Love the red cabinets. I went with red, because at the time it was the most common garage color back when. Now I think it looks kinda retro. Now I just like it. Also love those cardboard storage bins. I use those a lot. Surprisingly rugged, and easy to recycle. I use hot glue on the tabs.

I started with the red and bronze because I was going to redo my Dad's Remline toolbox, and I was going to do another cabinet to match it. I started on everything else and still haven't done the toolbox yet. I bought about 100 of those cardboard boxes from e-bay, they were really cheap price.

I hauled off another load today! Pat added the house trash in also! I moved some things around, Im starting to see some floor.
20251202_125511.jpg
I didnt like the controls that came in the Mule, so I ordered a switch panel.
20251229_121024.jpg
I decided where I wanted to put it.
20251229_123916.jpg
I traced the template onto the dash and cut it out.

I did that several years ago, I got tired of tripping on stuff. I loaded a trailer loaded of **** and went to the
hwy 411 yard sale, the bil's girlfriend got mad because I was selling things to cheap, I told her it was going to the scrap yard if it didnt sell, so whatever I made was profit! I sold around $7000 dollars worth of ****. We'll, most of it was ****, I did sell a pistol.

Spent the day with the bil, we put up about 10 sheets of osb. Lots of cuts and backing had to be done.
Were going to hit it again tomorrow, and hopfully we will finish the tall bay, except for the cieling. Were hoping we can get the scissors lift back for that.
20260103_113511.jpg
I got the new headlights for the Mule yesterday, they look much better.
20260103_115223.jpg
I bought these in anticipation of painting my car hauler, I need to replace all of the cheap broken lights and thought these would be easier to work with.
20260103_115236.jpg
But Im going to use one of them in the dash of the Mule as an idiot light for the park brake.

The Yerf Dog, has a live axle, when Im working in the yard it digs my grass out even on medium turns. We live on a chert mound so there is only an inch or two of top soil at best. The Mule has an open rear end with a diff lock so Im hoping that the Mule runs out ok, then Ill sell the Yerf Dog. The company folded in 2005 so parts are non existent, so everything has to be hand made. Basically just an upgrade.

Worked on the bil's shop again today.
20260104_120922.jpg
Finished the last two sheets on the side wall.
20260104_120930.jpg
Then we moved to the front wall.
20260104_153154.jpg
There is a ton of blocking that had to be added to the trusses to flush them out to match the walls.
Then we added a nailer for the cieling, he is thinking about using roofing metal. 20260104_120940.jpg
The stairs will go here.
20260104_171628.jpg

got the over hang done, we'll finish that piece of wall tomorrow.

20260104_121011.jpg
This room will be the trophy shop, we are going to try to get the cieling done in here tomorrow.

Well, We both petered out today!
We got everything finished in the big room, and we got 3/4th of the insulation finished in the trophy shop cieling. Both of us threw our backs out, and spent more time sitting than we did working. Just too many trips up and down the ladder.
20260104_171623.jpg
9ft. Cieling are nice until you have to fill in that little gap up top! Lol.

Getting old aint for sissies. The bone Doc ask me what I was doing, I told him I was doing some light movement like he told me to do. He said moving empty book cases was not considered light movement.
How old is the Doc? My old man will be 86 in a few months. Still over does it. I'm trying to learn from him. Trying to stay active. Need to stretch more. "Hey Doc, be thankful it was only a bookcase, and not a SBC."

When I had a knee replacement, after several weeks of physical therapy, doctor released me to drive ...
nobody told me I couldn't drive, none of the paperwork said I couldn't drive, I'm an old farm boy and I've been driving multi pedal vehicles/equipment for 60+ years

Didn't bother telling him I've been driving since my second therapy session :D

Thats how we roll, If they don't tell you don't ask.
When they welded four vertebrae in my neck, the Doc knew me well enough to tell me that while I was wearing a neck brace that my car insurance was no good. Pat drove me to work for six weeks.
Im feeling better today, we have to go to wally world and pickup our new glasses this morning, may go hang the rest of the osb later.

I listened to the doctors on my shoulder and foot surgeries (they were done a week apart). NEVER AGAIN! I'm not going to go out there and run a marathon or try to deadlift 700lbs, but I'm going to get back into it a lot quicker (next day).

I copied this from page two of this thread. It describes the surgery I had that year, I was ready to chash it in. Also, I rode around in the car with Pat all day, we didnt even see any osb today!

: Building my dream shop

But you see Pat has OCD and has it bad. part of ocd is balance of proportion and things have to be equal to her sight. So after pulling in the driveway for about two months she said something had to be done about the imbalance of the shop (see where this is going).

Shortley after the shop was built Pat and I had an accident. We left the house with our 95 Tahoe (aka Flakey)and a trailer load of bricks headed to the dump about a mile down the road the tongue latch on the trailer broke and released the trailer from the hitch but the safety chains held. This caused the trailer to jerk and the bricks shifted and fell over. Long story short we spun several times and landed in a ditch wheels up. I fractured several vertebrae in my neck didn't bother me for a year or so but eventually had to have 4 vertebrae fused and the 5th is in limbo. so that was March and in September I had both knees replaced then in December I was diagnosed with scoliosis of the spine and the 3 lowest vertebrae were out of alignment and needed surgery. We elected to not have surgery as I was half dead from the first two. This effectively took me out of circulation for about 2 years. So in order to keep the shop build going Pat and her brother built the second addition.so now the shop is 54'x 36'

Yep, I only post that to say don't give up! If I had done what the doctors had told me I would be sitting in a rocking chair on the porch, probably drooling by now. I still am not ready to slow down, and pray I don't have too.
Anyway, I went to the world of wheels today, Jeff and the bil went also.
20221201_085841.jpg
Dude, the bil and Sonney Mclaine are big buddies, Sonney owns the world of wheels franchise. Him and Dude have been buddies for nearly 40 years.
(This pic I took last year.)

Then this afternoon me and the bil hung some more osb.
20260109_150827.jpg
We started on the cieling.
20260109_150831.jpg
Had to stop, he ran out of insulation,
20260109_150841.jpg
I had him bring in two more sheets, I cut the holes for the outlets and hung them on the wall while he went to HD and got a couple of rolls of insulation. We knocked off at 5:00 and six of us went to The Farmhouse restaurant for supper. Were going to work in his shop again tomorrow.

Started on the house yesterday.
20260113_125434.jpg
I had some minor drywall prep to do, plus some water stains, we had a leak a couple years ago, when Helen hit the Carolinas we had some bad driving rains and it found its way in.
I have found that gloss white rustoleum spray paint is the best thing to use on water stains, I have tried kiltz and zinger and they ****.

The second coat hasn't dried down yet.
Going to need to get the carpet out next.

I've had HORRIBLE luck with Zinser. Primer coat on all 3 outbuildings using Zinser around 5 years ago. They are all flaking paint off down to the bare board. Next summer I might be able to get around to repainting EVERYTHING! ARRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Interesting, I wonder if something was different about the product or application? I have used Zinser Cover Stain as a primer for everything for at least 20 years and have had no issues. It has even lasted 20 years on fiber cement siding without repainting - and I learned afterwards that you are not supposed to use oil based primers on fiber cement.

Pat and I worked for Bachman academy for about 10 years, it was a boarding school. One of us, usually its was Pat was painting 90% of the time. Old buildings leaked and kids were careless so there were water marks everywhere, we tried everything to cover them, Kiltz used to work until they reformulated it. We tried a lot of different things, one day I had a can of Rustoleum doing a pipe or something and I just sprayed a water stain and said there that will fix it. Pat said now Ill have to paint that again, but it covered well. So we just started spraying all of the water stains with gloss white rustoleum and it worked.

A lot of life is getting in the way of this project, Pat had two teeth extracted yesterday and it slowed her down, I let her have the afternoon off!
20260115_093601.jpg
The cieling dried down perfectly, that is pva primer, it was a trick a painter taught me many years ago, it is the perfect paint for a cieling. The water marks are completely gone.
20260115_093604.jpg
I got the carpet out, Dude and Jeff came over and helped me haul it to the cabin. Pats Daughter Trish wants it for her step Daughter's mobile home. She has three country boys and they are rough on things so they get new used carpet for there bedroom. Its the southern way.
I got most of the tack strips up before my back said stop, Ill get them finished and get the pad out today and start the trim paint.
I know Im slow and making a long project out of a weekend redo but right now thats all I got!
