I'd gladly buy a HF box over a Snap On box any day.

The value is just unbeatable.

Yep.. Same can be said comparing a Ford Focus to a Ford Mustang. I dont know about you, But im glad as Consumers we have Choices. What works for You, Doesnt always work for someone else.. Although they both fill the same need.

Hope I don't get flamed for this but...

...I don't get the whole "buy American" thing. Is there something about a hungry American that's different from a hungry Chinese person? Like it or not, it's a well integrated global economy and as far as I can see, people the world over have the same needs, love their children, and just want to get by the best that they can.

The way I see it, buy a snap-on and feed somebody. Buy a HF and feed somebody...same thing and no different. Again, please don't flame -- just saying.

Why do you have to "get" anything? If you dont feel the need to buy American then Dont, Its YOUR money.

I have that big HF box. It replaced a WaterLoo that fell apart. I bought what I could afford at the time.

My only 2 complaints are.
1.The surface is very rough so it's impossible to keep clean.
2. The drawers won't stay closed when moving it around the shop.

Maybe someday I can afford a nicer one but for now it works fine.

Nothing Wrong with that.. I own a couple of the black carts and for what they cost they offer some good storage. I dont think i could deal with the 18" deep drawers, That would "Personally" Drive me crazy.

I couldnt justify buying a New Snap On boxes, Here is my Pride and Joy.

Recently bought the HF side box for $200 less 20% because the size fit exactly the space I had under the work bench...Is it tool truck quality? NO! Is it better than what you now get at Sears? HELL YES! Hard to find additional storage for the $.

Before you ask, the only Snap On tools inside are a multi-meter (along with a couple of Flukes), the rest of the space is filled with torches and tips, dremel stuff, bits, taps, dies, etc.

Why don't you just skip buying the SO box and spend the $5k paying a domestic mechanic. Add the $16k for the SO tools and I'm pretty sure you could pay to have every repair done for a lifetime. The reason American jobs are going over seas is unins, taxes and politics, not because people are buying Chinese products. Doing what you can with what you can get your hands on is THE American way!! I personally think the cheaper tools and the Internet are prompting more people to repair their own stuff.

 Agreed!

I just picked this up a little over 2 months ago for $600. http://www.harborfreight.com/hand-t...1-drawer-industrial-roller-cabinet-67681.html

It is much nicer quality than the flat red one several have posted here. It is sturdy as hell (and filled with MOSTLY american tools, sans a few HF cheapies here and there:shocking:)

To be honest, if it wasn't for the US General emblem, you would think it was a snap-on at first glance. I even lifted myself off the ground off of the open drawers on the store's display model

It rolls great even when loaded down with tools. (I actually work in the same plaza as the HF, so I just rolled it through the parking lot right into the shop haha!) My only complaint is that the plastic latches used as detents are a little annoying until you get used to reaching for them, and that the caps on the aluminum side rails didn't feel very secure until I RTV'd them im place.

Overall I am THOROUGHLY impressed with the build quality of this box. I use it daily as an auto tech and it seems to be holding up just fine.

If you don't mind the "hassle" of cleaning it up and possibly repainting it, you can find a lot of NICE older Snappy tool boxes on CL and elsewhere relatively cheap. That way, you get a good tool box, the Snap-On addicts are satisfied, and you kept your money right here.

A good, used Snap-On, MAC, Matco, Cornwell etc. box is the best way to go in my opinion. Getting a quality used box (or tool, for that matter) for a bargain price and cleaning it up is satisfying. I don't mind a few dents and scrapes.
