Is Tony the only one allowed to consider it or is it a open invitation? If I was to move back north I would be called a “half backer” .

Not at all Chris, this place is full of half backers. Come on!

Shorty, I keep holding out for the completion of the generator project, and I'm due for new cpap equipment next year so I was being cheap and holding out hoping that I could get insurance to pick up the cost but it is getting old.

I had to get some metal trim blasted and over to Dalton for powder coat but the cabinet decided to **** out so I dropped the sand and pulled the glass off (Thanks Tony) so I could clean it. The filter was packed, and the sand was baby powder.

I made this tool to remove the thumb screws Tony sent me.

It made removing the 12 screws a breeze, I washed the glass and put it back together in minutes. Got everything blasted and over to Dalton before he started on my other parts.

They dont have a tree trimming program anymore, I asked and was told that it is cheaper to repair tree damage than to have a trimming crew. I guess I should be happy my house is all electric and my bill runs about 150 per month. The down side is it's usually at night when we loose power and I cant sleep without a cpap. I am going to check into a battery back up for it.

This blows my mind. Up here our big provincial power company has probably dozens of tree crews with some very fancy equipment, and they say it's still way cheaper to trim trees compared to fixing broken lines.

They've been doing a lot of work around here lately. They cut anything within a certain distance of the lines. It sure makes for some butchered trees when the tree is close enough that they cut half of it off but not close enough to cut the whole thing down. It's like someone chopped it right in half lol.

You nail that Chris, they are floating and every time you tap one a little too hard three others move. I know I'll never do another one.
Knees need grease fittings installed today, they are stiff.

You need a tile leveling system. They make installing big tiles MUCH easier.

Jim I brought a 500w Jackery for my CPAP so I could go camping and use during power outages. Worked great at Flywheelers last February. Will be useful for running power tools for a short period also.
There are some deals on Amazon today and tomorrow on those Jackerys.

I use a 380w ninja battery... works great. Only runs the cpap.

Jgg, it blows mine too, but nobody here is proactive, that's what got me here (because I was proactive)
I have two more floors to install in my life and both of them are floating plank flooring, The bil caught me at a weak moment so I let him help me install his floor, I installed the sub floor, its laser level, the problem was the bil and his big rubber hammer hitting the tile like he was swinging for the fences. He dosnt know what finesse means.

Terry got it right, the bil needs it.

Willy, they clear a path through the 60' pine trees, put up wire towers and wire then walk away.

Pines, long time buddy. I'm getting close on the generac being finished so I'm hoping that will fix it.
I'm due for new equipment in less than a year, I'm going to see if insurance offers a cpap with a battery or a backup option. Let them pay for it.

I spent most of the day soliciting money from local businesses to help support the car show we are putting on in September.

It went well, as usual the people with the checkbook were off today!

Bailed the bil out again today, his shower valve cartridge died.

Had to run to lowes and pick up a cartridge $53.00, OUCH!

We used to drive out M59 near Hartland, Mi and the pc had trimmed two trees, right in the middle of them. Later, the cut the opposite sides of the two trees, so from a distance they looked like one with a big hole in it. We called them the "donut trees".

Theres a bunch of trees hacked up like that in town where developers like to plant rows of trees under power lines.

One cartridge per year, your on the list.

I built a grinder stand for Johnny, he runs the sand blasting for Dalton at the pc shop.

He will take it apart and blast it and powder coat it, hopefully they will get me a pic when its done.

That hubcap reminded me of that horrible "Turbine" wheel era!
Damn, I hated those things!
I bet I lost 50lbs of knuckle meat on them over the years working in the alignment shop.
My '73 Monte Carlo had them from the factory.
1st thing I did was shitcan them for some Corvette Rally Sports.

Nice stand, otherwise!

Hope the knees feel better, it is a shame that it wasn’t pain for one of your projects. The floor does look really nice though, I am sure your BIL thinks the pain was worth it. 🙃

I got two of my yard lights reassembled,
20220714_122605.jpg
When I bought them they had three candelabra bulbs, I took them out and converted them to a standard base and built a halo that will allow another bulb to be mounted from the top. My thought was to put a 60 watt bulb in the bottom with a dusk to dawn switch, and the other a 5000 watt led security light on a motion switch, this would be for light for the cameras.
I went to Josh's house this afternoon to backfill some trenches that they had dug to replace failed sewer lines from the house to the tank, a gas line to the new propane tank, and a gray water line from the house to the field where he is going to install a french drain.
Pat is cooking supper for them tonight, we invited them to get a home cooked meal for a change.

This neighborhood is becoming family, the folks here are all about helping each other.
Josh and Haley are trying to just get moved in as Josh is going to have surgery on his shoulder Aug 2nd. So Pat and I are just trying to help make that happen. Currently they are staying with friends and that wont be good for post surgery.

That is awesome news about the neighborhood. Good neighbors make all the difference.

Prayers go out for him and his surgery. Hope for a quick recovery and minimal down time.

Pat and I went to three estate sales this morning, came home with an old pipe wrench that used to have a wooden handle.

20220715_163052.jpg
I started blasting it before I realized that I didnt take a before pic. The handle was bent so it got some heat and a bit of anvil time. I'll finish it tomorrow.
Went to Josh's house to work on the yard but the hired man didnt make it today, he went hog hunting last night and crapped out. What a wus.
So I went back to my shop to work on the lamp posts.
20220715_175137.jpg
I need an access panel to wire them after installation.
20220715_185515.jpg
I plug welded some tabs inside the pipe and tapped them 1/4-20 thread, then drilled and counter sunk the holes.
20220715_185854.jpg
The fit up nice, Pat called and supper was ready so I quit for tonight, hopefully I'll finish and paint tomorrow.

We had great neighbors at the old place. Well, we did after I trained Bob. Once I told him inwas going to pound him into the ground like a tent peg things got better.

New neighbor's aren't bad, I just don't know them yet.

Thanks,
I think that I'm ready for paint on the light poles, I'm hoping tomorrow I can get to them. Dalton thought I was mad at him because I was painting instead of powder coating them. Truth is one whole stall over there is full of my stuff.

The grinder stand is just good business, it's for Johnny, the sand blaster at the PC shop.

Two good coats of rustoleum satin black, hopefully I can stay with it and get them installed, Now that the water leak in the basement is behind us I would like to get back to the floor and finish it and get the basement off our list.
