Kirk, I played hookie for three days, took Pat to Long Horn steak house on friday for a much needed date, I spent Saturday running with Dude, we went to limestone lodge for a chili lunch then hit an auction, where I once again could keep my mouth shut.
20241116_160717.jpg
Bought myself a pocket toy!
Then today the Family went to Western Sizzling for a birthday party!
Tomorrow I need to get back on the cabin, the boys are going to PC the frame Monday. Then Tuesday we should be able to finish Roy's trike.

That finned aluminum box on the front is all of the controls, the blue behind it is the battery. That makes for a neat, tidy set up.
Roy will keep his phone and keys in the tank, along with a stack of my business cards.

We can do that, we made a loop that goes through the handle and slips down on this shaft, it works great. We did a red wagon with sideboard to pull behind one but the wagon kept being left at home, Donnie finally told me he didn't like how long the setup was, We talked about it and came to the conclusion that a lot of other folks did like it so hopefully it will start showing up again. Were also working on a bogie axle with a gooseneck that will allow a passenger to ride, we've had so many people want a two person trike.

@harley jim

This may already be addressed and if so I apologize.

What's the top speed roughly on those bad boys and what's the distance from the seat to the pegs, or is there an option for "running boards" to have a full foot pad.

I only ask to kind of get an idea of roughly how tall you need to be to ride them. I don't know why but feel like my son and I need them, maybe with a mud tire though 🤣

I don't know what the distance from the seat to the pegs is but I will measure one and get back to you.
20240524_134853 (1).jpg
Well it's totally up to you how fast it runs.
In stock trim set up the way we spec it they run 30mph. We put a 60 tooth sprocket on them to slow them down to 30mph.
20240822_093630.jpg
This one was kind of my favorite. It's a HEMI ! I would only get the hemi if you were going to go full on race motor, it's the same basic motor as the non hemi but parts like the electric start are twice the price.
20240822_120119.jpg
I built a header so that it would make some noise, the header added 9mph to it, so it runs 39mph. If you were to remove the stock air cleaner and carb.
Screenshot_20241119_225716_Chrome.jpg
And install the 22mm Mikuni style carb, I have been told you could get another 8mph.
There are so many options for the preadator 212 that we use, and so many other motor options that could be used it's really hard to say what a person could ultimately get out of it.
IMG_20240915_082253.jpg
If your up to welding your own kit, this kit ships ups or fed ex and you can place the seat post and foot pegs to accommodate a small or large person, so it's totally adjustable.
20241115_123737.jpg
We just finished this one for a customer, he wanted foot boards so we got a set of Harley rear passenger adjustable boards and we cut the pegs off short and bolted them to the stubs. They will clock back and forward as they are on cogs and they will slide forward and backwards on the slides cut into the cogs.

I have been hiding out, not doing anything trike related. Sorry BoostingAZ. I haven't even got your measurements yet!

20241125_170709.jpg
I have been playing with stain samples, trying to blend in the front of the cabin. I need something with some red in it like red mahogany to blend the stripes, then The blob in the middle is a transparent barn/fence stain sample that will work once I fade the stripes with some. Hoping to do some more tomorrow.
20241125_170740.jpg
I got some spray foam to get into the corners and there are a couple of voids that I don't want to just stuff.
20241125_170658.jpg
The new porch light, it's an old factory light that I took out of a building about 40 years ago, I have about a dozen of them that I have been using around here.
20221201_085448 (1).jpg
I put three on my shop a couple years ago.
It got a satin black paint job and a smart bulb so I can control it from anywhere.
20241125_170644.jpg
It's set to a soft white so that it lights up the cabin porch with a golden glow like an old incandescent buld would.
20241125_170754.jpg
I got half of the loft elevated another 2x4 in height that gives me about 75" ceiling height in the bedroom and bathroom.
I'm jumping back and forth from inside to outside, I just can't settle into a rythem yet!

I have been playing human pinball, bouncing from one job to another, my new neighbor finally got moved in permanently, so we have been making the rounds, he is a body man and I took him around to visit some of my friends, he now has 11 vehicles to restore. The first one will be a square body chevy truck, it will be a frame off with an LS motor. No going to work for the man allowed around here.
Screenshot_20240308_155329_Messages (1).jpg
This is his Cougar.
Had to deliver a couple of trike frames, then The dreaded Christmas shopping!
Finally I got back to the cabin today.
20241125_170754.jpg
There is a loft on both ends of the cabin. I don't want the one that is above what will be the living room.
20241205_131438.jpg
So I built some rails, I cut the loft loose and slid it down to the bedroom/bathroom area where I needed it.
20241205_131421.jpg
Now the living room will be fully vaulted and my bathroom has a ceiling.
20241205_131406.jpg
There will be a short hallway beside the bathroom, this will be to access the bedroom and a place for the loft ladder.

Started adding all of the blocking and filling in the gap in the floor.
20241206_143956.jpg
Each loft piece was 92" long, I added 18" in the middle to make up the length I needed.
20241206_144000.jpg
Once the blocking is done, we'll start the insulation.
We sorted and donated a bunch of the furniture that was in the cabin to a needy family, Pat also gave them our living room suit that was in the storage shed, so today I'm going to move furniture to the storage shed so I have room to move around and also get the wood stove installed.

Worked in the cabin again today.
20241208_140716.jpg
It was about 60° so I kicked the door open and got some fresh air in there.
20241208_170426.jpg
We played around with the bathroom layout and decided to put the tub here. So I added all of the blocking around it, we now have the plates on the floor and ceiling and all of the corner studs in place. I didn't want to build full walls and have to move them, if you have a wife you know!
20241208_140731.jpg
It's much easier to move around with the furniture gone. I can work around those couple of pieces!

I have been looking for doors for the cabin on marketplace, those guys are out of there mind, they average 200 dollars per door! So Yesterday Pat and I went door shopping, we found two at an antique shop in town, we also found some fancy glass door knobs and some trim plates, all totaled $116 dollars.
It was warm today so my neighbor wanted to move some of his heavy equipment to a storage shed, I got the tractor and we got it all moved, then it started to rain so I hauled **** back to the tractor shed. Then I went to my shop and started cleaning. I bought a bolt bin at a yard sale several months ago.
20241210_153952.jpg
It looks rougher than it is, but anyway I gave $10 bucks for it,
20241210_153957.jpg
today I cut the bottom straight and added some z-track to the cut,
20241210_163955 (1).jpg
then a quick wire wheeling to knock the rust and stickers off.
20241210_163955.jpg
Pat bought two cans of hammered rustoleum and didn't like it on her project so it got sent to the shop, I think it looks great on my bolt bin.
I cleaned up some more tools and stuff trying to clear my welding table for the doors.
20241210_182015.jpg
I stripped the hardware from one of the doors and started cleaning the it.
20241210_191832.jpg
I tried to disassemble the door thinking that I would just run the pieces through the surface planer but no Bueno! So it will be a ********! The latex paint never sticks to the oil base paint so the first 10 coats just pop off, only one coat of oil base so 60 grit on it is working OK, the original varnish is balling up so I'll have to play with it, maybe I'll just go straight to the paint and everything with stripper and wrap it in plastic! Tomorrow's another day.

Bob, I found my answer!
Jayman, I was supposed to be stripping the cabin doors but that hammer kept talking to me, just couldn't get away!!! Lol

A long time ago when I would go out to my shop I liked to do a warm up project, just to get loosened up for the day, kind of like an athlete stretching before a major event!
(What did this guy smoke today)
Anyway I been staring at that hammer for about six months trying to decide what it's use was. I kept trying to make it a body hammer!
I fixed it and it didn't look like a body hammer any more.
Bob hit it on the head as did some other folks on another site. So I sent the pics to a Brother Mason in my lodge who just happens to be a stone Masons, yep it's an early masons hammer for splitting stone and bricks, the point is for fine tuning your split, altho he said my tip wasn't correct! Go figure!
I get a lot of satisfaction out of fixing old tools. There is actually a challenge thread here on GJ where you can accept the challenge to restore a tool offered up by other members.
received_821006719128793.jpeg
Some of you may remember this! Don Long sent it to me as my challenge.
received_821184122429108.jpeg
It came out ok.
received_450638483667959.jpeg
I had to make all of the missing parts.
received_2443711339115114.jpeg
Its just like building a hot rod to me.
I went to Lowes today and got some paint stripper for the doors, Jayman I'll get back to work tomorrow!

PC is 100 WSW of Tallahassee. If you came down 75, probably went by, came down the AL-GA line, about 70 miles west.
I will look up the spring show and Ed and I ride over. Ed’s been messing with e-bikes and built a trike several years ago.

Mar. 6-8 is on the calendar.

We came through Alabama, Donnie drove,He said he was not going through Atlanta traffic. I know we stopped in Rome GA. And bought an inverter. I was on the computer not paying attention to the route numbers. I think the spring date is March 5th or 6th. I hope you guys can make it, it's been a while.

I'm playing in the shop again today trying to get some of these small projects done, and there is a pile of them.
20241220_134117.jpg
This brake/press job has been laying here for almost a year.
20241220_132406.jpg
I bought the dies just before we started building trikes so everything here basically stopped.
20241220_154749.jpg
I found this piece of ½" plate and cut out some pieces, a little drilling, some tapping, then I turned the knob on top and plug welded it into the tool holder.

20241220_172739.jpg
20241220_172732.jpg
I put some set screws in to hold the die in place.
20241220_172952.jpg
20241220_172959.jpg
I set them in a 20 ton H press frame I had.

I had to try it out so I made a match stick holder.
20241220_180027.jpg
Cut a piece of duct metal I had laying here.
20241220_184534.jpg20241220_184557.jpg
20241220_184623.jpg
It works really nice, it's powered by a 20 ton air assist bottle jack, I wasn't about to hand pump this thing.
20241221_160650.jpg
I put the air jack in it last year but only got the wood splitting attachment done before the trikes consumed me.
20241221_160538.jpg
Some of my logs wouldn't fit in the wood heater so I just put them in the press and split them. I've used it a couple of times.
20241221_153846.jpg
Now I'm gluing up a shelf board. I need 12'8" but the board was only 12' and had a split in one end, so I cut some off and glued a 35" piece on the end. I jumping around but I'm tired of tripping over the boards and the die parts laying on the table. Instead of moving them I'll just finish that job!

Got the shelf finished today.
20241222_160211.jpg
The other wood in the basement is old oak so it has a lot of black streaks,
So I burnt a piece of wood to help color the shelf.
20241222_160633.jpg
I just rub the stick on the shelf, when I sand it the black only stays in the soft grain.
20241222_160529.jpg
The edge got most of the attention.
20241222_162622.jpg
20241222_162652.jpg
Got the shelf done, so I started cleaning the shop and moving things around, I need to have one open stall just in case I need to work on something.
20241222_144335.jpg
I moved the mower to the shed, I hope I'm done mowing for a month or so!

Spent the day yesterday cleaning, I built a temporary wall rack to help get all of my wood organized, started a scrap pile, rearranged the stall where the wood shop will eventually be.
20241227_173223.jpg
Mounted the new air hose Pat got me for Christmas!
Screenshot_20241227_200742_Chrome.jpg
Took this grinder apart to replace the start capacitor!
20241227_144903.jpg
And instead, found this, centerfugal start switch. The sleeve was cracked and wouldn't tighten, so I bound it with safety wire and pinned it for now. I actually found the exact switch on Amazon last night for 11 dollars, so it's on order.
20241226_173530.jpg
Got this several years ago, I've been looking for the correct guards but no Bueno so!
20241226_174230.jpgI found another set at an estate sale, they had to be drilled to fit.
20241226_181648.jpg
Then I had to make some spacers.
20241226_192757.jpg
It all works as it should so I'm going to give it a paint job, it will get a fine stone on the left side for sharpening bits and chisels, and the white stone will go to the right side.
20241226_164735.jpg
The end result will be that both the grinder and polisher will be on one pedestal together.
Going to get my new glasses today, so may hit harbor freight for a couple of things while I'm out.
