After finding this site a while back and being a lurker ever since I wanted to say hello and the amount of creativity on this site is incredible.
I am actually at the planning stages of building a 40x30 garage/shop and would have like some input along with some questions I haven’t found answered so far from searching. The garage is going to be a jack of all trades shop so to speak, but primarily be used for tinkering on my two Toyota 4WD’s along with our daily drivers. The biggest one being a Toyota Sequoia. At the moment I have decided on two garage doors one being a 9x10 (lift bay) and the other a 16x10. The plan I created originally had the 9x10 door 6 feet away for the side of the garage and have recently changed it to 3 feet. I am still undecided which route to go. I basically would like to have enough room between the lift post and the wall to be able to do suspension and axle work. I am looking at the Bendpak XPR‐10AS‐LP. The specs say 145” which comes to 12 feet exactly so I am assuming the ceiling needs to at least 12.5 feet? I notice they offer an optional 24 inch extension, is this needed with the biggest vehicle I have being a Toyota Sequoia? I am sure I will have more questions as time goes on, it’s just right now I am needing to get the building drawn out for the city before I do anything else. Hopefully you can see the sketchup I have added, if not let me know.
Thanks.
