When a company staffs it customer service department, it needs to have people or a process that actually helps, not just go thru the motions.

But that costs money - HF is a cut-rate operation.

LOL

Home Depot is a $110 billion a year company and as threads here attest their employees/cs **** ***, just like most ever other “I hate [insert company name] customer service”

Welcome to the workforce of the 21st century.

Pay them ****, treat them like ****, give them **** hours, then act surprised when they don’t give a ****.

Their response was not generic. They helped you in a very professional manner. They handled a problem that you created for yourself; and they handled it in just one phone call.

First, let’s summarize your entire grievance and take out all the impertinent stuff about the cost, colors, you calling other stores, top box and dents etc.:

1. You bought a box from harbor freight.
2. You locked your keys in the box.
3. You called harbor freight and they shipped you out a replacement lock and key (you don’t say it but I assume, they shipped it free of charge?).
4. You got a new lock and key in 15 days. Again, the complaints about USPS, FedEx, 15 miles from your house, are not harbor freight issues at all.
5. You did not have the mental acuity to be able to open, drill out or unlock the locked box.

If you get this frustrated and worked up in dealing with a simple issue of how to unlock a box, good luck with working on anything mechanical.

Its amazing that you can set at a computer and analyze my abilities with so little information. So lets see just how accurate your assumptions are.

1.I bought a toolbox. You got that right.
2. You locked your keys in your box. Wrong The design of the box caused it to rotate from unlocked to locked on its own. Explained in other post
3.Called HF they sent a replacement Correct again
4.Complaint about 15 day shipping not HF fault Wrong They choose who they use to ship parts. The USPS could do it in less than 15 days. It took them 3 days to get the lock to the shipper. I doubt that anyone on here expects something they order to take 2 weeks to arrive. Maybe if it was shipped from China, but not in the US.

This last statement shows real arrogance on your part. So lets see what my capabilities are. Worked as an engineman on a both conventional and nuclear submarines. Completed a 4 yr machinist apprenticeship at a government installation and operated conventional and NC machinery. Was a member of an EAA Aero club and the owner of the shop had me do the rebuilds on several aircraft engines as well other mechanical repairs. Built my own house with garage and then built my own 40x 60 pole barn shop with two home built overhead cranes inside. Have a 15" Clausing lathe I converted to single phase, and a Bridgeport mill that I run off a phase converter that I built from scratch. I can mig and tig and have my own Miller welders and an Esab. Got a Hypertherm plasma cutter, welding/cutting torch. I built my own ring filer and valve spring tester from scratch and am currently building a *********** bead roller. Got a 10 ft leaf brake and a 4' finger brake, a slip roll, a hydraulic tube bender, and a Sunnen hone. I have three hot rod projects I'm building that include completely replacing a frame with a later model one, boxing a frame and installing Corvette front suspension with a Nascar sway bar incorporated as my own design. It has a triangulated four bar rear suspension with coil overs and a 9" ford rear. Today, when I get off the computer I'm going out to the shop and repair some panels for a friends backhoe. Yea, I'm the guy in the neighborhood that everyone brings their stuff to when they need it repaired.....for free.
So I would say your astute powers of observation got this one WRONG. I would also say that if the worst mistake I ever made in my shop and on all these kinds of projects was to lock a key in a box, I'd be very happy. Obviously, like anyone who works with tools I have made far worse mistakes than that and I have the scars to prove it.

You’re being unreasonable.
There are huge delivery delays due to COVID. Not kidding at all.
HF sources most of their components from Asia.
The fact they got it to you within 2 weeks is absolutely incredible with the delays that all shippers are facing and the lack of air travel that is occurring globally.

Nothing you've written is going to change anyone's mind one way or another about Harbor Freight. Might want to get that OCD evaluated. :spit:

Qualified on the USS Robert E Lee SSBN 601 and then requalified on the USS Sterlet SS392 out of Hawaii. The first boat went thru an overhaul at Mare Island Naval Shipyard and I was too short on my enlistment to complete the overhaul. I was given a choice between extending my enlistment or being transferred to a WW2 boat out of Hawaii.
I said "Aloha"..........

I notice you were a Machinist Mate....that was my rating too but worked in the engine room.

I do admit the diversions into absurdity are fun, especially when they are used by you as proof of personal awesomeness.

Glad you noticed. At least you can recognize that someone shouldn't cast aspersions when they are clueless about the person they are critizing......

Sure seems to be a lot of people practicing psychology over the internet.

Just read thru all this,
Mingia Foch! You gotta be kidding me.
You locked the keys in a toolbox? HOW?!?!?
Barrel locks don't turn themselves, and drawers don't close/latch with the lock already locked.
Simple answer is - You have a Poltergiest.

Hmmf, it self locks, eh. I would have drilled it out and ground off the face. That soft metal might have been pretty gummy. Then looked into the self locking issue. You have to get your head around the fact, you are only buying a kit to modify.

Obviously HF doesn't have a high level of service, so ICON buyers should be aware .

Cheap toolboxes are nice, they come with drawers.

On the HF boxes drawers that already open can be shut if the lock already in the locked position, it a feature of both manufacturers of the box although lock mechanism has differences between them ...
He had it locked with drawers open then closed drawers with keys in them .
