Riv, I would like to buy one, if a deal came up I would but there are hundreds of portable saw mills around me that will saw for a 50/50 split, I mentioned the trees once on marketplace and had about 20 people hit me. I'm getting afraid of some of these trees, they are getting too tall.
Kirk, the battery was dead and I wasnt feeling up to the task anyway. Pat wants to just clear coat the wood, I haven't picked a product yet but I would like a matt finish, anyone got a sugestion!

Pat and I help out at a local pet shelter, The Arc of Cleveland, in case anyone wants to donate or support, 😉. We spent the day there today installing hand rail that I made last winter.

Some of you may remember that we rebuilt the front porch earlier this year, thanks to Lowes for donating all of the materials.
We were going to replace tha siding on the front porch with white vertical siding but Pioneer backed out on supporting us so we are looking for a new vendor to help with that. They will also get my business from here on also.

The old house is way over 100 years old and needs lots of love but it's a cool place and the volunteers that run it are great people. We are going to have a bon fire and a cook out at our house with them a couple of weeks from now.

The railing looks really nice. I think it's probably a good thing the vertical siding thing fell through. There are a coup-le of houses around here with it, and it looks weird to me.

Your right about the vertical siding looking strange on an older house, I wouldn't want to do that either.
We were looking at just doing the front porch area with something, the siding is damaged and needs to be fixed but we cant match the color or style that is there so we asked for some help and that is what was offered.
It would be nice if we could just reside the entire house, I walked around it yesterday and it is getting bad in several places and the squirrels are working on getting back into the attic.

I had to go get pallets today, so that ment that I had to shovel sand off of the trailer and it went into the chicken coop. Got the pallets and my rebar that I had delivered to Jay's shop. Went back to the bil's house and helped him hang two more sheets of drywall, I also had to deliver a check to the boys and girls club in Polk co. our lodge supports them, especially at christmas time.

Been busy, way too busy.
Bought a 1950s fridge, had to get all Guido on a guy over a truck, fixed a table for bil, cleaned up a bunch of tools, threw away a truck load of trash, started taking apart my newest load of pallets, and had a lodge meeting. Hopefully tomorrow will slow down a bit.

I did get a good size non refundable deposit.
I don't know how I let these guys find me!

Haggling is a lost art nowadays Bob, people use to be polite and tactful, now they are just rude and most are clueless about life.
I just got a call from the bil of the truck buyer, he said he was going to the bank at 9:00 in the morning and would be headed my way, said about 1:30 my time,

I just learned that if they are nice, I am nice; and if there are rude, I am an ***. They usually get the message pretty fast.

I have been letting things get a little messy around here this summer so for the last two days I have been cleaning. I started off by taking the propane tanks off of the trailer and attempting to get them filled, after going to three different propane facilities I still hadent got them filled. I took them to Donnie, he will get them filled in Ooltewah tomorrow when he makes his rounds. So then I got busy hauling the mess.

Went from this
20211117_173043.jpg
To this,
There were several (projects) left here by my bil they got loaded in the lawn trailer and hauled to his house. My sil brought me a load of wild cherry wood for smoking, I hauled it in and stacked it on a shelving unit in the shop to keep it dry. I picked up a truck load of brush, limbs, and other wood and burnables and stacked them by the fire pit, we will have a couple of fires next weekend.

I took the pallet lumber to the chicken condo and finished two walls.
20211117_171910.jpg
Got the back wall done and built a new roost pole across it, it will be out of the wind back there.
20211117_161240.jpg
Had a good day. Tomorrow I will start on the back porch, it will be the dining room for Thanksgiving!

HJ, I really like the look of the pallet wood in the coop. I think you have better quality pallets than I’ve seen around here.

I guess I made a believer out of him. I reposted it for sale and he got busy.

I found this stool in the attic of my house, it's been sitting around here for years. It suddenly dawned on me that it may have belonged to one of Donnies wife's relatives, the house used to be her grandparents house.

I asked Donnie and it did belong to her grandfather, so he tried to buy it back. Told him I would get back to him.

I'm thinking it might be quicker to take it all the way apart and run it on the lathe to clean and sand everything round. I'm hoping the flat stuff will go through the surface planer.
I went to Reliance lodge tonight for a degree, the food down there is always fantastic, I'm stuffed,
There is a degree tomorrow night at limestone in Birchwood they usually have live bluegrass music with the meal.

That stool is very cool and I’m sure you’ll do it right. At first I was thinking why bother with that old stool, then I saw those awesome ball and claw feet. Yeah, that’s worth it. I’ve never seen those on a stool before or in metal either. :pimpflash

All is good even the wood Shorty.

I got a little done today.
20211119_150642.jpg
I finished cleaning the feet and clear coated them.
20211119_134544.jpg
I got the base off of the legs.
20211119_150652.jpg
All of the flat pieces have a beveled edge so clamping them is not easy. I had to use a piece of osb to clamp it flat.
20211119_150723.jpg
I decided to use the lathe to clean up all of the turned pieces, that's going to take a while.
20211119_154655.jpg
Hopefully I can spend some time on it tomorrow.

Jim, saving a piece of family history is a wonderful thing. Even better when it is a unique piece. I assume you are going to be gentle and preserve a little of the stool's patina.

Bob, I'm not sure how many years that stool was in the attic but long enough to dissolve all of the glue and turn the finish to powder. It will have a bit of patina but not a lot was left.
I helped the bil in his house today so I didnt get to work at my place.

Back to the basement today, everyone left me alone today and Pat had to go pick up Kayla so I finally made some progress.
20211121_174735.jpg
Wrapping the hood vent took a bit of head scratching to get the front curve correct.
20211121_174732.jpgthen I finished the cieling in the alcove,
20211121_174742.jpg
The next row of wood will get the first row of lights.
I insulated the boxed ends of the floor joists and the rim box to help keep the warm in!
We think that we are going to coat the cieling with boiled linseed oil when we are done.
