Nice stuff!

Those older Hazet tools were great 'real world' tools. No plastic handles to get chewed up here!

I really love that crowfoot wrench. It appears to have been (very nicely) forged out of one piece! Can see why some folks love their vintage Hazet!

I am in need of an 17x19mm offset double box-end wrench. This would be a great time to pick up a German wrench. Any major preference between the Hazet 630 and the Stahwille STABIL 20 series? I know this is a Hazet thread so the results may be skewed.

I've got to be honest, while the style differs, I don't think there's much difference in quality.

Hazet is part matte finish / part bright, Stahlwille is all satin. Hazet is very traditional, Stahlwille perhaps a little more modern. Both are made of decent steel, nicely broached, have a decent finish and will probably last for decades!

I guess it comes down to whether you prefer blue or green!

Bear in mind that these are both 'deep offset' wrenches. I personally prefer the 'shallow offset' (Stahlwille 23 'Corona' or Hazet 625) which I find more useable!

You could always get one of each and see which you prefer. One thing is sure, you won't be able to stop at one!

Thank you for the feedback. I need the deep offset for a strut nut. Luckily the Porsche nut is a 22mm and an offset O2 socket works, but I wasn't so lucky on the Subaru. I could use an impact, but then I wouldn't have an excuse to buy a wrench.

Got these from a friend who had to clear out a garage.
Before and after a quick wipe.
Really happy with the 12/13 430 big A to fit my 100 cabinet cause I had a small a in it.

Thanks, counter is on 34 or so (at the moment :bounce:), will make a new line-up some day.
Lamps are rather hard to find and expensive. Had an ikea one for some time, cheap and fitted just fine until I found a real one.

Hi,
First time poster with help needed searching Hazet line.
I'm looking for 3/8 drive, hexagonal/6 sided socket set in sae/imperial and not having any luck! Is there such a set and if not by hazet, perhaps stahlwille?
I am acquainted with these tools from past work on porsches and BMW motorcycles and would like to put together a top shelf socket set.
Also like to find 6 point ring wrenches in sae and only coming up with the 12 point/double hex.
Many thanks!
Bill

Stahlwille does not have 3/8" drive 6 point SAE sockets in their catalogue and having a quick look Hazet doesn't have them either. However maybe one of them did at some point? You could also try looking at Gedore.

Otherwise I'd just go with 12 point sockets: high quality sockets will not damage/strip the bolt heads in any reasonable scenario, unless the head is already rusted away or otherwise ruined in the first place.

Thanks Metalio. I appreciate your help and advice. I'm working on an old British car (MGA) and treating myself to some new tools

Jens Putzier carries the Hazet 3/8 drive 880 AZ series (SAE, 12 point) at very reasonable prices.

Looking at some long pattern German wrenches. Considering the Stahlwille 14 series, Gedore 7XL, and Hazet 600LG (or 600N). Considering two of the three to try out and see which set I will buy. Should I bite the bullet and get one of each? The Gedore and Hazet have a similar shape where the Stahlewille is offset on the box end. The 600LG is the longest (305mm) , Gedore (280mm), and Stahlwille (240mm) all are 17mm. Any insight would be helpful.

I recently bought the Stahlwille combination and just ordered the Stahlwille DBE on amazon.de. For the price I paid I say just get them.

Did you order the STABIL 20 wrenches. I am looking at those as well lol. Let me know your thoughts when they arrive if you don't mind. I think they would be perfect for strut assembly.

Looks like I can't ship the Gedore 7XL to the states from Amazon.de. Stahlwille and Hazet it is I guess.

You will find that the original fasteners are of a relatively high quality and 12 point sockets and wrenches will be fine!

I've been working on these sorts of vehicles for decades and only needed 6 point sockets with the introduction of outsourced metric fasteners made of monkey metal!

The only time you msy need 6 point is if a vehicle has been the subject of a previous 'restoration' and inferior quality replacement fasteners have been used, and then corroded!

You will need a set of BA sockets though as the U.K. never adopted the Unified 'numbered' series - something often forgotten!

I have the 600LG, they are very long and are nice wrenches but very expensive, also not a complete range (unless they have added a load of sizes since I last looked) the Stahlwille 14 are nice too but can be got fairly cheap.

Comparison here of 17mm Hazet 600 and Stahlwille 14s

A few years ago a bought a set of 15 x Stahlwille open box 14s in roll for 78 euros from TBS. One of their special offers. I should of bought a crate load at that price to sell on !
They are my favourite wrenches, the H-beam design is both light and comfortable.

Tough call. All good wrenches.

Bear in mind that the Hazet equivalent of the Stahlwille 14 is the 600N. They are both 'long' pattern wrenches, and differ only in the offset of the ring / box end, and of course the finish.

The Hazet 600LG is a fairly new range of 'extra long' wrenches only recently introduced. As dutchgrey has pointed out, a complete range is not available yet, though they bought out some new sizes last year! If you really need the length, these are the best option.

I don't generally rate Gedore tools that highly, but I have to say that their combo wrenches, particularly the 7XL, are nice. Better finished than some of the other Gedore wrenches and a particularly nice balance! If you can get these at a comparable price to the others they're worth considering, but I wouldn't pay a premium! There must be other options besides Amazon.de for these.

Of the long, as opposed to extra long, wrenches, I'm generally a Stahlwile fan but in this case I think I slightly prefer the Hazet's. So from me that's a vote for Hazet in first place, Stahlwille a very close second, and Gedore a close third!

Maico mentioned he got a special deal from TBS. Some of these deals are really good, so if you do see a deal I'd allow that to influence my decision! At the moment I think there's an awesome deal on the Stabil ring / box end wrenches.

The 600LG is available in 16 sizes which covers most things. The missing 20 and 23 I've never used in my life...

I don't own any Hazet combo wrench, but I feel the same way about the Open Box 14 - prefer them to Snap-on, Proto, etc. They just feel right in my hand.

Well, after an age not carrying many tools in my vehicle (owing to having a relatively reliable one) I've acquired a higher mileage one that warrants a few tools.

My old 'car box' became my portable box years back, and there's too much in in it now to leave in a vehicle.

So, I put together a small box with a coupla drivers, some pliers and a few wrenches I had spare. I was just deciding what to do about sockets when I spotted this on U.K. Amazon.

Mixed set with both 1/2 inch and 1/4 inch drive. 1/4 Ratchet, extension and spinner, plus sockets from 6 to 13mm. Then 1/2 ratchet, 2 extensions and sockets from 10 to 19 without gaps, 21, 22, 24 and 27.

Exactly what I'd have chosen, for £176 including delivery and tax. Take the tax off and that's only about $205. Good deal for that lot I reckon!

Incidentally, I didn't own any Hazet 1/4 drive before this, but the fit on this is superb. Beautifully solid, as you would expect from Hazet!

Good choice :rocker: I have the same set(except the ratchets are with black handles, older model). I’ve had it maybe 3 years and i’m really pleased with the set. If only hazet would made extensions with knurling also...
