I was able to spend a couple of hours cleaning the shop this morning then I got two of the four roof panels down and welded out. Then the bil called and wanted help hanging drywall while we were hanging DW I got a call from my grandaughter she volunteered me to help a friend unload a truckload of fish tanks he was given by a friend of his. They ranged from 40 to 120 gallon, I took the bil to do the heavy lifting. Going to look at an El Camino in the morning maybe I'll get the other two panels finished tomorrow.

I got one more roof panel down and welded and ground clean then Pat called me and said there was a new listing on market place for a 14 ft. enclosed trailer it was listed for 1500 dollars. I contacted the guy and we met at his location to look at it. I bought it for 1000 and it has a load of new formica and some countertop blanks in it. I guess I'll be making some new countertops for the shop. Was going to clean the trailer and flip it but the bil went with me and he wants it. That's fine with me he dose flea markets and estate sales and he needs it. I had him help me lower the last roof panel while he was here so it will be easier to get it finished tomorrow. I blew my Wednesday completion date but that's ok it should be done by friday.
Pat found a Ford Explorer she wants to buy so she is cleaning her F150 to see what trade in will be so now I have two trucks for sale a 2016 f150 4 door and a 2005 superduty. Not what I thought was going to happen this week but oh well.
We went and looked at the El Camino this morning and it was an SS edition and he was at $15000.00 so we just kind of looked and left.

You know it DIDN'T HAPPEN WITHOUT PICTURES so take some when you have time of the GAZEBO and all your trailer and truck dealings if you would like to.

i'm jealous of your welding skills and maybe someday i'll get my little one out and start it up and see if I'm any good at it.

is TIG WELDING more difficult than mig or stick or maybe just more expensive. reason being is I'd love to learn to weld aluminum stuff and i'm hearing it's not easy and not many guys good at it?

nice find and negotiation for your BIL!!

Mig is the easiest form of welding, you have a spool of wire in the machine, you make a couple of adjustments to the speed and amps to dial in the setting, it's basically point and shoot. You can get a spool gun to go on your mig to weld aluminum.
Stick welding is antiquated for most light fabricating its messy and not as controllable as mig. It works well for structural applications and large thing. Also nuclear welding.
Tig is an art form, it takes a lot of hand eye coordination it makes beautiful clean welds. With different gasses and filler rods you can weld almost anything. I find it the hardest form to master.(and I am in no means a master) I am moving a tig rig into the fab shop in the next week or so to do some aluminum and stainless projects maybe I can figure out a way to video it for you.
I will catch up on my pics tomorrow. Hopefully things will slow down some tomorrow.

Finally got some QST in today. I only had the roof panels tack welded so as I brought them down I put them on the table and finish welded them, now I'm going back and putting the cross braces in that the roof sheeting will be attached to.

Getting the roof down.

This panel is ready for powder coat.
20210130_155158.jpeg
This is the trailer I picked up last week.
20210130_155046.jpeg
It came already loaded with junk. There are about 20 sheets of formica and about 6 counter top blanks on that wall.
20210130_155112.jpeg
Got a belt sander
20210130_155101.jpeg
A bunch of cabinet hardware.
20210130_155056.jpeg
Couple more partial sheets on this side and a pile of bull nose trim on the floor.
All in all it was a pretty good haul.

I think it is 14' when I get it cleaned out I'll throw a tape on it to be sure. It's funny how things happen, I just told pat that I needed to get some counter tops this summer for the other stall in the shop. I was given some more cabinets and with the counter tops I'll finish that side of the shop.

that looks like a good trailer and i like the flat front instead of the nose I see on so many that are about that size.

i'm guessing that's not the one you bought for a grand that your BIL wanted? whatever you paid for it isn't important. what's important is you are happy and you got a few goodies inside you can actually use.

i'm sure the work on the gazebo you are doing is amazing so can't wait to see how it finishes up. i'll get the popcorn ready.

HJ, it's nice when you have a need for something and end up killing 2 birds with one stone. That's a nice trailer and a bonus that you got materials for your garage bay build out.
After struggling with a work surface for a small welding project I am working on your welding table set up makes me jealous. That's a lot of real estate to work on.

Ok, I haven't gotten through your thread, so can you help me out in the meantime? How many vehicles/tractors/trailers do you have? Are you at the Strouty/Uncle Willie level, a middle weight like me, or a manageable level like Jon04?

Jay I'm going to miss that table when it's gone. It is actually two sheets of 10 gauge and one sheet of 16 gauge that I bought for projects that I haven't been able to do. I needed the table for doing hand rail and the gazebo when it's done the 10 gauge is the new floor for my dump trailer.

Shopnut yes it is. The extra stuff is almost more fun than the trailer. We were going to empty it out today and move it to the bil's house but we got rained out

The bil hanging out at my shop

Shorty thanks, I'm dying to get back to work on them but I put myself in time out until I get some of the house projects finished or they never will get done.

That is a very comfortable chair, I need to moterize it so I can drive it around the neighborhood.
Xtremek
I need to get rid of about half of them Pat and I are the only drivers here so it's kind of a waste. I bought the superduty because I blew the head gasket on the Dodge and let Pat talk me into buying a big boys truck ( She said my Dodge was a toy ). I bought the F150 to replace the Tahoe that we rolled.

Couple of toy cars

I'm powder blasting some stuff for the powder coat shop today. They chemically stripped this wheel and the surface looked stained so we evened it out a little. There big blaster is still down waiting on parts so no bueno on my gas pump panels yet. I'm getting the other parts together so I'll be ready to go when they get back.

So I'm curious, What is the Strouty/ Uncle Willie level and am I possibly in that level??

I've downsized from 50 cars/trucks/boats/trailers a couple of years ago. I'm around 30 now
only 5 are projects

Since we don't have a party garage/museum you are a level above.

I just counted. I have 21 vehicles. 5 are in running driving condition. None of those are worthy of being parked down the block from the party garage.

Only 20, 7 have plates and ins.

Pat and I took a ride to sequatchie valley today, Dunlap Tn. area, it was a little over an hour trip to buy some book cases for the Grandaughter's bedroom. Her collection of native american books is starting to take over the house.
The book cases are rather non discript but the ride was amazing Pat and I decided we are going back in the spring when the mountains start to green up. The next trip I will take a real camera and get some good pics.
The phone pics dont do any justice to it.
Tomorrow it's back to the shop and get some work done.

rmack you wont regret it pidgeon forge is a great place to visit. I haven't been there since the virus started but the strip is loaded with theaters and live shows. Depending on what weekend you go there may be a car show on the strip, 100's of cars show up. Dollywood is at least an all day stop on its own, they have a great working blacksmith shop and live shows also. About 6 or 8 miles through the smokey mountain national forest takes you to Gatlinburg it is as big as pigeon forge they make lots of candy and food there. Cooter from the dukes of hazzard still had a place there the last time I was there.

Mack, there’s plenty of tail in Pigeon Forge, but it’s mostly 75 yr old tail. Dolly is still looking good. Have been to the Dragon before?
If Cades Cove is open and you like settler’s history, it’s kinda interesting.
