Well I wandered around HF for about an hour today debating. I saw the new what is it 26" box they have on sale for $349(top and bottom box). Its the one with a gloss red coating. Pretty nice box, and seems solid.

I went back and forth between it and the 41" box, checking out drawers, casters etc. They are very similar in construction and the gloss paint looks great over the crinkle finish. In the end I went with the 41" box because I like the drawer configuration much better and I like the added workspace up top. Been watching craigslist for months now and this is the best deal I could find in my budget. Glad I found this thread it seems like a decent value for the money, No regrets.

Oh, and I unloaded it out of my pickup by myself by hand.:pimpflash

I was going to ask about that, home depot here has an 11 drawer 53" waterloo box for $349, no clue if its as good, but the HF box claims to have triple the load capacity, so I bet the depot box is thinner material. Also has 8 drawer top for $249
But, havent seen in person to know yet

It's not, I checked them both out, the Waterloo box at HD is very much like a low end Craftsman box, same company right???, with external locking bars and flimsy feeling drawers. I have a couple of the ball bearing Craftsman (Waterloo) boxes and they are okay, but if I had joined here before buying them I probably would have had purchased the one at HF.

Heard that. I think I am gonna get the HF box top and bottom and sell my 2 craftsman boxes and never look back. I dont have enough tools yet to make the HF one hurt, my big craftsman drawers sway back and forth when full of pliers. I have the low end boxes though, not even ball bearing

Just an FYI I found this page, keep an eye on it...lots of coupons to use and print, they seem to be on top of all the deals. They also post the ITC coupons. I am still going through it printing a few off

You da man.

Oh, congratulations on or new tool box

Gary

Yeah, It was pretty sketchy and i wouldn't have done it that way if I didn't have to, but its unloaded and I didn't drop it and damage it:lol_hitti

I unpacked it today, I'll have to move some things around and find the right fit in my dinky 10x22 garage. I went from this packed completely full with larger tools and odds and ends all over the garage

Can you scan the receipt? Hard to believe any store is allowing that since it would require a manager override.

Not only a managers override. But around here when you were allowed to use the 20% for toolboxes they wouldn't allow you to use it with a super coupon.

He got a awesome deal. Congratulations.

he said raincheck. not supercoupon. prolly didn't have any in stock when he brought a coupon in so they wrote up a raincheck for the coupon price.

Actually I did have a raincheck on the super coupon - they messed up

They really should not have done the 20% or they should have done the 20% on the 399 sale price.

I just got lucky

No scanner - sorry

It was a new store in amherst NH. I had called them and they said the computer showed 2 in stock. I got there and they said it was a screwup in the computer - they gave me a raincheck

Then they got the box in last week - went there with my raincheck and the 20% coupon

A little shady on my behalf I admit - but it worked.

you were lucky because the store I went to refuse to take 20% coupon on tool cabinet. it's their store policy now. no % off coupon on welder, tool cabinet, floor jack, ...etc. I guess your cashier was new as well and might not be aware of the new policy.

There are definitely stores still taking the 20% off of toolboxes. It would be near impossible to stack coupons. A rain-check might be the one conceivable way. :)

So how many more times do we need to establish what the company policy is on toolboxes and coupons?

Pretty sure that it's well known now and that someone will still get away with it just like there are people who get away with stacking coupons. It happens more than is documented in this thread.

Just sayin.......

so if i walk in with a inside track coupon will they just let me use it, i dont need no id card or valid email or anything?

Store policy is "if you are an ITC club member, you have to have your ITC card and coupons to get the price." Now, just like the 20% coupon, some stores are following policy and some ain't. Our registers won't even take the 20%'s on the blocked items, but I have never tried an ITC coupon to see if it will accept it without the ITC card. Gonna have to try one tomorrow when I get to work.

Does anyone have the part number for the drawer slides/rails for these boxes? I need both the drawer side and the box side pieces, if they come separate.

Hello folks

Went to my HF this morning and got my tool box for $319.00. I was able to use the 20% coupon and did not have any problems at all, everyone I spoke to was very accommodating. Got a bunch of organizers with it and been playing with it since I got it home. It is really a great tool box for the price, gotta love all these drawers ! ! ! Wanted to thank Colonial Cobra who started this post WAY back when and all the other members who have "kept it alive" ... I feel that I got a great deal for $319.00 so I don't even want to think how I would have felt if I got it for $271.00 ! ! !

Was able to unload it alone and had to hoist it up to the 2nd floor which was a breeze ...

Thanks again garagejournal !!!!

When I saw these boxes were over 300 lbs I was hesitant to pick one up thinking it would be hard to unload. I'm glad I pulled the trigger, the box is great and a piece of cake to unload from a truck bed.

The kid at the store loaded it with a fork lift then laid the crate down flat on it's back. When I got home I just backed the truck into the garage to the tailgate was over the concrete and my father-in-law and I just slide it out and set the crate down on it's feet without any problem.

In the box with the handle and long screws were two short bolts, any idea where these bolts are supposed to be used???

I looked this box over very closely and compared the two. I must have been in the store for an hour or so, they were starting to look at me like I was going to rob the place, lol. It has a nice gloss finish but it scratches easy, seems to be on par as far as quality goes with the 13 drawer boxes but different configuration and smaller drawers. I had to get the 13 drawer for the work space up top and liked the larger drawers, krinkle finish, and configuration much better. The small ones seem like a good deal though as well, depends on what YOU want and what you have room for I guess.

They are for securing a side box.

Does anyone have a link to the 349 coupon that expires 12/20?

The link to the HF November page has changed to Dec and the bottom box isn't listed on it.

Thanks for the coupon! I'm going to try to get in on this before every GJ member buys one and they sell out.
