Congrats on your sale of you little cart even though I know it was a sweet ride for you. Now you can take what you learned from building it and build something even better.

what product did you say you will use on trailers roof after you remove the rust and prep it? Perfect plan to keep you valuables safe while you work on the basement improvements. Good luck too

I spent the day disassembling pallets.

It was 90 today so it was slow and steady.
20210812_125455.jpg
I got a new pan for nails.
20210812_170625.jpg
Got a good stack of 10' boards.
20210812_170632.jpg
Added a few to this stack but it got a little shakey.
20210812_170619.jpg
Collected a few nails today.

Stacked a few dow here also.
I'm thinking that I should make a set of saw horses and put a pallet on them to stack the 10' boards on

Seeing that you spent the day cleaning wood today makes me think that it will be a good idea for me to clean up some fence wood for the saloon tomorrow. Same process, pull the nails and stack the wood.

When the sun got behind the trees this evening I moved Pines and Uncle Willie's truck up top.
20210812_171606.jpg
I wanted to spray the roof of the trailer with muriatic acid and didnt want it getting on the truck.
20210811_124741.jpg
I used a mix of 4 parts water and one part acid, then put the mixture in a plastic pump sprayer I put the ladder up wind so I didnt get a face full of smoke and sprayed it very heavy.

Don, I never thought I would be taking pallets apart but these are different times. I'm really enjoying myself as it is somewhat quiet out back and I get to think about my projects and the exercise is great. I'll sleep like a baby tonight.

You are trying to get rid of the rust and the last time I used muriatic acid I was trying to age new shinny corrugated tin for my man cave. I poured the acid on straight and let it sit in the sun for a month adding acid every few days and after 6 weeks this is what I got

The Jersey boys are sitting on the tin on the side of the man cave (mezzanine)

I am glad you moved my truck away from the acid.

I have been looking around here for some descent pallets, but all I find are junk or super thin. Good thing is lumber prices are going back down, so maybe I can afford a sheet of plywood soon without selling a child or two.

I think your Ospho won't stop anything (I'm guessing my treatments don't either), but it should slow the rust down, a little.

The acid wash took a bunch of the rust off, I had to rinse it for quite a while. The ospho did its thing, I feel that I do have a much better surface for the cool seal to stick. I'm going to take the A/C cover off when I seal it, the vent cover on the rear will get sealed in.

Yes it will neutralize rust, the proper application is to knock off the large loose stuff, apply the ospho, it can be applied by spray or a rag. The key is after a few minutes it needs to be thourly rinsed and dryed.
It can also be used as a long term sealer if you dont wash it off, when your ready to paint just reactivate by reapplying ospho then wash and dry.
Sandblasting negates the need to reactivate, just blast and paint.

Didnt get much done around the house this weekend, had to attend a celebration of life for the son of a friend of mine on Saturday and had a meeting saturday night. It rained all day Sunday so I worked in the shop for a while. The trailer roof is waiting on me.
Scott called me this morning and wanted to know if I could go next door and move a crate for him, he ordered a rotisserie for his 56 chevy and the driver dropped it in the road, I got the tractor and moved it to the car port.

It's still raining here in sunny Tennessee. At least I got to do a real time water test on the trailer roof, no leaks to report now if it will stop raining I can get the cool seal finished.
The goats have been running loose all summer, I have been watching them drift farther from home every day and yesterday they made it inside my fence. They were feasting on Pat's hibiscus and roses.
Now I'll have to keep the gates shut, looks like there may be a gate opener in my future.

Ipakiz, welcome.

The first steer we had was Elmer. He was a good pet. I was 10 when he became steaks. I knew exactly what I was eating, and dang was he good. My parents had his hide tanned, and the farm house was so cold, I used it for a blanket.
