Good people, He worked at Miller Industries (the Tow truck people) he built that 56 from scratch, pic says 55 but it was a 56, he just finished building a Harley, had everything going for them.
Wish people could just get there shots and get this over with.
Got 7 down in my family. We dont see them so no chance of us having it from them but still gets me.

I am sorry to read this. And sorry for your loss too.

my friend Dennis in St Louis is going to a memorial car show this morning in memory of a friend who was heavily into all things we hold dear.
Covid took him earlier this tear too.
it is indiscriminate and brutal.

We need to be sensible about how we deal with it.

And like using a seat belt, even if you have no intentions of having a wreck, it may make the difference.

We are all losing friend and family to this, she had heart issues and apparently He was compromised also, I haven't had a chance to talk to family yet. There were no kids because of her health issues, there parents will have to handle the mess.
We have visitors coming this weekend I need to get busy and clean my messes up so they dont think I live like a bum.

Now to keep them happy for a while
Sorry about your friends, never a good ending.

I know nothing about making alcohol, only drinking it ,but I do know about using a refractometer, as a way of checking coolant concentration . Didn’t know that was available to check alcohol concentration, makes we want to check every bottle I have.

Sorry for your loss. We got an e-mail from the high school Thursday telling us that one of the kids in one of our daughter's classes has Covid, and if your kid hasn't been vaccinated, they have to quarantine for 2 weeks. We've all had our shots, so we're good. The schools have about a 50% take rate on the shots. Anyway, you have my condolences.

Isn't coolant ethylene glycol, so it has some alcohol somewhere in it.

Chris I'm not sure if they are the same tool or not but the principle is the same it's all alcohol based.
Yes Kirk most antifreeze used to be sugar based, rv antifreeze was made from beets.
Two of my buckets quit working so I re-yeasted them and that didnt work so I put it back in the pot and brought it up to temperature to sterilize it now I am going to pitch another type of yeast, mainly because I'm out of the 1118.

Thanks for the thoughts guys.

Had a busy weekend, Trish and Charlie came down from Oliver springs and spent the weekend, daughter and SIL. We grilled some burgers and dogs and consumed copious quantities of George Dickell whiskey and coke. We sent out for Buffalo wings around midnight, pat and Trish wernt exactly excited about being delivery drivers at that time of night but the wings were good.

Tonight I'm grilling again but no George Dickell tonight

They sell these at Aldi's

I had a couple of other visitors stopped in this morning trying to buy pickup trucks. And test driving the equipment.

I should clarify,I am a machinist so meant coolant for turning and milling operations, but along the same principle I guess.

Harley Jim,

If you still have some of the George Dickell whiskey I can be there in 10ish hours. Shorty was there with no blood?Hmm must have had a rubber room for him.:ROFLMAO:

Chris, I'm not sure about cooling fluid but I would say it has a specific gravity so it would have a reading. No one has been able to tell me if an automotive and an alcohol refractometer are different or are they like an oral and rectal thermometer you just dont mix the two!!!
I always have George and Jack on hand. Stop by anytime.
I was glad that Shorty stopped by it's always good to shake hands and talk.

Is this a thing now? Go to Jim's place, meet his sweet heart of a lady, Pat, get your pic taken in "the truck", and rub Uncle Willie and Pines nose in it? Couldn't happen to two nicer guys.

Since its labor day we thought some yard work would be appropriate so Pat is trimming around her new this year Banana tree and found three new sprouts, they can be moved in the spring. Were starting a Banana grove on that bank it's not fit for much else.

It's getting too hot outside so were going to the basement to wire lights.

Don, The weather folks said after the hurricane went through the temps and humidity would drop, I have noticed a little breeze but that's about it, Its still hot.

Kirk, I'm not sure on the bananas, I kind of doubt there will be or they will be tiny. The tree will die back every winter in this zone but will grow back bigger each year. I saw one in Harrison that is about 15 ft. tall.
I have to finish installing 21 can lights, and the outlets, finish a couple of other electrical circuits for other parts of the house, then we are going to install 6" tongue and grove flooring on the cieling, I have one more window opening to enlarge and install the new window then finish the concrete around all three.
Then we need to install a gas line for the stove and another water line for the future, (the county says were getting city water) in the near future there will be new concrete outside and access to a new line cant happen. Then we can paint and install the LVT flooring system.

banana trees! wow! even if you don't get banana fruits, you can use the leaves to wrap food and smoke or bbq or pit/coals cooked stuff! Cooked in coals fish!

My ex-MIL did the tastiest steamed sticky rice/meat banana leaf wrapped pouchey things. Re-hydrating dried banana leafs was a pain in the ***, fresh would be great!

Sounds like a lot of progress on the basement canning area!

Question, do you have a stove/venting hood planned? All those boiling pots have to make clouds of steam? Plus the gas range venting. Bigger vent/hood is always better! Wouldn't want it to become a Swedish sauna/bathhouse down there (although those are fun to go to).

Ancient condoms

All over the world, evidence showed that humans have commonly protected their ******** with some sort of tool. Materials varied from silk, linen, cotton, papyrus, to gold or banana leaves, and were treated with herbs or chemicals.

Nice! maybe we need a "what do you use your banana leaf for" thread?

Also, I don't want to speak for you, but I sure couldn't afford that much gold... :lol_hitti

S&A I'm planning on building an exhaust system over the stove, I'm trying to come up with something unique to use for the hood.
I didnt think about cooking with the leaves, that's a good thought.

Pines I'll send you a leaf, but I will need video.

Uncle Willy Pat gets the funniest grin on her face when I read her the posts about the truck. She muttered something about first born: Dunno
She did drive it to town today said it needed to be kept loose.

Careful on the video, some things can't ever be unseen...

Everything can be used for cooking!

Is your canning area rustic decor? maybe an old galvanized livestock/chicken feeder? Something along those lines. I sure know you could fab one up that looked rustic too.

That old red truck has useful bed fenders? those would work too. Or maybe the hood?
