Figured I'd share these renderings with you guys and see what you think. This is what I'm planning to build. It's 28x36 with 12ft ceiling. Garage doors are 16x10 and 10x10. Using attic trusses which will give me a approx. 12x36 room upstairs.

Plans for space:
I'm thinking of this as a 3 bay garage. The two bays with the double door will be for boat, car, and lawnmower storage. The bay behind the single door will be the workshop area. I needed 10' tall doors for my boat to clear so went ahead and planned for 12' ceiling in case I want to add a lift down the road. Still trying to decide how to arrange the workshop bay and stairs. Was thinking about walling off the area under the stairs for a toilet, but don't know if I wanna give up the space. Figure I'll put workbench and toolbox along the wall with the man door. Still need to figure out where I want my electrical(lights, outlets, etc.) and plumbing (toilet or not, sink, air compressor & lines) Any comments or suggestion are welcome. Thanks.

Sort of similar to my shop - except I did two 9'x9' doors, left off the door for the workshop area, and did an exposed front wall on the second floor for some windows.

I put the workbench along the back wall - opposite the side with the garage doors. The air compressor, air dryer, and welders are tucked under the stairs. Was going to put a restroom in, but the codes in my town started giving me grief about using it as an apartment so I pulled that from the plans rather than go around in circles with them.

Nice building! Thanks for sharing. I though about putting in some dormers for windows upstairs, but decided against it due to the cost and complexity. If you have a chance, would you mind posting a pic of your workbench and welder. I'm still trying to decide what to do with my "working wall" and could use some ideas. I'm still up in the air on the toilet, although I may put one in under the stairs, just not sure I want to give up the space. I need to decide soon though, as footers will be dug next week.

If you have room at the gable end think about a double wide door with a track for a hoist.
Or a 4 x 4 trap door in the upstairs floor.
Stairs are for people not for stuff.
