I wanted to post a Want Ad but was told, "You can't want something until you have posted 100 times."

This is a great site. Nice people willing to help. Knowledgeable. 100 posts is next to nothing. Minor contribution compared to the benefits. Maybe you'll change your mind.

If you find a better site than this one, let us know. I know I would like to visit.

so 100 posts is a ridiculous rule?
how would OP feel if he was scammed by a "scammer" and the board had no rules in place? or would he simply chalk it up to "Buyer beware"?

oh well...

Frankly I would not send a guy money who's first post is a for sale thread and then just hope he sends it.

some of you guys have terrible reading comprehension.. He said he wanted to post a WANTED add and you go off about how its to protect from scammers SELLING or that its easy to get 100 post and then you can SELL stuff..

He wanted to post a wanted add so he could trade member money or goods in exchange for there goods.

A few things...

- I tend to agree a minimum post count for a WTB post has very little value
- a minimum post count to sell offers immense value
- 100 does happen quick... Provided you want to and have help to offer
- with that many tools what else could one need

Some entertaining responses!

It doesn't help that there's not a lot of good subject matter tonight and I think some of us (me) are kind of bored.

Somebody tells him they have want he wants and all he has to do is send the cash, money order or gift the payment on paypal. he sends the payment and never gets his item, money gone and so is the scammer.

It's the same principle. When you post a want ad, somebody is going to sell you an item that you want, unless of course somebody is giving you the item for free and covering shipping too.

There are still people out there that believe in the honor system. . . . . I'll send you the item you want, if it's what you want or like it, send me the cash.

It's a policy that was put in effect fairly recently, about 4 months ago, after a few members got scammed.

I recommend panic. Followed by aimless rioting, lynchings with murky motivations, and hallucinogens in the water supply. How's Tuesday?

Holy hell! Tough crowd! I joined a couple years ago but mostly lurk because there is a wealth of knowledge to be had here. In fact it was a post here I read about a guy who had a 1 car garage and couldn't expand...but what he did with that 1 car garage actually shamed me. I'm currently organizing and fixing up my attached 2 car garage because there are no excuses from what I've seen here.
