Hello together,

new in my collection, unfortunately not complete, needs a little revision...
"Hazet 240a" set from ∼1925-30 with hex drive

a70fdfd5f892dc063ffdc089a039ce3e.jpg

and a set of Hazet 760 pliers (760-1, 760-3, 760-4) from the 1970s beside a vintage Hazet 140 12" "Blitzzange" (lightning pliers) of the time prior 1938 (I guess prior 1920). This Blitzzange is symbolic used 1933 till today inside the Hazet logo (left and right side of the frame).

I enjoy this thread here...

Thank-you Matt XYZ & TjoFrasse.
As a hobby, I usually restored cars or my 100 year old house.
But garage and garden are full of big toys, so now only collecting and working on old handy tools... :)

new HAZET project arrived today:
1955 Hazet tool cart for Volkswagen workshops (never sold to customers)

Original it is painted like a popcorn cart in light- & dark blue stripes (the colors of the sliding door slats - the rest light blue). Hazet bought it (or the hole company) HELKA and painted the "HELKA Favorit" in Hazet colors.

Just picked up this 3/8 drive set on U.K. Fleabay.

Combined SAE and Whitworth.

Been looking out for one for a while, but they always seemed to go for more than I was prepared to pay. Still had to pay just over £100 U.K. (about $150) for this, but the Hazet Whitworth sockets can go for stupid money, and I thought the box was probably worth £30 anyway, so I’m happy.

As it turns out, although the box has got a bit of external rust, I’m not convinced the tools have ever actually been used. There are no marks inside the sockets at all, and if the ratchet has been used, it’s only been used occasionally.

I felt that this probably dated from the ‘60’s to early ‘70’s, but this morning I found a scan of a catalogue from 1963 showing this exact set, so early ‘60’s it would seem.

There are a few tiny spots of corrosion inside the sockets (nothing externally) so I’ll clean them thoroughly in the ultrasonic, give ‘em an afternoon in evaporust, then wipe em over.

I’ll be using them for machine setting, where I commonly need both SAE and Whitworth sizes in about this range, so it’s nice to have a set with both, in a compact box!AF5373B5-265E-425D-BCE4-EEE64756AAC8.jpg

Hello,

nice find this HAZET 884 AWZ set

1963 will have a little "a" "Hazet" sign, not the 1965 "HAZET" in upper case.
So this set seem to be from 1965 to 1972 but before 1976 with other handles.
See catalogues at HAZET home page https://www.hazet.de/de/katalog-historie

And the price for this small 3/8 drive set was ok and usual in this mint condition...

regards,

Ahh, thanks very much!

I should have thought of that!

The box is big ‘A’, the tools seem to be a mixture of small ‘a’ and big ‘A’.

So probably exactly as you suggest date wise. Not sure how long they offered the old style tools for.

I’ve just been cleaning up the sockets and they all seem to be mint condition.

The handles have some brown spots I thought were rust spots but they wipe off with an oily rag, so very pleased!

How do you guys clean up the boxes? There is definitely some rust here, but with so much original paint I don’t want to blast it all off!

In Italy, folks who are really into Ducati bikes are referred to as “Ducatista”. Do you get “Hazetista” too...?

The condition isn't that bad after all - you could leave it that way.
It's also more useful, because in perfect condition you're worry about any scratch while handling it in the garage.

In some such cases, however, I decide to repaint. The outside is enough here. Cover the Hazet sign with tape, planish if necessary, remove rust with sandpaper, use primer, then filler and sandpaper until it is smooth, finally with the well-known HAZET color "RAL 660-2 Effect E" (can be found on ebay)...

regards,

Hi Guys,
Wondering if anyone has run into any issues with the new sets like I have?
I've recently bought a 900 1/2" Set and it has a miss aligned Hazet logo on it's case and it contained two 18mm Sockets, with one of them being in the place of a 17mm that is missing.
I've contacted the Seller Jens Putzier who was very quick in reply (within the day) with questions before I placed the order and now I've raised the problem I haven't heard from him in a 2 weeks. Love the 916HP Socket, but the price premium doesn't seem to get the same quality and consistency as expected.

Quality sockets - and hazet is smart enough to put knurling on them (Snap-On isn't)

No!

But this sure is fun!

Just got it from fellow member Nachito13.

Let us know how you like the way the bit holder works. That is about the 4th or 5th way to hold bits I've seen...

I don’t know what scratched my Hazet 8816hp but it gouged it so deep the crack goes all the way through the casing ☹️.
Will they warranty this? It’s only 3-4 months old.

if it is really a crack, yes.

But for me it looks only like a scratch from the housing also to the center gear/drive - by something ugly like a scriber.
So for a self made scratch, no.

now finished my restoration of my
1955 Hazet tool cart for Volkswagen workshops:
(two month of work, removing the old false red paint, cleaning, rust removal, flatten, priming, filling, repainting, rebuild latches, rubber mats, decals...)

Are new Hazet tools allowed here? Pics of my humble Hazet collection, really enjoying working with these on my Audi.

These were taken when tools arrived, so brand new, plenty of use since.
  • 953HP socket set 1/4" and 1/2"
  • 10x11mm flared angled wrench for brake jobs
  • 5pc PH and straight impact screwdriver set
  • Hazet flashlight, this is awesome really strong magnet too
  • Magnetic tray, also used a lot
  • 916HPLg extendable 600mm ratchet, used mainly as breaker bar.
  • Full set of torque wrenches (3)
    • 1/4" 2.5-25Nm
    • 1/2" 20-120Nm
    • 1/2" 60-320Nm
  • White sheepskin leather work gloves, only thing I haven't used yet, these are too nice to cover in grime.

Outstanding job on the rollaway, Orangina! (y)

That rubber mat makes the top look like a carbon fiber pattern. Cool!

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for a vintage tool HAZET 2590 torque wrench of the old shape from around 1958 to 1976.

The catalog pictures are quite small and not as detailed.
Does the real 2590 have any HAZET sign or the order# 2590 somewhere?
Or how do I recognize the original?

The pictures in the catalog are very similar to the STAHLWILLE MANOSKOP 72/6 (today with 720 numbers).

irritated beginner collector‘s greetings

Rolf

This is the only hazet tool that I own. Had it 15-20 years and it lives in the service truck. No country of origin and the dumb thing has a backwards screw. 😂

I'm still not sure, if this is the HAZET 2590 -
I see on my torque wrench only a "DP" (Deutsches Patent?), "Mp" (Manoskop?), "MADE IN GERMANY", "No 72/6" and old unit "cmkp" (600 cmkp corresponds to approx. 60 Nm)
but the Stahlwille 72/6 version had at the front a big STAHLWILLE inscription beside the torque indicator

Handles looks like Stahlwille - I don't think there ever was a Hazet version with "Hazet", "2590" inscription.
In the 1972 Hazet catalog it's easy to see the "72/6" inscription on the Hazet 2590 - same in this Hazet 2500K toolbox.

Thank you gigamel (y)

I got the information, that Hazet bought the torque wrench up to the in-house development around 1976 (successors like the 6121 CT). From whom, not known/told. Because Stahlwille not only had the 72/6, but also other torque range models such as 72/12 etc. and still has the product name Manoskop, it is obvious to me that the purchase was made at Stahlwille.

The handles (first with notches, later round without) and the 1/2 " end (first thickening on the tube, later without) changed over the years 1958-76. Stahlwille versions with the inscription "Manoskop" at the handles - the Hazet apparently without. The HAZET catalogs did not show this iteration - but there are other variants in the usage examples visible (e.g. 1969 and 1976 shorter handles - in a Mercedes of the early 60s).

regards,

I have that torque wrench in my collection. No Hazet branding mine.

I should upload some pics of what I have but it would be a long pic post. I use them daily.
But here is a pic of a couple special tools I had out recently.

@vwpieces: looks like the rare HAZET 2522 from '72 - or is this only the more common HAZET 794 U-3?
its a well used 794-U3
I also have another new in the box but like the used one as it has the edges worn enough to reduce damage or scratches.
Most of my Hazet hand tools were bought used or new at good deals 20+ years ago. Today I look at the tools and think no way because of the exchange rate and inflation.
I have a 169N fully furnished with blue divider sets and an Assistent with folding posts. 169N was bought new for $400 USD delivered. Retail back then was $1200. Not including the tools inside.
