Hello all, long time lurker here, decided it was time to introduce myself. I have found this site to be invaluable in learning new things about vintage tools. I have started collecting old Plomb, Craftsman, Snap Ons, etc. In fact my favorite ratchet is an old SK 3/8 drive that once belonged to my grandfather when he was a Greyhound mechanic back in the 50's. I still have his Plomb 3/4" drive breaker bar and 1 7/16 1939 Plomb socket that has his name on it still. I just used it while working on the brakes on my truck recently. Whenever I wrench on my cars and trucks ('46 Ford pickup, 57 Ford Fairlane, '70 Mustang, 86 Mustang, '07 F150) I usually reach for one of the old ratchets, they just feel better than the new stuff. I'll admit, I am a bit of a tool snob, as my wife would say, I always try to buy American, even if it costs a bit more.

Welcome neighbor. How about pics of the '46 & '57? I agree on buying American when buying tools or anything for that matter, whenever possible. Usually something that is older than me.

The 57 currently sits in a storage garage buried under stuff in OC. I haven't touched the car in several years. Tell you the truth, if it wasn't for the fact that my grandpa had it since 58 I wouldn't have it. Its a 4 door, but at least its a 4 door hardtop Fairlane 500. The 46 is a work in progress. Just put in a 351 Windsor from a 70 F100, going to try firing it up this week. Keep fingers crossed.

By the way, any good cruise in or meets in LB? I sometimes go to Donut Derelicts in HB.

Zeet, that 42 sounds like it would have been blast to drive. There are a few things there on the list that sound good, I have been starting a small Plomb collection.
