Kirk, I've been threatened with bodily harm by several if I didnt cool it for a bit.
Welder, I still dont know what happened with me, we were talking about PT and being down 4-6 weeks, there was an electrical fire at the center I was supposed to go to so I was sent to the hospital instead, the Doc was so busy trying to not cancel anyone that we didnt get to talk yet, I see him Feb 6th, I'll find out what happened then.
I feel great and am ready to get the right one done.
I do hope you are doing well, and feeling ok. Prayers to you my friend.

Good to hear things went well!

I solved the problem with a Word document that has all my medical information. I print the first two pages (one sheet) before going to a new doctor/dentist/facility and hand it to them. It has my name, date of birth, address, phone numbers, email, insurance numbers and pharmacy (name, address and phone) at the top. Next is a table that lists all the doctors I see or have seen in the past, with their specialty, phone and fax. Next is a table that lists all the medicine I take or have taken, with the generic and brand names as well as the dose and frequency. The drugs I no longer take are shaded (with an explanatory note above the table that no one seems to notice). Finally, there's a table that lists all the major procedures I've had done with year, location and doctor.

Sometimes they ask "When was your last visit with your [fill in specialty]?" so I started tracking current treatment with dates and description of each doctor visit. When I get "that call" I offer to fax the two pages of information (most medical facilities still use fax machines) or the whole package. Those calls take very little time now and faxing or handing them the information three or four times is quite satisfying. Really cuts down on the form filling time at the office -- the answer to every question is "See Attached."

Do you not have electronic medical records down there? Up here all that stuff is digital, any healthcare provider can access it so they know all your previous health history, providers, prescriptions, etc.

I'm glad the "Boss" is making you behave. We'll see if I'm as good a patient next week.

Uh oh, what did you do K?

I'm finally getting around to getting the big toe on my right foot fixed. Has bunch arthirtis and bone spurs. Rotator cuff surgery probably later this month as well. Trying to get them all done at once, minimize the down time.

Ok, we'll take that.
I'm debating the rotator surgery myself, I am going to at least go see a specialist for his opinion. I tore both of mine when they did my knees the first time.
I didnt do much of anything today, sat in the basement and watched YouTube videos. Trying to learn Fusion360!

Looks good.
I was going to make a trip to HD to buy some closet rod brackets. But it was to early so I had a cup of coffee and made a model.

3 and half hours later. I had the closet rod brackets.

I didn't even have to get out my PJ's.

Oh man. rotator cuff? I hope it's not serious.

Fusion 360 is powerful. But I haven't bothered with it. I do all my modeling in FormZ or Zbrush. There is a free version of FormZ. It's a little like Sketchup only your less likely to build bad geometry. Happy to help you with the program if you want to try it.

Yeah, my orthopedic surgeon said if it's really bad they can't do anything about it.

Lenny, I'll take a look at it,
I've been watching 360 tutorials and the current videos go way to fast to grasp what the guy is doing, I'm not real happy with the format.

Kirk, I hope you can get it fixed,
I'm sure they are going to tell me that I waited too long, I'm going to see who my knee Doc recommends to go see.
Josh went to the Doc this spring to have one fixed, and the Doc said that he may or may not see a result so he canceled his surgery.

They can definitely help the arithritis in the shoulder, but if the rotator cuff is torn up really bad, or been that way too long, there's not much they can do for that, according to my surgeon.

Mine happened 5 years ago so probably no bueno!

Josh called a couple of day ago and needed help with a bucket pin on his mini excavator, it had broke into three pieces, I told him to go to the fab shop and get two ft. of 1¾" cold roll and we would make him a pin, we got it for 60 dollars, the alternative was to buy one from the dealer at almost 600 bucks.
Today he called and said the thumb would not fully retract so we heated the arm with the torch and took the kink out of it, he said it worked out well. Didnt think to get a pic, then he called and said he lost a pin out of the blade,
IMG_0928.jpg
He poked around in the mud with a metal tee post and found the pin,
It is 2½" dia. by 12" long and only held in with a ⅜" bolt through the top, we put a new bolt in it and then I welded a 3" washer to the top of the pin, if the bolt brakes again it wont fall out.
Now I'm tired and going in for the day!

Kay, I played with that a little yesterday, a friend of mine, Ken recomend it, but I got tired and had to quit.
Ken weller was my neighbor when I first moved to Tennessee. He didnt have a print farm back then.
He is an engineer and encourages me to jump in, I could go spend days with him, but! I think I'll figure it out.

Bugnut, thanks, I'm not getting the down time we thought was going to happen, but I'm making it a point to go to the office and do it! I'm still looking at everything that people have suggested. More to come.
Pat and I went to several estate sales Sunday, it's the first time in a long time that I felt like walking 👍👍 we found a few things that we just couldn't live without, pics to come.

I'm going to start a new project today. My neighbor Rob passed a few months back, Rob is Donnies Fil. They are working on emptying the house and doing repairs.

There are some soft spots in the floor so Donnie started investigating and found this.
We installed drainage tile back in November and it was successful in drying the crawlspace, now to rebuild!

I'm feeling great, my only regret is not doing both at the same time, but I was scared after the first time.

Donnie is definitely the lead on this one, He got the main beam leveled tonight while I was at the lodge, I'm going to cut for him tomorrow while he crawls the crawlspace and measures!
There is a hill behind the house and it was putting a ton of water under the house and Rob would never say when something was wrong, typical old guy, didnt want to bother anyone. We did put a curtain drain behind the house earlier in the year and it stopped the water, it's a beautiful brick 1970 Spanish ranch, it even had a sunken living room back in the day!

Thanks Kay, I have that in the shed👍
Thanks, Sub. I appreciate that.

Well I knew the time was getting close so I put a light bulb in the chicken coop last week. The hens are five months old and it's time to earn there keep. Chickens will lay when they have around 15 hours of light daily, it dosnt have to be sunlight just light.
20230117_185114.jpg
I'm so proud!
Josh and I moved the laying box and installed the new feeder today, and I forgot to get a pic. It worked well, I put 100 lbs of feed in it and it isnt half full, I'm going to the feed store tomorrow!

20230117_132813.jpg
I got back to Josh's bumper, these are the bars I drilled last week to accept the clevis'
I bolted them to the frame and welded them to the I-beam plate.
20230117_132823.jpg
The plate bolt is rusty, it's been there for a couple of months, the bar mounting bolt is clean.
20230117_160413.jpg
We cut a piece of steel 61½"x 5½" and ran it all of the way across the bottom front edge, added a 2½"x16" piece to the top front edge, then a filler plate was welded inside, this is an attempt to keep the bumper from denting when he pushes trees down.
20230117_160429.jpgI welded inside to help keep it together, capped the ends.
20230117_174201.jpg
Top plates were cut, you can see the reinforcement plated inside at this angle pretty good.
20230117_175345.jpg
Welded, and ground smooth.
20230117_175353.jpg
Then we took the bumper off and put it on the welding bench, I'll finish welding the back and grind everything smooth, and get it to powder coat before lunch!
Donnie said they had a slow day tomorrow and I may get it back tomorrow, that would be great.

Nice work on the bumper!

40+ years ago, I wound up with a surplus M715 that the local VFD was using as a brush truck.

Some ingenious guy at firehouse fabbed some HEAVY brackets, and had a 3" pipe welded horizontally across width of truck, stuck out about 20".

And before he welded the 3" in, he slide on a length of 5"ish pipe over the 3".

Acted as a roller, they'd ease into small trees,ride/ roll up a bit, and ride them down.

Brilliant!

Thanks to you! I just had an order of solar lights delivered today for in and around the coop.

Hopefully that will increase the hens output. 👍

I gathered nine eggs this morning! Cant explain why I find it so fun!
Biggen stopped by this morning, he had some bearings go bad on a mortar mixer and couldn't get the pully off, he removed the assembly and brought it with him so I cleaned up the end of the shaft and it came right off. The shaft was junk so I cut him a new one and I had two pillar bearings that matched his so he got everything he needed to put it back together.

He had ordered some parts so now he has a spare set up.
Then Pat and I went antique shopping.

I get it. I used to love to see if the chickens laid any eggs at my grandma's. She had chickens that laid blue and green eggs. It would be Easter year round.
Funny family story. When my mom was a kid. She wanted a scrambled eggs. My mom's cousin told her to go and cook them. She said she didn't know how to crack and egg. He said bring me the egg. Then he cracked it on her forehead. My mom said she was so mad that she couldn't see straight. But she was laughing when she told me the story.

Cool story Lenny! I do like my chickens, one of mine laid an egg on the basement stairs a couple days ago and it rolled down and broke on the next step. They arnt very bright!

Did you buy us anything cool?
Yes, I think I did!
20230201_145411.jpg

I got them down $10 Bucks on the camaro. It came from Brik Braks, I bought a metal cabinet also that Pat wanted.
Here's a couple of long shots of the store.

20230201_144842.jpg
Then we went to Moras, there landlord passed away and the kids gave them a 30 day notice to get out, so they are having a 50% off sale, they arnt going to be able to move everything they have in 30 days!
20230201_154731.jpg
A friend of ours collects this style of chicken so we picked it up for him/his wife.
Moras has a bunch of junk that I would like to have, but at half price they are still high priced for this area.

Pat has asked me to repair a clock of hers that was damaged years ago before we met( it's been in storage until just recently ), I have had it setting on my desk waiting, so yesterday I started taking it apart.
20230202_121141.jpg
Several of the horses feet were broke off, the finish on the wood mount was in bad shape, and the finish on the metal pieces was worn off.
20230202_121155.jpg
I got everything apart and cleaned all of the parts real good. I stripped the board sanded it and stained it with cherry stain. I'll put a couple of coats of clear on it. That's about as far as I got.
Last night I went out to close the coop and I heard a chicken sneeze, so I stood there a bit and listened, then another one, then one coughed, dang! There all sick with a respiratory infection, so the Sil came down today and we gave them a shot of baytril and dosed them with Med R/X it's for respiratory infection. It took a while to check and dose all 15 of them. Then I had to go help Donnie work on the floor for a few hours, he is making good progress, then we went to town and got a bail of straw and a bag of oyster shells.
That's it for me today, I'm going to eat supper and hit the recliner!
