I gotta chance to buy the box and a side cabinet for $400 used some scratches and pretty dirty but really wanna get it for 350 but guys firm at 400. what to do??

How important is the side box to you?

If you don't need/want it, you are basically paying $400 for a scratched/used tool box, that can be bought new for $350 (+ tax).

On the other hand, if you really need/want the side cabinet, you are getting it for a reduced cost...not too bad of a deal, depending upon overall condition.

I really like mine I was positively surprised with the built and how smooth the drawers are, been busy organizing it all and come to think about it, I might try to get a second one ... You can NEVER have too many toolboxes ... or am I wrong ???

Well dirt is easy to clean off, but I bought my mint conditon bottom for $275 recently and felt it was a fair price. Keep in mind $400 out the door is still a decent price, if you were to go into the store now and buy you'd pay:

$350 bottom
$200 side cabinet
Tax, say 7% average
------------------
$590 out the door

Savings of $190

It's not about what they bought it for last month, last year, or last decade. It's what you can get it for now and the condition its in.

Weeeeeelp... pulled the trigger last night. I got the top and bottom box. I used the 349 coupon for the bottom, but I didn't try the 20% thing. Given the attitude and carelessness of the cashier I am 90% sure I could have made it work though.

I am very impressed with the quality of these boxes. I don't think you can even compare this to the similar priced Huskey and Craftsman boxes. I really debated on this or the Craftsman 40" with it being on sale for 50% off right now. But after bringing this home and messing with it, I am so glad I went this direction. I could not believe how heavy the bottom box was. When I saw people talking about 2 or more people to unload it, I didn't believe it. But yes, it is heavy!

How/where did you get this coupon locally? I have a friend who really wants/needs this tool box. The latest flyer he has shows the 399.99 price. was this coupon on the shelf at the store? If it makes any difference he is closest to the pontiac store.

My wife just have me a HF page from the paper with the $349 coupon good until 4/12/11, so I've got some time. I went to Sears and played with the 52" they have there for 1K, and I was honestly a little disappointed. I'm leaning towards this box more and more, and I think I might have to go grab it after Christmas sometime. The tool cart has been calling my name as well at $199. Does anyone know for sure if the new 20% off restrictions apply to tool carts as well? I didn't see anything about that on the new 20% off coupon I got. It does say tool cabinets though.

Well I went and picked one up yesterday. I tried for 20% but no go, so used it on the glove holder on the side. $350 worked no problem. They dropped in the back of my truck and I was on my way. Was def. surprised at how well it was secured to the pallet. Mine however has a wobble to it, hence the bit of cardboard. Not putting it past the garage floor but has anyone else's had one? Other than that really pleased with it. I was torn b/t the Craftsman 40" 14 lower and 8 upper for 699, BB/GL. But I do believe this is just as good. Now just have to get to filling it up. I might get a whole nother strictly socket set for this one as I have a small Craftsman bolted down in the back of my Jeep that needs to be stocked as well when out on the trail and it ***** moving things back and forth b/c you eventually forget something you need. Anyways, the obligatory box shot

The top is cluttered since I was trying to sort things out. I gave up since it was way to cold. I think I'll get the 7 drawer side and then make a nice top to go over it.

Picked up my second 13 drawer tool box today and it was a no go on the 20% off coupon, but I had a coupon for $349 so I went for it even though I got my first one with the 20% off coupon, different manager today so it was a different deal all together. It was a "pregnant woman with an attitude" I had to deal with, so did not try to argue or get into it at all, oh well, still a great deal I feel for $349. Also got the glove holder thingy, pretty convenient.

If yours wobbles csmitty, as williaty mentions, make sure to check the casters, I have had no problem with mine whatsoever, they are really nice, sturdy and really well made and for the price you can't beat that, comparing to other brand and for the size and amount of storage space, it is really a great deal. I am thinking about getting the rolling cart for $169 when it goes on sale in a few days ...

I did check the casters, one of the fixed seems to have one bolt of the 4 loose as its not compressing the lock washer. haven't gone around and put a wrench on them all yet though. The drill press in the corner has a wobble to. So who knows. If anythnig can just make a spacer or put a washer behind the mount.

my brother dropped by over the weekend with an early christmas gift.

Definitely check the casters. On the one he got me it was completely missing some split lock washers. I plan to replace the the bolts and washers entirely with brass or stainless as the ones installed [or not] are cheap ****. Other than that its good and solid. No wobble.

N00b here...I'm so glad I've come across this thread (and this board. a whole board dedicated to garages and tools...WIN!). I've seen these boxes in the catalogs, but always dismissed them assuming they were junk. I've long outgrown my 26" Craftsman triple stack, and will be buying new boxes within the next few months...these are at the top of my list to check out now. Thanks guys!

Yes, the side cab will bolt to either side of the roller.

They're for attaching the side cab to the roller, if they're the ones I think you're talking about. It's hard to be sure without a size.
