I'm tempted to get it, then cut off the triple end and replace it with a quad box. Nice to have that many connections when doing some outside work and not have to keep swapping one cord for another.

Bet it was made when copper was $4-5/lb, now it's back to about $2.

$129 at northern for a single end:

http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_6970_200314939_200314939

$111 at amazon, single end:

$151 at amazon, single end:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00176DW1K/?tag=atomicindus08-20

Here's one for $89.99, but if HF is local, I'm sure shipping would even out the deal (still single end):

http://www.loumarks.com/23wire.html

$247 for two of them:

I'm not sure why you think $109 is out of line.

It's made in China.... it's supposed to be $19.99 or something.

I figure if I'm gonna pay that kind of money, I might as well find one that's made in the U.S. with a silicone outer jacket like I want.

Let's see here, Copper closed at 2.71 or so on fri. Which means that after everyone gets their piece the people making the extension cords are probably paying about $3.50-4 a pound for wire and I will bet that their is 5+lbs of Cu in a 50 ft extension cord so how in the world do you sell them for $19.99?

The Chinese are starting to charge higher prices for their stuff it seems.

no, the chinese are probably still charging the same, the shareholders of the company selling to the citzens where the product is being sold are the ones benefitting...........

Because that's what those Chinese mother effers do ... they undercut everybody and find a way to sell things cheap.

Funny, when I was a kid in Southeast Asia, the complaint was 'those darn Yankees, keep finding ways to make things cheaper'. Heard it a lot, serious complaints from the guys from OZ, the Aussies and the Brits.
Got lectures on how shoddy, poor, cheap the US made stuff was, how it ran the craftsman and their apprentices out of business.
Heard LOTS of **** about how American cars, like say the 68 Camaro, or 68 Mustang, were junk compared to the hand built, high manual labor Brit cars.

Of course, the Brit cars ran like ****, leaked oil, had faulty electric, etc. etc. but they were built by British workmen, (who sat on their asses, drank beer on the job, and couldn't be fired) so they were vastly superior.

Think your arguments are new, original, or even meaningful?
Learn about capitalism, not the lies taught in school today.
Protectionism, which you espouse, brings DOWN quality, brings UP prices and kills jobs, kills innovation, kills caring about your product.
American cars were the finest in the world, then among the worst.
Gee, why is that? Must be because of those darn imports, right?
Or is it because the companies got fat and complacent, the companies hid behind protectionism, the unions who couldn't care less about the company or the customer got fat and lazy?
Naw, must be the dang Chinese, Japanese Taiwanese, Koreans, Mexico, Canada, whatever.

Make a good, innovative product at a competitive price, people will buy it.
Make overpriced things, people won’t buy them.
What a concept…

you get what you pay for... simple concept right  cheap hf stuff only good for a couple of uses if it even works the first time. I bought a compression tester last week from HF and thought wow $30 killer deal guys at work warned me and I just ignored, well first time using it and the hoses are really hard to get into tight places so I ask a co worker to borrow a house off his mac set.

Well that hose was easier to work with check the compression on the car gives me 75psi I then assume the motor is bad and a co worker says lets double check with all the ones we have here, (snap on,mac) well the snap on and mac where both reading over 100psi.... So if I would of trusted hf I would of misdiagnosed it. Honestly I just threw away my money its uselss :( buy quality tools and only buy once for the rest of your life

You broke the cardinal rule of buying test equipment from HF and not checking it. Actually, that applies to ANY new test equipment.

As for the rest, it gets old Merk. You don't like HF, we know, you've repeatedly made your point. Not everybody can buy made in the US everything, and some people buy their tools to use, and need them NOW. Waiting and searching isn't an option. Their prices are inline with everything else.

Unless you find a US made extension cord with comparable specs for cheaper, I don't really get what point you can make here. If it's not worth it to you at that price, then go buy a US made one and move on...

No sir, you're assuming this is another one of my HF bashing threads; actually, I was considering buying an extension cord from HF, but I decided I'm not spending that kind of money on something made in China. What's the point in overpaying for something made in China? Does not compute. :headscrat

how is it overpaying when all the other extension cords are the same price? Did you even look at the post where I did the research for you and listed them?
Show me a us one that has the same specs and is in the same price range.

Like I said...

"you get what you pay for" is such a CROCK, and I don't want to hear about buying oats which you are not doing. Sale prices don't reduce quality, and paying double off the truck for rebranded items doesn't improve it.

I have the HF $9 compression tester which works fine for me. Maybe the fancy quick disconnect is the trouble?

Snapon seems a touch pricey.
Set, Compression Gauge Stock#: MT308M $199.99

This Milton actually looks pretty nice, and a brand I trust for gauges.
MILS1251 Milton Price: $39.99

BTW is accuracy that much of an issue with compression testers? The way I have always used them is to compare cylinder to cylinder.

Hey Merkava .. you do know that Harbor Freight is American owned .. right? Harbor Freight Tools is an American privately held company that runs a chain of discount tool retail stores.

You will be hard pressed to find a US made cord. I have a bunch of HF extension cords, never had a problem. Ever watch How It's Made. Alot of those clean, high tech factories are not here, they are in China and other countries. I hate it, but it is true. Once China gets rich, and the US gets poorer, they will be moving manufacturing over to our starving country,
