I didn't measure when I was there - how wide are the wide drawers on the 56" cabinet? The website doesn't list width.

On the 45" cabinets, it lists the "full width" drawer as 36 3/4", and there's only one that width. If you got two of them and ganged them together, you'd have two wide drawers.

On the 56" cabinet, however, it's got an entire bank of wide drawers - I'm curious if they're narrower than the 45" full-width.

There is about two hundred guys on this forum that bought them and like them. If you have a NAPA auto parts nearby they carry a pretty nice box that's a little bit more but I think it's a much better box.

The napa box is a homak. The 41" one is red powdercoat w/ top and bottom going for $799, or that's what it was at the napa I went to. I've also seen the blue powdercoat w/ top and bottom.

I was in Harbor Freight and saw a new 52 (or 56?) inch box today. I was quite impressed with it. It looked like it had a decent set of slides in it, the finish is really nice and I've never seen a better deal on a box. I'm use to looking at my Macsimizer on a daily basis (all 96 inches of it) so it didn't look big. When I rolled around to see the 41 behind it it became clear it does have some size. If I can get a 20% off coupon from HF any time soon I'm going to buy one and sell my US General 31 nich set.

I have yet to see one of these bigger boxes in my store. They just have the smaller ones.

Just came from Harbor Freight ( needed a dead blow hammer ) They have the new 56" rollcab in stock. right now its not on sale. Its $799. With 20% off coupon it will be $640. Better than anything I've seen a Sears lately. I don't even mind drawer release latches. For the price I think this is a great box. I will be getting one soon.

Well after all my anguish i decided to buy a used snap on box and keep my $ in country i picked up a 54inch snap on kryl761apm bottom box for $800 a little less than the harbor freight box with tax included. Happy with my purchase till i see the id tag on the back of the box with taiwan patents?!?!? and no writing saying where this unit was made?
Any snap on dealers care to illuminate me?

Jabberwoki asked about the Taiwan patents on the SO box. I saw that on a local SO box for sale used(nice, almost new box) and asked SO dealer about it. He insisted the patent numbers meant the box was also patented in Taiwan but was made in the US, some factory in the midwest. This dealer seems to be a outstanding guy and a hard worker BTW. He's treated me great and I haven't made any big purchases and I'm not a professional mechanic.

i would assume the taiwan and other country patents that are on there are there to protect the snapon design and build style from being copied in those places and sold cheap

The 56" box is CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP looking. A bad Snap-on knock off. The finish is well, just not right. The corner trim looks like threshold from Home Depot. The metal feels thin and the drawers have more flex than the 41" box. The "Rock and row" knock off of the lock and roll seems to work very well except you can't grab the drawer say mid way and disengage it. The 41" box seems much better.

i went last night to check it out... ill be dammed if they didnt copy a snap on box right down the the shade of red, only thing different as someone said it the aluminum trim (which looks like it can be removed to change or paint if it reallt botheres u) but if it had a snappy name plate i would have thought it may be the real thing. feels solid n well built, nice then the 41" but honestly i have my 2 41's built in already and practiacally full... if i had the room to build in 2 of the 56's i deff would retunr/exchange

Uh-Oh, I'm sure the Snap-On posse is getting some rope as we speak. Prepare for a garage journal lynching.

And another bussiness man is born!!! I can just see these new Harbor Freight boxes showing up as all of the tool truck brand badged versions. These will probably be out there faster than all of those flex head gearwrench sets from Napa's sale last month.
