Hi, my name is Sharon. I'm finalizing the purchase of my own little slice of heaven in Cass County, Missouri. I got a great deal on it, because.... wait for it.....there's NO GARAGE! The garage to this property burned in April 2012. There is a very nice 24' x 32' concrete pad that I would like to put some sort of garage on. The pad looks sound, no cracking, and feel solid when hit with a hammer. I have no idea of the thickness at the entrance, but the yard slopes and I know the back of the pad is two feet high. I would welcome any suggestions on what kind of two car garage I can build over this existing pad for under $10,000. I know, ha ha, but I'm serious, that's all I have to work with after buying this property. I'm thinking pole barn type, but was wondering if there is any way to anchor a pole barn to the concrete, or do I have to excavate and pour a footer around the whole slab? Can I put concrete around each pole individually? I am woefully ignorant on this subject and may be in over my head. I'd just buy a carport, but I don't want to store my new motorcycle in there and have no where else to store it. :eyecrazy:

My first suggestion would be to find some local Amish or Mennonite. They should be able to help you rather easily.

As for what kind of building, you have plenty of options. If you have the concrete slab already, then all you have to do is build 4 walls, a roof, and your set. Regular stick built framing with trusses. You can even go to your local big box store and get a garage kit ordered. But I would recommend first lining up some labor first. Then go from there.
