I have the tube at home, still need to buy plywood and fake leather.

When I finally find some time, I’ll post some progress fotos here.

Today's catch at a big flea market nearby.

I have the fake leather and plywood at home, so can try to make a repro Hazet stool whenever I have some time left...

Had a closer look at my latest flea market finds and could use 2 450 wrenches for my 100 cabinet. One 450 (DOE-wrenches) was to old (small a) and another to young (450N), so changed them with the correct 450 big A wrenches from the flea market.
While going trough some of my Hazet-collection I played around a bit with V10 wrenches...

After some attention the wrenches already look a lot better imo.

Wout, apologies if you have answered this previously, but do you have an "end goal" for the collection? Or do you just enjoy having and using Hazet tools, in particular?

Those reproduction stools look promising. Good work.

It's almost impossible to have a complete collection in Hazet tools but what I try to achieve is having the whole range of old type Assistents and a filled 2500a Assistent (VW mechanic cart). Also want to fill my 2 wall cabinets with the right tools. I don't collect to only display, I use all my tools when needed. That's why I prefer used tools instead of NOS. Would be superb to have a garage like you would have seen in the old days in a VW-workshop. I like to visit the local flea markets to search for Hazet cause on the internet prices are getting more and more crazy. When I started collecting Hazet, I was mostly on my own but now you have to be very lucky and fast to find something at a reasonable price.

Thanks!

Thanks Whowhatnow.

@ 3baygarage; Wasn't much work for the ratchet racks but think it's nice. The collection is indeed getting rather big. Think I have almost 40 Assistents and can fill most with quite some Hazet tools.

On video from Exhibition of HAZET 916 HP ratchet, weight was 300kg on length of 19cm.

300kg on 19cm length NOT equal to 1000nM! How they tested it on 1000nM and why not show it on video? Or I miss something??? I think 1000nm = ~520kg on 19cm length! Show me the proof!

40? :eek7::) That’s super collector territory. I’d like to find one of those, as would many others on the forum I’m sure.

Result of 10+ years collecting/searching in the privileged area not that really far from where the good blue labeled stuff is made. I understand that the Assistents go big money in the states but here you can find them at reasonable prices, only distance and time to pick them up is often an obstacle. And most of all when I started collecting the interesest wasn't that big and was often alone that had interest...

Good luck on finding one.

As far as I know is Nm torque the amount of torque (Newton) forced on a distance of 1m of the torsion point. 10N is about 1kg so 1000Nm is imo 100kg forced on the end of a wrench with a handle of 1m long. So if the handle is 19cm it's about 1/5 of a meter so 200kg would have been sufficient to proof the strength. 300kg forced on the wrench is about 1500Nm.

However I'm not a prof in physics so if I'm wrong please correct me?

Since the length is 1/5 of a meter you would have to have 5 times the weight to get the same torque. So around 500kg is correct. The moment of force is equal to the force(weight) multiplied by the length of the beam. Decrease the beam length and you have to increase the force(weight) by the same factor.

Of course! Sorry my mistake :(, has been a long day.
Your 'arm' is 5 times shorter so your force has to be 5 times bigger.

300kg on 19cm length of the beam is just ~512nM = DIN3122 standard, nothing special. I believe what EVERY ratchet made in Taiwan can handle 550nM with no issues! Where is no proof except image of testing certificate.

Those look great. Can't wait to see them finished. Did you make enough for all your assistants?

Thanks, really fun to make so I don't regret it I started the little project.

Don't know yet if I gonna keep any for my own. I ordered 12 meter steel tube and could make 9 stools out of it. I had already got quite some interest so don't know how much stools will stay with me.

New addition to my garage. When I got my big wall cabinet it was missing the stand for the 450 wrenches. So I let one made at a school. The makers weren’t happy with the first attempt and made a second one. I got both and used one for the cabinet as intended and kept the other for spare. So now I painted the spare and filled it with a set 450 small a wrenches. Still missing a few bigger wrenches to have all the sizes but think it’s nice as is.

That's a big bucket of Hazet paint you have there! And already 1/2 gone?

I ordered it few years back at a paint factory. I gave them an Assistent devider to match the colour. Already painted multiple things in my garage like the tire shelves and smaller things.
