I've been looking at the HF 30" red tool cart and mostly like what I see. Just wondering if y'all have any opinions on it? Also suggestions for other brands are also welcome. Thanks, D

I have a heavily modified Black 4-Drawer and my Father-In-Law has the Red 5-Drawer. Both have been great in our home shops, and are amazing value for the money. Many people on here use them for home shops, and quite a few in pro garages. A lot of guys heavily modify them to suit their needs. Long running thread HERE. Granted they are not the same quality as name brand carts, but they are also in a vastly different price range. If taken care of the HF carts will last a very long time.

I have 3 of the red ones. Just too cheap and too good to pass up. Watch for the sales as I got my last red one for $170!

They are great carts both the 4 drawer black and the 5 drawer red. The 5 drawer red is built a little better.. If you guys like I will do a review on them both on my website autofixpal.com.

I have had the red stationary in my garage for almost 2 years and been using the black cart professionally at work for over 2 years. I just took the red 5 drawer to my job last week as I wanted to carry more tools on the cart for less trips to my box while in the middle of a job.

3 of my Co workers have the black and 2 of my Co workers have the red. I know they are built well.

I've got the red one. Love it. I also have a Matco cart. So I have a frame of reference as to quality. I wish I had never bought the Matco one, that way I'd have a matched set of HF ones. Keith

By 30" red cart, you might mean the one with the drawers or the service cart.

I own both, the 5 drawer unit is definitely worth the money. The service cart isn't great, it could probably stand some reinforcing (or replacement with a Rubbermaid cart).

I have one of each one of the red and one of the black. In sain amount of tools you can get in both and they both work like a trooper. Both are pretty stout boxes and i have way less invested in them than a truck box. Not saying the truck boxes are bad there nice just cannot justify spending that much for a home restoration shop.

I picked up a 30" red 5 drawer cart today for $167.23. Thanks for the coupon LB-1911. pepgj, thanks for clarifying the issue. I didn't know there was a service cart also. It went together perfectly, all holes lined up with no problems. It does seem like a very sturdy cart.

The 18" side cabinet can be added for even more storage if you run out.

Anyone know how to pull the drawers on the red cart? One of the small ones on my cart stopped closing all the way. I suspect something fell behind it, but I need to pull the drawer to find out.

Several guys at work have the H.F. carts. The black ones can turn over if they are lightly loaded. I have not seen a red one turn over yet. We build control panels so most of the boxes are not loaded to heavily. I like the red five drawer but have not got one yet.

Are you implying the HF cart is better than the Matco one? I'm thinking of picking up a HF rollaway chest vs a Snap On version at 1/3 the cost.

Pull the drawer to it's fully extended position. Find this little black tab on each drawer slide, and push or pull it to release the drawer. The left side you pull it up, the right side you push it down. You should be pushing/pulling the beveled side. You can see in the pic the smudges on the metal from the tab moving.

I was skeptical about buying one but when I went to HF I asked the guy to open the box and sure enough it had a small bend. He ended up giving the 5 drawer to me for $120 and I took a chance on it. I think the quality of the metal is fine and its actually quite sturdy. My only gripe is that the drawer slides are a bit cheap. I slapped a Snap On sticker on but Im keeping it for myself. No one can even tell.
