I never fell for this because you can go anywhere and get one of these for that price. It's never on sale for cheap either. If they went for $129 I'd get one.

I can get a used on for around $100 on CL. Used is fine there is nothing to wear out on them.

I've never been a big Harbor Freight guy, but to each his own. I know this is only a small scaffold, but I can't help but feel leery. It's one thing to pound on something with their cheap *** steel hammer, it's another thing to be suspended at heights (any height) with their cheap *** scaffold.

I've got 2 of them. The plywood needs replaced before I'd stand on it. Other than that I like them. Had them for about 5 years now, loaned them out to many buddies, they still work 100%. Buy them with the 20% coupon and you won't get to hurt. You can buy the HF one for what a weeks rental would run you. Keith

I was just talking about the HF scaffold the other day in this thread:
http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=152338
page 3 I think.
The original poster, Coolerman, has a picture posted in regards to his lights, but in the background is a scaffold unit from Northern Tools. Nearly identicle to the HF unit but regualr price on the Northern unit is $189.
I had just purchased the HF unit - was on "sale" for $199, then used 20% off coupon so price was a bit better but I was surprised to see the Northern unit selling for sucha good price. Also, the Northen unit offers a safty railing and additional outriggers for thier scaffold where as HF does not (I do wonder if they'd fit anyway).
I was on top of mine this past weekend, to check it out, it's not bad - there is some wiggle, but the unit is not bolted together it uses hitch pins for ease of disassembly. you could certainly bolt together if you worked at a specific hieght all the time.
The plywood platform could probably be thicker. No problems (cracks, creaks, groans) holding my 230lb **** in the air.
I don't have a Northern store near me, shipping I'm sure would be cost prohibitive.

Have one from Tractor Supply - same deal. Paid $149 new. It's was a great tool to have when building the shop. I need to get rid of it since I'm not using it any more. If you keep it a long time, just change out the plywood deck for something thicker. Other than that, it works just fine. Great work platform, can double as a mobile bench or **** collector.

My buddy has two of them, they rock for the money.

It don't matter where you buy these small scaffolds from, they are all made by the same manufacturer and then stamped with a name or painted a different color for each retailer.

Local charity purchased several of them a while ago, and they work fine! The only thing we did was to install pressure treated PW on the tops, as they spend so much time outside!!!

It's an immutable, universal law: All horizontal surfaces are by default, **** collectors.

That's why my work/craft table is 2 foldable saw horses and a piece of plywood. When I'm done, they have to be put away. Otherwise, it would be as stacked with **** as my other work benches.

can you stack multiples of these ...never looked in person

I don't believe these small rolling scaffolds are designed for stacking. I'm not a scaffold expert, but the rolling scaffold I have is more like a mobile height adjustable work platform.

Bought mine at TSC around Christmas $130. They were flying out the door. I like mine and yes, it can double as mobile tool cart. I slid two pieces of OSB across the horizontal cross members and I had a three tier shelf while I was/am finishing the inside of my shop. You can stack them but they require the outrigger supports. Mine, I think, was a "New Buffalo" brand.

Will HF allow you to stack the 20% coupon on the current sale price of $199? The fine print on the 20% coupon says can not be used with other discounts, etc.

These don't look to be a standard scaffold size. A few years back I bought 8 levels of standard scaffolding on eBay with a winning bid of about $225 as I recall. It was old, but scaffolding don't wear out. Had to make my own wood platform, but that's no big deal. Most Harbor Freight experiences have not been positive for me. Harbor Freight, like so many other "tool" warehouses, markets cheap and low quality junk tools from Communist China. I avoid Harbor Freight like the plague these days. Most of my current tools were/are purchased used from eBay, at flea markets, and at garage sales, all U.S. made.

also have one from Tractor Supply but they are all the same. Yes you can stack them but you should buy the out rigger wheel kit and safety bars. i don't know if hf sells these but tractor supply does.

On each cross bar I add a set of nuts and bolts to mine when I have it set two units high which really stiffens it up and stops the shakey, shakeys...

Sounds like people with them are pretty happy. That's good. I bought one last Christmas for when it's time to do my drywall up high. With coupon, I got mine for $150.

Did the TSC version on Black Friday a couple years ago for $150. I agree with all comments. Good unit for the money. Plywood is a little weak. It is "shaky" when at full height but adding bolts instead of just the quick release pins make it much easier. Holds 4 hoses or chords very well at each corner. I would definately buy it again.

Here is a pretty good comparison. Harbor Freight for $199 or Home Depot for $209 (regular price, but often goes on sale)

At first blush, they look really similar but take a closer look and some little things start to stand out. 200lb more capacity on the HD mode. It looks like the locks on the HD use two pins in the upper lock. HF only has one.

Home Depot also has a cheaper version for $179

For not much more you can get full size scaffolding that can be used outside. With a set of levelers you can use them next to a building with sloped ground. The full size scaffolding is very sturdy, I have looked at painters scaffolding for use inside a building with 8-10' sidewalls.
I got my three sets with two sets of wheels, three aluminum planks and one set of levelers for around $400 a few years ago at Scaffoldmart.com, here is another site that has a sale going on.

I believe that all of these are mfg. by the same folks. As said I own one and yes it gets shaky when full raised. And yes one would be better off buying used construction grade scaffolding with a ...?...6'x6' foot print. A lot moe stable and Many options offered. I know I should have! You can check out Craig'slist and such.

They're a bit narrow, you can't climb over the side, have to go over the ends to get on them, or use a step ladder, but they are worth the money. I bought mine for indoor work, I have cathedral ceilings. And I used it in my shop before I got the electric platform lift. Makes a nice adjustable height work table as well.
