The thing with the cheapie HF models is that you need to be able to inspect the spindle/quill for run out to make sure it is tight and not wobbly.

They must hold their value very well.....every time I see one on craigslist the person want new price for them...

Get a good used vintage one, way better

I've worked it pretty hard for about a year now and aside from the handles loosening up I haven't had a single issue.

Teflon plumber's tape on the threads of the handles where they screw into the mount will take care of those loose handles readily. Easy and quick to do.

I've got one of the HF drill presses, and so far, it's poked a hole in everything I've needed holes...

Not going to lie to you, I'd have rather found a used Craftsman/Rockwell/Clausing/etc to restore, but there weren't any on offer, at the time...

Still, I can't say that they're not worth what Harbor Freight is charging for them...

Decent...not great...but decent...
