It is a tough question and one that can be debated till the end of the century and still battle there will be. Here are the reasons I picked up all and only Hazet
1: Foam modules, snap-on does not offer such OCD complete storage options. It can be debated that it takes more place and you can have less stuff in the same drawer. This is absolutely right. You can also stack on top of each other everything to put more in the same drawer in a total mess, it's not what an OCD does. I like it clean and neat at all times. If I need more tools and I am running out of place, I will buy a second assistent.
2: I HATE the chrome look on all snappy tools. I am not talking quality here, I am only talking of the finish and look. There is something noble in the Hazet finish. it's a bit like watches. Some prefer Rolexes as everyone will recognize the bling from miles away, I much prefer a GO or A. Lange, that most people will think it's only a cheap timex. You have to like your choice. When I slide a drawer open, my eyes go wide open. When I grab a wrench, I feel in my hands that I have something special I can trust. Go out in stores, play with the tools, feel them, look at how it's built and why, evaluate and not only base your opinion on some forum members, at the end it's your money not theirs
3: I have no idea on what car brand you work, so it can also influence your choice, Hazet only makes metric tools, so if you ever need SAE, you are basically stuck with no options. I only work on german cars so it's no problem for me.
4: all in all, it's a matter of choices, There is also something I keep in mind at all times. I try to avoid as much as I can asian made products but this is another subject. If all companies do this, then there will be no more jobs in Europe and America. I prefer to pay more and keep jobs where they are now opposed as sending my money to a company driven by profit only. I stopped buying Facom quite some time ago as they are making more and more tools in Asia. I am not talking quality here, just a matter of locations made. I have nothing against asian products, just that they are not allowed in my home as much as I can.
5: You can mix and match as other forum members said, I fully agree. I have a cabinet for all non hazet stuff, and I use NWS pliers that in my opinion are far better than Hazet. I got the Hazet pliers as they were in the kit, and when I roll my trolley somewhere else, I still have pliers on hand, not the best IMO but still available and nicely stored.
6: Know you and who you are, do you like quantity or quality. I sometimes see toolboxes with 3 or 4 similar ratchets, do you really need that much. I find one of each type I can rely on is enough. It also depend what you do with it.
Hope it helped a little !
