Just a few weeks ago I told the member that I would like to buy his tools,he wanted the cash asap by electronic means. You boys must keep in mind I don't work that fast,so that member got to keep his tools, funny but if he would have waited for my check to come in the mail he would have sold his tools; Not sure if he ever sold them?
Just my two cents.
Woody73, I think this reference may have been about me and the Starrett thread guages I recently had for sale, that you had inquired about. There are a few reasons for the guidelines I try to set. While I have no intentions of upsetting you or any others here, I'd merely like the opportunity to explain.
First, I clearly stated (as in all my "for sale" threads on this forum, and in any others) that I only accept Paypal. That's primarily for the buyer's benefit, because there is a degree of protection for the buyers when properly purchased through Paypal. Me personally, I got burned several years ago paying for an item I wanted, by a money-order, and will now only pay through Paypal. It's a nice little security blanket, if you will. And I'm just not interested in taking a check. No offense, it's nothing personal. Let's be realistic... in this very informative and electronic, automated world... checks and money-orders in comparison, are VERY time-consuming, a bit archaic, and not very easily executed by someone who has a busy and demanding schedule. Trust me, I truly wish I wasn't so busy, but hey... I gotta support my tool habit, right? It's a tad ironic that we're having this discussion on a forum, on the world wide web, where we can IMMEDIATELY post messages, pictures and other bits of information, for the entire world to see, but yet some of us still have to take an ink pen out, write on a document, and physically walk to a mailbox, where another person takes that document, and sends it via many other hands, to a person hundreds (sometimes thousands) of miles away. The receiver then has to take that very document, to a teller in a bank, and exchange it for a few dollars. Seems a bit inefficient, doesn't it?
Second, others had expressed interest in purchasing, and were prepared to pay immediately. I hope that's simply understood.
Third, I've stated in several posts, that the whole objective for selling off my
personal tools here, is to fund another, larger, desired item... a new motorcycle table-lift. Real simple objective... the faster I sell my items, the faster I am able to purchase my "holy grail". That being said, I hope it's a little easier to understand my objective and focus.
I'm an honest, hard-working, respectful, faithful, family man. I've went to work my entire adult life, and have every intention to, until hopefully sometime in my mid-60's. I'm not a dealer, a retailer, or a wholesaler.
I, like many of you, am proud of my garage, my tools and my skills. I enjoy collecting and using my tools for my personal and home projects. I'm fortunate enough to have advanced myself in the last four years, to a good, office management position. But I'm proud of my abilities and the past 20+ years that I worked on, and built machinery. In construcion, the shipyard, in car dealerships, in specialty shops, and machine shops. I've been fortunate enough to have acquired a diverse skill set, and still enjoy applying those skills on my own time.
I was properly raised by my parents and absolutely mean no disrespect to you, sir. Or, to anyone else on here. And I'd like to add, that it's obvious that you too were properly raised. I could tell by your politeness and respect in your pm and inquiry.
And I sincerely apologize if you were slighted or offended by my refusal of your offer. It's my perception that, according to your above post, that it sounds as if you may have experienced "sour grapes". But please understand, I'm entitled to my policy, just as you are to yours. Doesn't necessarily make either of us wrong. However, I did strike a deal with another gentleman on the thread guage set, and some other items. Of which, he made a speedy, online Paypal payment. I'm fairly confident he will be satisfied with his newest acquisition, and I hope he gets to put it all to good use.
I genuinely hope there are no hard feelings.
