Nice tip on the gutter nails and great work getting everything dug out and already pouring your footers.

One idea I figured out on those edges of a footing that will get covered up is to form it with old trex decking boards that I pick up usually for free. They are usually 5.5 inches wide so I can pour thick or put some gravel or dirt in bottom of form if I don’t pour that thick but I usually pour thicker and have very few cracks

I know the birthday celebrations and good food won’t stop anytime soon so enjoy it and keep up the good work!!

By the way I put in a Sunday after every 6 Saturdays to keep my days organized.

We got the second footer poured, it's already 80 degrees at 11:00 but it's done.
Biggen stopped this morning and said he would be here tomorrow if he finished the job he is on now, if not he will start monday.

This one will be taller so it gets rebar every 4' and the cavities will be poured with concrete to keep it from leaning.

Drives, we had a 12" bucket and had made a flat cutting edge to fit it but a friend of Donnies borrowed it so I used a 16".
It actually worked out well as you can see in the first pic that I formed on both sides on different ends. I couldn't get the machine straight on and was digging at a 50% angle, I got off but the boards put me back straight.
No birthday celebrations just working on this project. Pat did make a lemon pound cake that I had a piece of. Thanks.

I love watching a good concrete block mason work. Does your mortar mix only have 2 parts sand to one part mortar or what’s the ratio? Or do you add lime too?

Best of luck and hope biggen does a great job.

They got here at 11:00 did all of there prep, unloaded all of the block by hand off of the trailer, cleaned up and left by 3:30. It was 80deg. With no shade. Said they would be back at 7:30 Monday morning.
All of them are Biggens kids,
I was impressed.
I will fill the voids and go get some 1" cap block to finish the tops
