Yup, I would have bought that for $50 and "You ****!"

Everything is looking great, you have reminded me that I too need to build a landing and set of stairs, I am not so woodworky though. :(

Your friend's bronco is very, very nice, I am not a Ford guy, but that vintage Bronco as well as the 1970s crew cabs really make me smile. I can remember my Grandfather had one that we used to plow his driveway, I am pretty sure he sold it for a couple hundred dollars, it had the 302 as far as I remember.

Strouty thanks, it was a heck of a deal, bonus points for the storm door, it will fit the basement door.
I sat at my welding bench with a framing square and a soap stone, drawing and trying to remember how to lay out stair risers, it took a minute to bring it back to consciousness! Next time I'll go to Lowes and buy ready cut risers.

I saw this on another site, I would love to have one.

My neighbor Haley is going to open another pet grooming shop in one of there barns, she is going to embrace the farm vibe with the shop and asked me if I could help design and build her a wash station for dogs.

So after a little internet surfing we came up with this idea. I bent a piece of ¾" emt conduit to fit the opening and am in the process of welding it in. We'll touch up the galvanize with some cold galvanize spray. I'll pop a sink drain into the bottom for a drain.
I'm hoping to finish tomorrow!

I spent most of the day mowing, Josh's yard takes five hours and mine takes about one hour. I took an hour brake between them, then it took an hour to blow the dust off the mower and wash it.
I did work on the dog washing station for a bit.

I have to finish welding and grind the welds smooth, then spray it with cold galvanize.

Thanks B. & Jayman, I appreciate that!
Got the dog washing station finished today.
20230928_174921.jpg
I made a base for it when Haley told me she was going to have Colby build a 2x4 stand for it.
20230928_174926.jpg
I put a kitchen sink drain in it.
20230928_175448.jpg
I called Haley and told her it was ready to go.
Wrencher, I did have the exhaust fan on high and a box fan blowing across my bench, it was hard to mig weld in a wind tunnel!

No worries, I’m just a little paranoid about zinc poisoning.

Wrencher, no worries brother, I appreciate the concern,
I got chemical pneumonia once about 40 years ago stick welding galvanize pipe outside, I thought I was in a good air flow but I wasn't. My lungs were on fire for a week, spent some time in the ER, I usually only screw up big time once!

My chickens have almost always free ranged, and rarely have I shut the door at night, but that's all changed.
I sold 12 of my buffs to a friend of mine and he asked if I could keep them for a month until he got a coop built so I said no problem, the next night something got two hens! Now I have to open and close the door everyday. So!
20230929_111611.jpg
I bought this automatic chicken door!
It has a timer that can be set to open and close the door automatically, and it came with two remote controls.
20230929_134146.jpg
All of the doors I have looked at caution about getting wet in one way or another, so I built this recess box, It will set the door back six inches into the dry.
20230929_134113.jpg
I'm going to set it inside the coop and cut a hole in the wire, then add a frame around the edges.
20230929_134046.jpg
Just to be sure the chickens don't get confused there are green lights for go when the door is opening.
20230929_134106.jpg
And red to warn them to stop when the door is closing!
Can't be too safe you know!
I had to go to the store and buy batteries for the remote so I'll have to open the door in the morning but after that I can open and close it from my bed if I want.

I read the manual twice, there's nothing in there about how to train them, I guess one gets guillotined the rest will figure it out!
To quote Chic McGee from the Bob and Tom Show, "How do you train a chicken?
You beat 'em!"

Of course, this is only a comedy sketch.
No chickens were beat in the production of this post.

Bob and Tom. That's a name I haven't heard in a while. We used to listen to their show on the way to and at the construction sites when I lived in Indy. Q95 🤘

The chickens act like the door has been there forever, they pay it no attention!
I spent most of the day cleaning the shop, I made two runs to the dumpster! Sorted a bunch of my steel drops, I need to keep going on it.
I did do a little decorating.

We have kids in the neighborhood now so it's for them!

Kayla asked me to put some stones and crystals in her walking stick, she thinks that she is an Indian medicine woman!!!

This week is the 411 yard sale it is 309 miles of anything you can think of. Officially it runs from Thursday through Sunday on the first full weekend of October but the locals set up last week and they stretch it to about 12 days!

Pat and I have hit it a couple of times this week, I bought two sacks of Dickies pants and shorts for 30 bucks, that's at least a couple of years of work pants. a ½ gallon bucket of cocoa almonds for three bucks, an ax handle for my double bladed ax for twelve bucks, Pat bought an ice cream scoop for three bucks, an antique tricycle for ten bucks. I saw a 50 gallon compressor for 25 bucks, it needed a pressure switch! So I've been playing more than working but I did manage to fix Stan's dog box, it's bear hunting season in Tennessee so all of the hunters have sat on there broken equipment all year and just now realized that it needed fixing!
20231007_180114.jpg
Stan wanted to access his cooler without having to unstrap it, so I built this frame.
20231007_180106.jpg
Now he can get a cold one without having to unstrap the lid, we must have our priorities!!! I did spend several hours welding broken welds that he forgot to mention!
Tomorrow I'm going to repair a broken hall tree that I bought for Pat, it more closely matches the living room than the one she has now.

I started with the ax.
20231008_125648.jpg
I cleaned and sharpened the head.
20231008_142719.jpg
Had to do a little shaping to get a good fit.
20231008_142711.jpg
But it's done, the handle cost 12 dollars, similar axes were selling for 40 bucks.
Then I got to do a little work on the hall tree.
20231008_125654.jpg
It has a broke arm!
20231008_125706.jpgthe arm was in five pieces.
20231008_125701.jpg
The piece in the front is the upright, it had the square dowel broken off that fits into the slot in the armrest, the armrest had the screw hole torn out, I swear this thing looks like it was in a bad bar fight!

Shorty, It's going to be a nice piece when I get it done.
20231010_124424.jpg
I found this on the bottom, I tried to research it but there isn't even a Lea st. In cleveland anymore, the only reference to Lea st. I can find is that the pony express was on Lea st.
20231010_112727.jpg
It kind of fell apart, actually this makes it easier for me, we want a darker finish so it matches the living room set, there were about 10 broken or split boards so gluing was a lot easier this way!
