Coincidentally, we are currently working on the discoloration as customers want to use this level of protection in more “decorative” applications.

Of course, we will work with any former client that wants to topcoat with the newer formula.

Lastly, the solution to this is coming from a famous German automobile manufacturer. Rhymes with Mercedes-Tenz.

I’m planning to finish a 30x40 slab in a few weeks and I’m down to deciding between Hellfire and Rust Bullet. Is the change that was being made to prevent yellowing available yet?

It never yellowed, the product took a drab hue.

Coat 1 will be under 400
Coat 2 will be at 400
Coat 3 will be over 400
Therefore, 400 sq ft per gal is a good average, per coat.

Nohr-S Polyurea is more attractive than HellFire. Flake options, color options, etc... Still great protection but a nicer look.

HellFire gets it done without the glitz, not ugly though.

After seeing pics, this floor looks a little rough due to a clear-coat not being applied over the flakes. Not a fan of flakes with HellFire to begin with for a variety of reasons.

Regardless, we will gladly supply enough HellFire V2 to help you get this floor on the right track, remember to always clear your flakes for protection!!

Apples and Oranges....
HellFire is a protective , metal fortified, sealer. Thin by design and much more chem resistant.

High-Solids Epoxy offers colors, greater mils thickness and more $$$$.

Mils thickness is beneficial when your traffic is very high. Chem resistance is beneficial when you are doing a specific task in the space that involves harsh liquids.

Maintenance of the space also comes into play.

What should be our prep if we used hellfire, I mean would just using the acid etcher suffice for prep on this surface? The room is approximately 250sqft

It’s not paint. It appears it was mixed into the concrete when it was poured.

I did Rust Bullet on my first garage and this looks very similar with a lower pice, which I can definitely get behind.

My last garage was a slippery nightmare when wet so I'm considering softskid. What do you recommend for the application process?

I am interested in a kit for a 1575 sq ft floor

We have seen flawless floors turned in where the user was careful and some that were slightly visible. The heavy metal additives make it slightly tougher than other high-performance coatings to roll out.

Take your time on the 3rd coat and you should be fine.

I bought ~15 or so gallons of the Hellfire v1 about two years ago, and while the floor has held up well to chemical and mechanical abuse, the UV damage makes it look like a mottled mess, with varying degrees of pure gray to mustard brown, depending on what was covered from what angle.

Does the second version of Hellfire prevent this? Can you use the new version over the old? Is there any remedy for the discoloration on V1?

^^^That looks just great. All of these really clean hellfire installs make me a bit jealous since my install has some rollermarks in the last half because I had to stretch the last gallon. Looking at the TDS, recaots can be done after deglossing w/ 120grit screen or an appropriate stripper pad?

It's been about 4 months since I did mine. If I get the energy, would you reccommend against using the prep mentioned above to apply another coat or two to spruce up the final finish?

Just laid down about 720sq for of hellfire yesterday in part of my shop. Went down great - LOTS of careful back rolling seemed to keep roller marks to a minimum. @

However, I am a bit concerned with coverage as put down three coats over a freshly ground surface and only used 3.5 gal total for three coats(!). Going by the estimates I should have used over 5 gal for this space?

I know there is always variation due to surface/techniques. I did use fairly light coats with a lot of back rolling to avoid roll marks/etc. Do I need to condisider adding more product or will three solid - if thin- coats be okay? Ultra fine “grip” added to last coat.

Any similar experiences with hell fire or other “POR15ish” (my term - these seem to be in the same chemical family) floor products (rust bullet, etc.) with coverage like this?

How much you use has less to do with Coat 2 & 3 and more with Coat 1.
If your floor wasn't very porous this can skew coverage.

In your case , if still in the coating time window, add another coat.
If out, then prep accordingly for another coat.

3 coats is the minimum for a great looking floor.

I've got a stupid question, what are people doing for the apron? I assume you don't recommend putting down hellfire there, as it looks like v2 still fades somewhat, and I would guess you want to seal it with something so it doesn't absorb water (though I could be over thinking it)

I'd be interested as well. The color shift isn't bothersome to me, but I notice it. I've contemplated one of those rubber garage door thresholds. The discoloration is minor enough that if the faded/normal transition was masked it wouldn't even be noticeable.

If desired, you can go to your local paint store, get a quart of breathable, acrylic deck-coating in a similar color. This will obviously be less protection but better for the outdoors.
