8590196837/" title="DSCN3821 by theclaw900, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8384/8590196837_c7c08a4f32.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="DSCN3821"></a>

Now I'm waiting to put something underneath it. In the meantime I buy this old rolling cabinet off CL that used to be in a FedEx store. It's massive but holds a bunch. So needless to say I have this mixed up set up.

I was thinking of doing a Steevo but after seeing this idea I just might have to jump on the band wagon. Only thing, my slab is 8ft long. That would require two boxes. that's more that I feel like spending right now. I need to figure a scheme to support the 8ft countertop on the 44" box. I'm taking suggestions.

Square tubing and a welder to create some legs on one or two sides.

Yeah, thought of that. Don't have a welder but could probably find one to borrow.

Good reason to practice my welding.
You can buy extra legs too if you don't want to go the welding route. They are rather inexpensive.

Here's a sample I saw on ebay:

Just had this delivered and wanted to add some info. Harbor Freight does not include delivery by a lift truck in the cost of their shipping. Use of a lift truck to deliver was going to be another $140. I decided to risk it and the delivery driver and I were able to unload it no problem. He was a young, strapping lad so that helped! Haven't had time to use it yet but have high hopes based on this thread.

Bought my 44" yesterday, my coupon was expiring on the 27th!

Kid at the store helped me get it in my truck, I got it out alone - not as hard as the stuff I move at work!

Finally finished my garage so it was time to pick it up! They pack these things with a silly amount of packing material, but it has ZERO damage.
