I had to go get the tractor and move the welder to the main shop then I spent about an hour squaring the frame so I could start building the roof. I cut a post 9'6" and made a bracket to support the center for layout purposes.
Then I had to go to the lodge and measure the seating, we are getting new benches and I had to get a count.
Came back to powder coat and Donnie was working on an insert for another set of handrails I am going to start soon.
Then I had to start the Ford and charge the battery a little bit

I started out with a warm up project this morning. The spray tank on my mower works great except I'm getting to stiff to hook and unhook trailers, the ball is just too far under the tank for me to reach. I took the tank off and made a class three style hitch for the tractor. Later I will modify the tank to fit the reciever but for now I can hook up pain free.
20201112_114528.jpeg
I started with a pile of stuff I gathered this morning
20201112_114547.jpeg
I had some 3/16" plate and cut out the parts I needed.
20201112_120429.jpeg
One flat plate bolted to the frame and one triangle plate bolted to the hitch plate.
20201112_121508.jpeg
I welded a stud to the triangle it will bolt through the original hitch hole.
20201112_122237.jpeg
I cut down this tube and the receiver head. The receiver and plates were welded together and all sharp edges were smoothed out unfortunately that pic disappeared.
20201112_174642.jpeg
I took it to powder coat at around 1:00 and Dalton brought it back at 5:00 when he got off work.
20201112_174938.jpeg
It came out nice
20201112_174712.jpeg
Finished this and now to the gazebo

I started by making a couple of brackets that I thought would help locate the roof rails but figured out that the drops from the roof rails worked just as well.
20201112_181223.jpeg
Brackets made from scrap
20201112_175330.jpeg
I squared and clamped four 20' rails and cut them at 9' then cut the drops to 9' giving me eight 9' pieces
20201112_182107.jpeg
I put some marks on the end to help align the rails during installation.
20201112_184415.jpeg
I used a parts stand and attached a rail to it with a square plate welded to the top set at 9'6" to use as a center point.
20201112_184410.jpeg
After tacking two rails together they were clamped to the square plate on top of the pole
20201112_184252.jpeg
Now I can get each corner close by looking up and adjusting to the numbers. Final measurements will be with a proper ruler. Now I need to make some inserts to weld the rails to but that will be tomorrow.

I got sidetracked today, the bil was going to bring his truck over it has 350,000 miles on it and it has issues, he thinks I can fix it. So I started taking my blast cabinet apart as it needs a tune up. I bought the new parts and they showed up last week. When I took the glass out it did not have a seal under it, that's why it leaked so bad.
View attachment 1070980
Now I know why it leaks
View attachment 1070981
I made up two of these lights I put slight offset bends in the brackets and taped the sockets completely with electrical tape.
View attachment 1070989
I taped the bulbs to the sockets to keep sand out.
View attachment 1070992
Used the heat gun to form an exhaust tip for the fan
View attachment 1070995
Put a screen in to keep the bugs out
20201114_141421.jpeg
Got a fan out of a bathroom exhaust to pipe the dust outside.
That's as far as I got today the bil showed up and ruined my shop time.

Ok I played hookie from the shop for most of the day, I went back to one of the estate sales that I went to on sunday. On Monday they discount everything 70% so I went back and picked up a few things.
20201116_161554.jpeg
They were 8 and 9 dollars each
20201116_162415.jpeg
The two Nylant trucks were new in there boxes.
20201116_162420.jpeg
I had two like these when I was around six.
20201116_172626.jpeg
I got this for Pat, it will be yellow
20201116_174627.jpeg
I got it stripped and sanded, need to get some daisy yellow paint tomorrow.

Nice additions. The dump truck needs to be painted up like yours.

For paint and body, I need to switch to those size so I can get the project completed.

Nice score on the trucks Jim!
All mine got donated to a family from church when I quit playing with them.
Wish I still had them, but don't know where I'd put them!

I wish they still make quality toys. Heath can destroy a plastic truck in a day. He still has my first Tonka truck though.

The big dump and the loader will get painted and I am going to R/C them also, I've got some 12 volt dewalt drills and some old R/C stuff saved up for that.
Terry
My Dad had a big heart and thought everyone else was worse off than we were, He gave everything away, some stuff I wasn't done with. I got a giant tonka set for christmas one year I think it had six pieces in it and in the spring we got two dump truck loads of dirt dropped in the back of our yard, it became the spot to be in our neighborhood. No regrets I wouldn't change a thing.
Uncle Willie
I have Estatesales.net on my email (it should be in your app store) they send me a list every thursday. I saw these trucks friday they were 30 and 35 dollars each, Monday they were 70% off so around 9 dollars each. The guy had about 75 trucks on a built in shelving unit in his basement and about 20 more in a box that he was using for parts. It was hard for me not to make an offer for the lot. But I resisted.
20201118_174209.jpeg
I also got this CJ5 that I am painting to match Pat's CJ5

I got some of the blast cabinet finished today
20201118_163956.jpeg
The motor assembly is done
20201118_171116.jpeg
I got this aluminum cake cover at a sale for 25 cents it will make a great filter cover
20201118_171123.jpeg
First I cut it down to fit the filter
20201118_173646.jpeg
Then I drilled some holes in the bottom, I added three screws through the front to help center the filter. Then an old air cleaner bolt to hold everything in place.
20201118_173831.jpeg
Installed over the vacuum port that was in the side already.
20201118_173837.jpeg
Then I used an old shop vac. hose to go from the cabinet to the exhaust fan.
20201118_164011.jpeg
I added an outlet to the switch that was on the cabinet and plugged the exhaust fan into it. Now when I turn the lights on the fan comes on. Next I'll add an alexa plug to it and it will be voice activated.

I wish we lived closer, we could have some real fun together.
You have some great imagination with all the improvements you are making around your shop. I like Pat's Jeep. You should keep that one you are painting. That way you and Pat would both have a Jeep.

Jim, looking good on the blast cabinet.

On the door I used gorilla tape to close up those dents- keeps sand from falling out when opened.

Love those old toy items also !

Jim, that's too cool about the dirt pile!
We had a small above ground pool till I was about 7 or 8, then it went away and we had about a 20' square sandbox where it had been.
The neighborhood kids and I had quite the earthmoving operation going on there!

I buy real upright deep freezers... the kind you have to defrost... freezer burn is non existent. Only issue is the cooling elements are in the shelves. You can't remove or adjust the heights... requiring full butchering of item before housing it in the freezer.

I measure each shelf and go to the container store for plastic bins... really speeds organization and labelling of frozen meat, veggies, etc

I saw your '98 GMC and was reminded of my '92 Chevy Sport 4x4. With a 350, 5-speed stick. Sold it after 11 years with 60K on it... the proverbial cream puff. Its nice to see those trucks are gaining popularity and value lately
