Forgive me if this is not the right thread to be asking this. I've been to HF and looked at the 44" box. I have a Snap on 40" KRA series box. For the price the quality of the HF box is really close to that of the SO box. What I'm wondering are there other boxes out there that are similar quality to the HF box in the same (coupon $370) price range? I just want to explore my options before I go for the HF box.
I've been thinking of selling my SO box. It's a Dale Earnhardt Jr edition. I've got a collection of stickers I want to apply but don't want to do so on the SO box.

On the HF web site there are 2 SKUs for the 44" toolbox, Item#69387 and Item#68784. The dimensions and weights are the same. Anyone know if there's any difference between the two?

Long time lurker, first post. Love this forum and all the information.
The 44 box will be $349 on BF. I will be getting one soon.
The older adds/coupons said that the "44" weighed 306 pounds -- now the web site says 245 pounds. Are the newer ones less heavy-duty than the ~2011 ones?

Guys, just a tip that may or may not work for ya, i went in saturday and told the lady at the counter i wanted this box, gave here my 20% off coupon ( that i knew didnt work on boxes, just figured i'd try) after she said it didnt work, she called her manager up, and he said if i signed up for their 1 year membership " insider club" for 29.99 that he would give me the 20% off. So just messing around i told him to give me a better deal if i gotta deal with the junk mail and he gave me 35% off, so the box was 369.99+29.99 membership, roughly 400 bucks then then 35% off that. out the door for a little under 300 for the box and insider membership! They get brownie points for getting members
Receipt copy? I've dealt with a lot of different HF's and have never seen them be this generous. You must have caught them on a good day.
its gone. cool 50/60's color. id rock one over the red
Seems like they would make a black, blue and ??? production run once a year to garner as much interest/market as possible.
I have a red combo HF set but would really rather have a black or smoke grey set.
I agree. HF could easily have short runs of blue, yellow, orange, black or grey.

sounds like a business opportunity.
1. Find out color numbers of snap on boxes (color numbers are published).
2. Paint hf boxes with these colors.
3. Sell.
are they made here in america or just chinese junk that hf sells
Owning a Mac tools 44. A matco 57 and 2 hf44........they re lacking truck brand quality. For the price they re the best out there, though. Its been proven they are tough.Harbor Freights tool boxes and chests are all made in China like most boxes. But these tool boxes and carts are of very high quality and just as good as any truck brands if not better. I have a few of them.

I am a Toolahoilc,Sometimes I regret it,Especially when the Toolman wont give me no credit
I have a crinkle top and bottom in VA I would sell...I hope they keep the red. I found out too late that they went to smooth finish and looked everywhere, even called corp office trying to find a second one in crinkle finish bit no luck. Black tool boxes are too dark inside for my tastes, plus they show every nick, smudge, dust across the shop.
