Harbor freight 44"box question

Hey all, Question for those with the harbor freight box. Im looking to get one, but I want it to be able to fit the hansen style trays they sell at lowes in that my sockets are sitting on. Will the 1/2" drive trays fit in that top long drawer? I know they'll clear the 56", but Id prefer the 44". Thanks!

i have Sunex impact sockets on my HF trays and they fit just fine

top drawer is 36 5/8" inside width, I think you have to offset the 1/2" trays

I believe this is correct... you will need to put one of the 1/2" trays in the back and the other up front. Or some other staggered combination.

Just got the Harbor Freight Father's Day Coupon. The 44" box will be on sale for $379.

Is this pretty much the best price for this box? Are there any coupons or other discounts that can be applied?

Do you mean fit as in height-wise? Or length wise?

I have Hansen 1/2" trays in the top drawers of two of my HF 44" boxes.
They fit fine height wise.
They fit sideways but not front-to-back.
You can't fit two side-by side, they add up to more than the drawer length.

Unless you think you're going to have 1/2" drive 25mm & 27mm sockets, I say cut the tray. These things are what, $10 for a pack of 3??? That will give you far more flexibility and greater use of space. If you ever do need the full tray, go buy another set in 5 years.

I'm just getting my new tool box organized, and I see a lot of plastic tool tray/divider/rack cutting in the future.

If anyone has cut these before, chime in with what works best -

Does a fine tooth table saw blade shatter the plastic? Melt it?
Is a band saw better?
Cut with the blade in reverse like some other finicky materials?

I cut those stupid peg tabs off my HF Trey's with a 4 1/2" grinder with a cutting wheel. It did melt the plastic a little but hell when the plastic cools it breads right off and it's just a socket Trey.
