Haven't heard a thing yet. Not about shipping, or even if they are able to supply the ATV adaptor.

Hey guys,

All is going well.

Here is status.

We just recently installed two MaxJax units at West Coast Customs for a new car build they're doing for Dannmar and Rusty Wallace on the Street Customs show.

I (we) learned a lot on that install. We installed two at the shop and one set at Ryan's house. At the shop we ended up installing 10 sets of anchors located throughout the shop. That is the beauty of this product. Use it where you need it.

The anchor bolts themselves are 5/8". The anchor pods are 7/8" diameter requiring a 7/8" drill. The holes in the base plate are currently 11/16". Obviously you can't use the base plate as a drill guide so you need to mark the floor.

That's where the tricky part comes in. You need to be dead nuts. We ended up having two locations where there was not enough wiggle room with the current base plate holes to line the columns to the anchors. We ended up returning with a mag drill and reaming the base plates holes to 3/4". That corrected the problem.

All initial 100 units are/were packaged up and ready to ship. Yes, even the motorcycle adapters. Not sure why they say those are not ready.:headscrat

However, I am instructing them to redrill the base plate holes to 13/16". I don't want you guys to have to grind out the holes cuz you didn't drill the holes exact.

So they started that project today and should have units ready to ship on Monday.

I am working closely with them to make sure the roll-out goes smoothly.

Other than that, the lifts are awesome. You guys are going to be real happy when you see them.

Everything we claim them to be and more.

I will keep you all posted.

Thanks for the update! Looking foward to arrival. Any tips on how to drill the anchors dead nuts? There must be a technique where you could start the holes with the lift in place and then remove the lift and finish the hole with the 7/8".

or include a metal template?............personally an additional 5- 10 dollar charge would be ok with me,,,,,,,,,,and considering the fact that this lift could be used in multiple locations, probably a good idea anyways and a worthwhile invesment.............and what are deadnuts?

Yes, a template would be a great idea.

Dead nuts = dead on the spot, accurate.

Thanks for the update Jeff! I wanted to ask about them earlier, but didn't want to seem impatient. As for a template, I had just assumed all along that's how the floor would be marked for drilling.

Are extra anchors available, or is that something that can be bought at some place like Hiome Depot? I'd like to have extra anchors and bolt

Sweet! Shipping Monday is sooner than I expected from what they were saying at the time of the buy. Template sounds like a good idea, though it's probably easy enough to make one using a small piece of plywood or something of the sort.

And that motorcycle adapter, I was planning on building one but for the price, screw it! , send me one with the lift.

I also agree that a template would be the right way to do this. I was planning on doing one if it was not included with the lift. Just makes life easier.

Man! Can't wait to have that puppy installed. Let me get the mid-raise lift on craiglist today!

When I spoke to Jeff about the lift last week, he explained to me the drilling sequence. You set the lift in place, and using the bottom plate as your drilling template, drill the first hole. Then you move the lift out of the way, and enlarge the hole to the proper dimension for the insert. Place the insert into the hole, put the lift back in place with the original hole now over the insert. Install bolt into the insert, and tighten fully. Now the lift is securely fastened to the floor, and you can drill the remaining 6 holes thought the base plate. Once you have all six holes drilled, then you move the lift to the side, and enlarge each of the six holes to the insert dimension. Put the six inserts into the holes, and then put the lift back over the inserts. Install the 7 bolts, and tighten. Installation for that post is now complete. Repeat for the other side.
The biggest issue that I can see is people finding a hammer drill, and being able to drill a straight hole.

Another question. What is involved with removing the lift from the delivery truck? Would I be able to unpack it while it's still on the delivery truck, then maybe slide the individual pieces onto the bed of my pick up truck? Then I can worry later about finding help to unload it. Is there a way to you an engine hoist to help inthe unloading process?

Also, how much is that motor cycle adapter and what other accessories are available?

The lift needs to ship to a location with the means to offload it in one piece.
You can also pick it up at the freight terminal and they will load it onto a truck for you.

We are currently testing the Motorcycle adaptor to assure safety. We will keep you posted.

So will these be delivered on a pallet? I'm debating whether or not I need to have my lift shipped to a terminal. Chances are I wont have anybody available to help unload it. I do have a small tractor, but I would not want to have to lift 900+ lbs with my bucket (it's only rated for 750lb). If I could easily break down the load into 3 pieces I could probably handle that. Do the drivers normally have lift gates on their trucks?

Yep, no hurry here either! I'm sure you guys are swamped trying to get all these out. It's more just like a kid waiting for a new toy to arrive. I was just glad to be able to get in on the deal:thumbup:

As for a lift gate, nope, from experience they won't send a liftgate unless you pay extra. Also, if they do send a lift gate, there's no guarantee the driver will be able to get the pallet to the gate (also experience). I had a mini skid steer shipped (1500lb) and paid for liftgate service. Driver got here, and the pallet jack he had was too short to lift the palletized skid steer! He worked his **** off though, and with my help and my floor jack we were able to get it off the truck.

Generally lift gate delivery is an extra charge. I believe when I inquired about lift gate delivery it was $135 additional

If you had a mini skid steer, you probably could have unloaded your mini skid steer, how's that for irony:lol_hitti

I guess I better look into having it delivered to the closest terminal, where ever that might be  I'd hate to have it come to my house and not be able to unload it.

Anyway to use an engine hoist to remove it from the truck? Can you post a photo of what the "package" will actually look like?

When I spoke with gabe he asked me if I had a way to get it off the truck.
I told him I was going to use my engine hoist, he said that would not work.

The truck that is going to deliver this setup has a bed at shoulder height - almost 6' for me, too high for an engine hoist. [edit] I'm 6'4" so when Gabe said shoulder height that's how I interpeted it. PAToyta's estimate is more accurate at 4' min. and higher.[/edit]

The entire package is 880 lbs. Freight company's drivers will not help you unload but may(not will but may) wait for you to unpack and unload it part by part. Each column weighs around 300 lbs each so get some strong friends if this is the route you go.

I'm having it dropped at the closest terminal which Gabe located for me and is 15 to 20 minutes from home. They will drop it in my f-100 then I can unload it later after bribing friends with pizza and beer...:beer2:

my question is: which brand of oil is everyone using? The website says we can use any Dexron-III ATF in it. Install FAQ

From experience with truck deliveries, if you have any questions that you'll be able to unload it then have it delivered to the nearest terminal.

Generally, you are talking a tractor trailer delivery. This alone can be an issue in some residential areas. If he cannot turn around on your street (dead end or such) he may not even turn down your street.

The six foot bed height is a bit high. But you're talking a minimum of four feet or higher. A shop crane isn't going to do anything for you there.

The other issue is where the load is in the trailer. I've had things delivered that were halfway up in the trailer - not at the back. Even being able to reach into the trailer with a tractor or forklift from the ground you may not be able to reach the pallet. I've had luck dragging things to the back with a chain and then lifting it down from there, but that can be tricky based on weight and configuration.

That's good to know. There is no way in the world a tractor trailer is making it down my street. Is there an easy way to find the closest terminal that the lift would be delivered to?

Mine is being sent to the hospital where I work. The hospital has a loading dock and the guys in the receiving department have promised to help me transport it home. I'm providing the necessary bribes.....

The MaxJax will ship on a metal shipping angle that has one post stacked on the other and measures 33" H 16" W 66" L.

The first one to get it, can you guys please take photos?

When I got my lift from Danmar it came like this (btw this came in an 18 wheeler... that guy was a pro driving in our subdivision):

liftpack.jpg

At the time I paid for the delivery to include one of those manual lifts to move it to the driveway. It was a pita getting it out of the truck because the lift was longer than the hydraulic platform in the back of the truck...

Did anyone's ship yet? I told Gabe I can wait, since they were having some minor delays. My credit card hasn't been charged, so I assume that means it didn't ship

I doubt any have shipped, I think Gabe (UPSHIFT on here) said 3/16 in a previous post.

WRT using the base plate as a template, you will need to be careful to drill through the holes in the center. I believe an actual template would be better as that would allow a muach more precise way to get the holes "dead nuts".
