Bob as usual you are right on the mark. I turned 65 today. In 1958 May 11th was on Mother's Day, Mom always said I was her best gift.
Jim, my mother passed away on your 50th birthday (also Mother's Day). That even was balanced yesterday with the birth of our fourth great grandchild.
Pat took my truck to Jimmy's muffler shop in Dayton this morning and had the flowmasters taken off and stock mufflers put back on it, She told Jimmy I was finally growing up, he laughed!
Now you're making me feel young. The Cadillac has Corsa mufflers, the PT Cruiser has a Borla system, the '87 Corvette has rusted out Monza mufflers and the '72 Corvette has a hacked up Magnaflow system. What are these 'stock' mufflers of which you speak? :dunno:

Thanks Kirk, now if I can get them to use it.

I spent the day working on my Scout,
It didn't have anything on the column under the steering wheel, I don't know why but it bothered me that it looked like something was missing.

So I bought a universal mounting kit from Grants, it had several hub adaptors and column bells, so I put the big one under the wheel and the middle size got welded to this piece of pipe, I also drilled a hole and welded a nut over the hole.

Everything got a coat of paint and installed. I also made an assembly to allow the column to tilt and lock in any position, tilt wheel!

There were no fuses in this thing, since I went from 3 watts to 25 watts on the stator and put a full size battery in it I decided to install a fuse block.

After making a templet, I marked it onto the firewall and drilled the corners.
20230516_184604.jpg
I cut out the hole and filed the edges until it fit, then I made a bracket to hold it in place.

On the other side I wired in headlights, fog lights, and a winch and remote control box.
I need to move that blue wire off of the block and put it to a fuse.

This little scout never came with any electrical components other than headlights, and a 12v power port, but it had the winch receiver on the front! It will all work safely now. Tomorrow I'll take it all back off and start painting.
It may be overkill but I'm having fun with it.

Busy day today, I had to go across town to pick up 60 lbs of Vidalia onions🌰,
then my dash came back from the metal shop, I had them brake it at 32° and put a ½" lip on the bottom. 20230517_120643.jpg
The original dash was messed up so I made a
cover for it.

Plus I upgraded some switches and eliminated some other items. It and the brush guard are at the powder coat shop, hoping to get them back tomorrow.

I got the chassis, and the hood painted today also, so I can start final assembly in the morning.

Well, I chose to leave the bumper as is, it matches the wheels.

I had to go to town and buy 5 gallons of utility thinner for cleaning paint guns and such, so I got a quart of smoke gray, I repainted the fenders and will paint the roll bar gray, the other aluminum looked like fake chrome, I think this works
I think it looks OK, what do y'all think!

They got my brush guard and dash cover powder coated with a textured satin black, they came out great.

The dash is done and everything is wired and working.

This is the first pic I took when I brought it home, I'm trying to decide if the box stays red or should I paint it satin black.
I'm going to paint the box tomorrow, I looked at the roll bar and I'm going to take it to sandblast Monday and have it blasted, There is rust in the corners and around the brackets, let the boys clean it up.
