Yes, exactly. The different colors distorts the visual. Its an old fabricators trick.
Next I need to put the seat board on it and see if I can relocate the choke, I really don't like where it is and I don't want to move it and it land under the seat. If your going to reinvent the wheel you need to think three or four steps ahead of your next move.

Now that I have added the cardboard shift tower, I will not be using the shift pattern piece, it will be incorporated into the new piece. That hole and slot on the right corner is where the choke was located.

I want to try to move it next to the park brake, between the park brake and seat.

Its cold and raining, I went to the bil's and fixed the facia board as best as I could. I told him before we installed it that we needed to pop a chalk line and cut all of the tails to the same length. He didnt do it, him and his son just put the board up. I took my 30" crescent wrench over and straightened the tails and installed the rest of the screws. He hired a crew to install the 16 sheets of advantech flooring in the loft. They will be here at 9:00 tomorrow morning. Should be interesting!

This is why we do the fall car show. It gives us enough money to operate the lodge for another year, which allows us to make a good Christmas for some kids. I spoke to Amanda about this, she said most donors specify that there money go to children, so that leaves the teens out, just when they really need to be validated. So we give our money with no conditions, I asked if this covered everyone, she said she thought it would but there are still two families in jeopardy, (its all politics), I told her if they didnt get covered, let me know and I would make it happen. No kid left behind on my watch. If we can't take care of them now, and show them that the system works for all, how can we expect them to be upstanding adults and respect the system.
Watch out y'all, Ill be passing the hat, I ain't proud!
There used to be a mall that would have a "Spirit of Giving Tree". We'd always pick older kids and/or seniors figuring the bulk of folks would go for the little ones. Always a good feeling.

Kirk, I did a little and came home knowing it wasn't over. I went back today.
Rharman, I always thought kids were kids to 18, at that age they become responsible adults, well! Supposed to be anyway. I treat them all like kids and include them as such, they need that.
I went back to the bil's today, Sergio was there at 9:00 to put the advantech in the loft.
20251201_130749.jpg
It took them 1½ hours and they were done. I asked him to not nail to the facia board, I backed out the screws from the splice to the end and tapped the facia out to flush with the flooring and then nailed it and ran the screws back in.
20251201_140051.jpg
The bil couldn't decide on stair location or size, until they were done.
20251201_140054.jpg
So now we know where the stairs are going. I made sure the decision was final.
20251201_130741.jpg
He also decided to install an 8x10 roll up door, after we had framed for a 10x10 door.
20251201_125023.jpg
So I was the saw man while he lowered it 2'. He got lucky, he was able to do most of it standing in the bed of his truck. I ran some wire for lights in the loft and added a switch box. More fun to follow!!!

Kay, I have thought about it so many times, but there is so much other **** attached to this car, its almost gone.

Kirk, I know that when the bil's shop is secure the car will leave. At this point with the holidays and the trikes, Ill be happy if its gone by springtime.
I wanted it out before cold weather so I could get heat and lights in that bay and start putting my wood shop together. Its been in there for years, a few more months aint going to matter much!

The bil wants vertical white metal on the other three sides.
Going to go to Georgia tomorrow and try to buy some hardwood flooring, Pat has wanted to get rid of the carpet since we installed it.

We were up against the end of the construction loan and they wouldn't convert the loan until the house was 100% finished! Had to patch aluminum siding in also! I had to take the siding off the back porch and install t-111 siding in there to have matching aluminum to fix around the new, smaller windows! It was a bit of a rough launch!

Update on flooring! We went back to Georgia yesterday and bought the flooring there, they had the same product but cheaper, closer, and friendlier! Plus Pat found the bathroom flooring while we were there! Bonus!

I got out in the shop for a couple of hours today.

I cut a pattern for the battery box cover, then decided to enlarge it.
20251212_150734.jpg
I started with this basic shape, then forgot to take pictures of the modifications I made! I did cut it into two pieces and work each one separately.
20251212_170347.jpg
20251212_170404.jpg
Then I welded them back together.
20251212_170413.jpg
I welded nuts to the inside.
20251212_170739.jpg
Then I welded mounting tabs to the existing bracket.
20251212_170743.jpg
It looks like a factory piece.
20251212_170747.jpg
I added two inches to the length when I started, it runs even with the bottom of the frame like it should.

This is how the factory did it!
Very utilitarian looking.

I put some drumsticks on the smoker while I was at the shop, Pat is making baked beans and tater salad! Im pooped, the steroids make you feel better but you run out of energy quick!
Knox and Junior are coming over tomorrow, were going to wrap up his truck for the year, and he will haul it back to his place for the winter.
Maybe Ill remember to take pics of what we don't to it!

Well! The box is 14ga. I have a full sheet in the fab shop, so its easy access!
20231226_154323.jpg
I bought this set of dies from Ebay and they fit in my 20 ton frame press, I can do up to short 10ga. pieces with it. And there are two 35 ton hydraulic presses in the trike shop for the heavy stuff.
Knox's truck! Today we pulled the box, and I cut the shackles 3/4", it sat to low in the rear.
We pulled a bunch of extra add on wiring out of it, and we found the problem with the turn signals,
I finished the seat brackets, we put 2003 seats in it,
We remounted the box with new hardware.
We drained the cooling system because it was water and they say its going to freeze tomorrow night! I know it takes more than that but it needs to be empty.

He is going to take it home in a week or so for winter storage, they are going to paint the interior and trim, clean and paint the floor and install insulation matt, and carpet, there going to order ball joints and front suspension parts, we'll rebuild the steering in the spring, and paint it white also. The headliner is still at the quilt shop, they promised it bt Thanksgiving but no Bueno!

Then we ate a bag of chicken legs for a snack! It was 2:00, it was time!
Their is a bag full still in the fridge, come get them!
They were smoked with **** Rubb and fruit wood pellets, yep there gooood!
Food City has a five for 20 dollars meat special, you can get five, five lb. Bags of legs for 20 bucks!
That smoker was only two bags, and they were the biggest legs ever!

71 years old and can tote a box of hardwood siding better than most men, the 33 year old nephew and 40 year old granddaughter had to tag teamed the boxes, they couldn't handle it!

Had a casualty about a mile from the house! I had inspected them and aired them up before we left, the tread on that one was getting thin, I told myself that it was time for tires, guess thats a no brainer now. The rim is fine, Ill pull them, sandblast and powdercoat them before the new tires.
