This isn't a gold mine by any means but I thought I'd share it. To get the full jist of the story go to this link 1st. and play the John Prine song, then come back and read the post while it's playing on your computer. (Hey, there's nothin on tv right?)
If you have the song playing from the above link, carry on.
I live downtown in one of the last surviving houses so I decided to make a court yard instead of a lawn in the tiny front yard. While I'm laying the bricks this old timer walks by and I stopped my work to give him a friendly "Hello". We wound up chatting for 20 minutes or so and then became friends in the following months. He's 87 now and calls me up to see if I can haul some plywood away because he and his wife are moving to a care home. I oblige him and he asks "do you want this stuff, I'm throwing it out otherwise". Here's the goods:
Close ups:
This neat Sunbeam Jigsaw!
This little Handle that tightens down on whatever, a lock blade box cutter, and these really tight pliers, if anyone has any info on these pliers I'd love to hear it.
Some magnets and this demagnetizer/magnetizer thing
I'm not sure what this is, it looks a little like a chain breaker but I thing it's something else: Any help on this one?
Last but not least is this cool jack.It says "Reliable - Ashland Ohio over -No. 1 - Pat. April 1607 - IC Elite MFG. CO.
I've wire brushed the patent date and viewed it through a magnifier and it does look like 1607.
Sorry for the long post, hope you liked John Prine and don't forget to say "Hello in there" next time you spot some old ancient eyes! It's rewarding even without the material things.
