The 3/8" has functions well with my M18.

I break the 1/2" frequently with an AirCat 1200K. Always replaced with out any hassle. I haven't bought a better model because the unit cost gets lower and lower every time I replace it....

I have most of the designs listed here, Matco, snappy, sk and Sunex, grey pneumatic and hf. The pinless is where it's at, regular abuse on the impact will wear them out, but after a year or so. The same guys I see wearing them out are wearing out snappys too. The hf one does not impress me, but I rarely use it. The price was right for the couple times a year it gets used. I use the swivel socket sets more than anything. And a 1/2 to 3/8 adapter most of the time. My 1/2 inch swivels are shallow sk's and they work well too.

Agree with above, all brands will wear out, however I have noticed that my SK swivel sockets, and my Snap on ones last considerably longer than the adapters of any brand. A co worker here was stupid and broke his finger with a swivel, it was a industrial brand, cant recall, pin holding the socket broke and whack into his index, but he shouldn't have been trying to hold the socket in place while in use. rofl.

Until it breaks and hurts you. The amount of force in the 1/2" impacts shouldn't be taken lightly. You're playing the injury lottery for the sake of a few dollars. Just saying.

Good eye I didn't notice the pin retention those are a pita

I double checked the Part # just in case and it is indeed pinned.

I completely agree, I could see it being helpful if you're working in a missile silo or above water but a real PITA in the shop. My one IR impact had one and 99% of the time I kept a short extension, with a different retention, pinned on.

Thank you anyhow.

I had a set of 3/8 swivels I used daily from HF. The 5/8 broke in half at the pin and the socket smashed my face. I had the torch on the bolt already so the socket was nice and toasty. I had a fat lip for a week. I was so furious.

You're gambling high with a half inch. Even if you aren't going to use it much. When the time comes to break it out and if it fails, think of what'll be around you if it does. It's a few bucks more for a quality swivel socket (GP, SO ect) and will be much better. This is one of the few times I would recommend paying full price for something. Lives cannot be replaced! Money can.

That's my two cents.
