Had a very busy day today, First I took the microwave apart looking for a short, must have found it because it went completely blank.
20210618_090738.jpg20210618_101705.jpg20210618_124237.jpg20210618_124241.jpg I went and got the tractor and forks but got sidelined at Donnies looking at his boat, he needs to move the motor up three inches.
I had to move several pallets, I had the wrong metal in the wrong place. Took the forks back and got the grapple then went to the neighbors and moved a mountain of brush and some mouldy round bails to his burn pile.

I finished the back wall of the coop.
20210618_142859.jpg
I'm going to put foam insulation board in the walls.
I put a new set of gator blades on the mower and it developed a weird knock. It took a bit to find but two of the blades were touching. I took 3/16" off both ends of one of the blades and that cured the problem. Had to go to Lowes and get some rabbit wire to finish the front of the coop. I'm using rabbit wire to keep the snakes out. While we were there we picked up a new microwave. Went to City Cafe for Buffalo wings and some adult beverages, had 1/2 a piece of oreo pie. Went home and mowed the yard and watered the plants. Came in the house and had the other half of the oreo pie. Now I'm thinking about installing the microwave.

Thanks Don,
The heat got me yesterday it got to 90 and 80% humidity so I called it and went to the house.
Tony,
I feel like I could call them any time and get help so I help when I can. I think that's the way the big Guy wanted us to be!
Yours is the third one, it got mailed today.

X,
I'm starting to get some ribbing about it, someone said pines was moving in.

The coop is doing well I have buried wire mesh around the base and used metal siding in an attempt to keep the snakes out, Pat has a specific relationship with snakes or better yet no relationship with them, so in order for her to be able to enjoy the chickens I need to keep the snakes out.
I went to Charlston Tn. This morning for breakfast and a Masonic degree. Came home for a bit and installed the new microwave, it fit perfect.

Now I'm off to Georgia for supper with the the grand council of Georgia, there such a fun bunch.

Didnt do much today, went to a couple of estate sales, found a 1932 Chrysler that has been in the same family since it was new. It's all there and runs good and it has no rot in it anywhere. The current bid was 6,000 dollars, Pat tried to get me to put in a bid but I held out and bought a craftsman bench grinder for 15 dollars instead.

X,
It was hard to walk away, it didnt have the first pinhole in it. All the rust was surface rust, the door jambs and rockets still had paint on them. I know the guys that helped the sales company sort out the parts and they started it and it moved in the garage. I just have so many things to get done here that I made me promise that I wouldn't bring anything else home until the others are done.
I have a couple of suspension issues to fix on Pat's 73 CJ5

And I have been sitting on my 64 C10 for a couple of years, I wont start it until the house projects are finished.
20200321_170300 (7).jpg

I have gathered most of the major pieces for it and it hurts every time I walk by it, but it waits.

Preach the pain of walking by the C10, same with my '52. I'm trying very hard to get everything off my plate so i can finally dedicate real time to it. It might get to the point of many late nights soon. Every one else has been getting a turn, I hope our turn comes soon.

Good on you. The more I see other people walk away from potentially fun projects, the more discipline I have to do it. I do like having several going at once so I don't get bored or stalled on one. But its all those others that sort of eat away at you when you're completely ignoring them.

Fantastic progress going on there. Keep up the momentum!

That's it, I just keep piling on new projects, saying this will only take a week to finish. I really want to get caught up and clear my plate. I sold my 70 F100 which killed me but I knew it would rot before I got to it.
I went back to the estate sale today (Last day is 70% off) to see if there was anything I needed, nothing. The man told me the 32 Chrysler was bought by a man that ownes a wedding venue, he will restore it for a bridal car.
I welded up a firepit that Dalton came up with, he is trying to be creative.

What a wide array of stuff you have going on. I also want to finish a couple house projects before embarking on bigger shop stuff.

Craig, it all goes back to the same root, with me...learning to say no is so hard. I am getting better, the neighbor asked if I could bush hog his pastures again, I told him I was just too busy and felt bad about it. He said that was ok his buddy wanted to do it but since I did it last he wanted to ask me first. Go figure!

Yep, every six weeks the semi trucks start rolling in and the chicken wranglers start filling the cages and stack them on the flatbeds, that takes all night. They clean and replace the floor material then add new chicks. Cha-Ching every six weeks.

. snip

Jim

I came over here to look in after Kirk (Xtremek) suggested on my thread that I look up your "Grocery Carts"..... Still looking through, but your post, above, strikes a chord with me. The company I work (now part time) for, has one business in the poultry game. And we have fleets of trucks all over Australia that collect broilers from farms 5 nights a week (and at one depot - our biggest one - - it's 24/7). We carry 6 million chooks a week to processing plants around Australia (50% of the total kill per week here). So I'm very familiar with the process. We also have fleets that pick up fertilised eggs for our Hatchery (2.5 million birds a week), and other fleets that provide chicken feed (milled grain) to farms.

Anyway - going to look for the Grocery Carts section now.

Lyndon

When are you getting delivery of that 32? LOL...

When people were in a rush... I always said... "would tomorrow be ok, for that?"... they would say "Really?"... I would respond... laughing... "nooooooo, I'm completely booked for all the tomorrows in the near future, day after tomorrows too. "

Lyndon,
Here is one video,
received_608141126808739.jpeg

Pines,
I checked back with the guy I new that worked the sale, he said the 32 sold for 16,000 dollars not 6,000 like the other guy said, still the ones I looked at on line were going way north of 100,000 dollars. I probably should have bought it. But I really want to get on my 64 C10 and finish it.

I had to go to Roan county Tn. Yesterday, my Son in law lost his brother last month and his Dad this week. Both were cremated and they had a burial service yesterday, Charlie the sil dug the grave himself and after the service I helped him shovel the dirt back and dress the grave. They do things the old way in Roan county.
20210622_202749.jpg

Charlie and my stepdaughter Trish.
We took them out to eat and to talk after the service. Charlie has battled cancer for years. It is visible on his cheek, he is going in thursday to get surgery on it again. He is a tough Man,, I'm praying he comes through this ok.

So now I'm back to the grind today, I started on the coop and the bil showed up to help so we got a bunch done.
20210623_162136.jpg20210623_171939.jpg20210623_171948.jpg

I have some wire to bury across the front and finish the trim.
I'll take the door back to the shop so that I can square it on the welding table and install the wire and corner braces.
I'm hoping to get the chickens by early next week.

Jim, sorry to hear about your family’s losses. It’s never easy.

The coop is looking good.
When we built ours, I was able to get a bunch of the concrete test cylinders and we buried those around the perimeter, used the small square chain link fence and the rest is wood and sheet metal.
We also placed a couple of oak branches in the open area for perches, the chicks love it. We love to listen to them complain!

Jim, when my mother passed away in 2009 I took her ashes to New Rochelle, NY and dug the grave (over my father) so the old way isn't gone everywhere. I'm in no rush but I am trying to figure out how to dig my own grave and make a tombstone.

Their faces say a lot. Prayers sent for them. The coop is looking good. I need to get to your point on the duck yard. I need to put a fence, a pond, and a hydrant in. I love the fact that its all repurposed. Very trendy of you. ;)

Thanks guys, life goes on. I'm just hoping that they move out of Roan county and get back to civilization soon, there ain't nothin' but rattle snakes growing in Roan county.

I got some more accomplished today on the coop.
20210624_122921.jpg

I took the door to the shop and squared it on the welding table.

20210624_122926.jpg

I used my upholstry staple gun to shoot the wire down, it worked well.

20210624_124935.jpg

I put a turnbuckle on for good measures.

20210624_180702.jpg

After mounting the door and finishing the trim I started on a brooder table. I will need to finish the top tomorrow, the cage I was going to use was just ****, there was only access from the top I need front access as Pat is only five ft. tall.

20210624_180705.jpg

This is what I was going to use. I think I can do better.
With a little luck we may go get some chicks tomorrow.
