I'd love to see more pics, more discussion, more history, etc.

As you wish ;) . And congratulations to your find!

The brochure is from 1982, your Assistent is even younger because of the yellow cap at the locking mechanism. I would say 1985.

Can anyone supply information on what tools went into the top tray of this kit. I never seen one like this before until recently.
Its like the Vw blue tool kit for the bottom tray

Notice something else about this tool kit as well compared to my blue vw ones the other day. There is a bit of difference in the plastic molding around the tip of large screwdriver. It is not as a tight fit to help prevent the tip going through the plastic

Just saw this thread because it was bumped. I've owned several Hazet tools for quite a number of years. My very first Hazet set was the 3/8"-drive metric socket set and the screwdriver pictured below:

I bought Hazet because, at the time, I couldn't afford a similar socket set from Snap-on. I knew about the build-quality of Hazet and decided it was perfect for my needs. I bought these tools in the early 80's to fill out my growing tool collection.

For a while in my life, I lived in Northern Europe. I came across this 3/4 drive socket set in a flea market:

I didn't need the set but it was priced so low (equivalent to about $100) that I couldn't pass it up. I've found some use for it from time to time but my absolute "go-to" tool set is my 3/8" set above.

Robmac you **** for getting that 3/4 set for around $100 no matter how long ago it was. It looks in excellent shape.

Nice barn find mac_intosh. Are those Hazet hex drive sockets? Do they have knurling? I would like to see a photo of them.

Nice old stuff Monte, the 839 is stahlwillish. Great pictures!

You got me on this :) . It could be from Hazet, but there is no company stamp anywhere on the sockets or the case. I have to compare them with others, which I don´t have at home.

My plans were to complete some other boxes with the content out of that one, in case they fit in (and if, I probably hesitate...).

I was just curious, I have a small pic of a set in my 1961 price guide but they are 12 point. The hex wrench double functions as the handle for the box of sockets.

Here are a few flea market finds, an old slot screw driver and a newer philips ($3 ea: )

Handle detail from the old slotted screwdriver:

Nice finds - one from the 50s and one from the 80s (I think).

The socket I posted was not from Hazet!

These are (first from the 30s, rest from 50s/early 60s, and a drawing from the 1954 catalog with your yellow screwdriver):

Wow! I didn't think my screwdriver was that old. I do like sockets that taper in around the drive end like Hazet makes.

Just a minor update, received the 190 cantilever toolbox today.

And the Assistent 171 I picked up earlier this week: a link and a general view of my toolboxes at the garage.

Hey Tony. Who makes that dark green roller cabinet ?
Hi, its Kamasa-tools. Quite popular brand in certain European countries. Made in who knows where but you see lots of their tools at car repair shops. The box is quite nice quality, it has double walls and roller bearing rails etc.

Seems like the EU was their target market. The only other I see is Singapore, likely the coo(not that that matters any more).Looks real decent.

I just read some Hazet threads. It seems like its commonly said that Hazet does not have "flank drive" on most/any of their wrenches. Well yes, I haven't seen flank drive on the open ends of combo wrenches and some of my modern box end does not have it either. But some do.

From my tools:
1. Hazet 600N combo: flank drive on box end
2. Hazet 606 open-ratchet: flank drive on ratheting box end
3. Hazet 610N box-box: flank drive on both box ends
4: Hazet 615 banana box-box: conventional drive on both box ends
5. Hazet 630 deep offset box-box: conventional drive on both box ends

Well, its debatable if you need the flank drive on box wrenches anyway so... :dunno:

Kamasa is from Sollentuna,Sweden

"Kamasa" sounds like a Japanese word, but it isn't

I was looking at potentially purchasing a set of Hazet sockets, but with a few exceptions in 3/8" drive, it doesn't seem like you can buy socket sets that are just the sockets -- they all seem to include extras like ratchets, extensions, etc. Am I missing something? I am not really interested in paying for all of those extras.

You can buy socket sets only. Look in catalog, page 84 for 3/8" sets.

Everything on page 84 in my catalog (2014, whb2014_en.pdf) includes stuff like ratchets and extensions. Do you have any part numbers for socket only sets? On page 83 I see a few sets that are socket only, but it's a very limited selection -- 3/8 deep, U joint, and screwdriver sockets only.

So it doesn't look like I could get a 3/8 regular set for example, or anything in 1/4 or 1/2 drive size. Bummer.
