You probably walk faster than if they fused your knees and replaced your neck... picture that movement...

I'm getting ready to hunker down for winter... you probably have a month or so left to work outside. I don't own long pants... so winter outside is limited to what I can do while sitting on my tractor seat.

I got turboCAD 2019 loaded onto my laptop and made a simple foot/anchor plate for the gazebo. I'm going to get them plased out tomorrow. The boys are going to stop by and help me flip the right panel so I can finish the welds on the bottom side then move it to the main shop so I can start on the left panel.

I usually do ok until about the end of Dec. I typically have to mow once or twice in Dec. Then it's cold until March and that is so much better than Chicago was. I am so glad to be here. I did have to switch to long pants at the beginning of Oct.
I am trying to finish the gazebo in the next week or so then I can put my 70 F100 in that bay and start taking it apart, that will be my winter project. I can keep the door shut and build a fire in the wood heater.

I run my tractor to mulch leaves... couple hundred trees... drop leaves in open areas... in large quantities... I get a tornado vortex that collects all leaves in my front yard... and deposits them at my main garage door... as soon as I open the big door... about 100 gallons of leaves blow inside.

I mulch A LOT because of that interesting feature of my property. I try to blow the mulched leaves back into the forest... or at a minimum... across the way onto the nature preserve land.

I have my fire pit and a pot belly wood stove on my back patio... that pot belly can glow red if it gets going... it provides some warmth in the area I have to walk past to go to my hot tub... It's rough when your wet feet freeze to the stone patio... if you don't walk quickly.

Well its fall in the Tennessee valley, ask me how I know this..... the heat pump went out last night, I looked at it first thing this morning, went to town for parts but no bueno, they are supposed to be in this afternoon. This heat pump is only 10 years old but I'm ready to replace it.
I mowed the lawn and mulched some leaves then greased the mower.
So finally I made it to the shop. I did some final welds and touch up and welded the feet on I plased out yesterday.

Plased these yesterday

Got the return finished
20201104_144242.jpeg
The panels are 11' 6" long so I put a leg in the middle for support.

The boys will come over in the morning and carry this one out so I can finish the left panel.

Got the part for the heat pump it is back on line, Pat is warming up so all is well in my world, I went ahead and sprayed it down with coil cleaner and scrubbed it clean it should be good for a short time. Did I tell you I dont like air ease.
Now back to the shop, I'm going to finish the Jeep today as my new P/S hose got here. I'm thinking that I can move the Jeep and finish the gazebo over there. Maybe?

I bought an aerosol can of that coil cleaner at the big box store a couple years ago, but have not tried it yet. Does it work fairly well? Do you think it would be mildly effective if just sprayed on and hosed off a short while later (skipping the scrubbing part)?

Yes it will, typically I spray the whole unit down and let it soak about 20 minutes, while its soaking I take a shop rag and wipe the green off the sheet metal. The coil cleaner will dissolve build up in the coil fins then you spray it with a water hose. I have seen the aerosol cans but have never used it. I buy a gallon at my local hvac supply store and it lasts forever you cut it 4 parts water and one part cleaner,
note only use the green stuff the black has a high concentration of sulfuric acid in it and will eat holes in your coil real quick.
Someone is cracking down on the hvac supply houses around here they questioned me when I walked in, no license no parts, I told him to check his files and my license would be there. Then an old familiar face walked out from the back room and told him that I was a member of the club.

I found a seized u-joint on the steering shaft of the jeep. Pat has told me that she has to continually correct the steering to keep it straight on the road. The old box had some play so I ordered a new one. When I went to put the shaft back onto it it would not turn so I started looking and found it.

Took it apart and it is rusted solid inside.

I installed the new washer bottle while I was there.

Nobody in town had the u-joint so Amazon will have it here sunday.

Welding is definitely one of my favorite things.
Don
The cart wasn't supporting the welder properly so that was the first fix then stuff parked all over the welder and falling off prompted the other fix.
I had an opportunity to buy an 8000 lb lift for 250 dollars but I said I was done fixing cars, sometimes my old timers affects good decision making. I wont make that mistake again.

Hey, you've been busy! Thanks for the tips on the coil cleaning.

That creeper/chair thingy is pretty cool. I just found another use for one more surplus hospital bed motor I have in storage! LOL

Your welcome for the cleaning tip, I worked for an hvac company before I worked at Bachman. I have cleaned a bunch of units. I think there were close to 50 of them at Bachman.
That creeper is 20,000 dollars! I'll be looking for some hospital bed parts too.
I got the Jeep back together today and we put some miles on it. Then I took it apart and moved some things around again. I'm still not completely satisfied with it. It will drive 60 mph but you have to drive it and pay attention. Which is great compared to the 40 mph top speed that it came with. I still think it will do better.

Ready to go

It was a great day here

I also got the basket back from powder coat. Dalton dose a great job
20201109_211519.jpeg
Now I need to paint the bottle
20201109_211458.jpeg
It stays level and will swivel all the way around the bottle

Jim, in the 2nd photo of the jeep, what kind of tree is that in the background?
Looks like maybe a live oak? Not sure if you have those in your location but it sure looks massive.
Powder coated basket assembly came out nice...

Yes it's an oak and I believe it's one of the biggest in this area. There was a twin next to it but it died. Sometimes I sit on my tailgate and just look at it. Wonder how many houses it would build.
Uncle Willie
Welcome, I dont know but I'm glad you stopped in. You never know what's next at this place.
Pat may skin you alive if you get too close to that truck, She has a 2017 and she says that 97 is the best truck we own.
I got the gazebo assembled in the main shop and before I could get pics it started raining so I parked the mower and quit for the day.
